What These Three Films Are All About !

Actually, No Apologies for making this post I just wanted to clear something up I felt I could after seeing and feeling the Vibe in the posts on these boards today... EDITING BUG CANNOT EDIT MY POSTS... ------------------------------------ These three films are going to be all about "WHAT WENT WRONG" ! THIS IS ALL ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED 2000 YEARS AGO AS THE SPACE JOCKEY RACE WAS ON IT;S WAY TO EARTH...TO TERRA FORM IT USING XENOMORPHS!!! THIS MY FRIENDS, IS WHAT WE KNOW FOR FACT RIGHT NOW !!! OR AT LEAST, WHAT THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BE ABOUT NOW !!!

and we know what that was now...the Deacon was the start of what went wrong and the next 2 films will be about it developing it's DNA structure from there until we DO SEE the Xenomorph in the form we are used to! It is the very BEST possible scenerio and if they do the sequels everyone's going WILD !!!

I think at this point people just want to be nasty and miserable about the whole thing for the sake of being miserable. I have seen the coolest, most active members here turn into the most rage filled people because they were so hurt and disappointed by the movie. hahaha funny pic...in the end what does it matter really? film is such a personal thing and no 2 people are ever going to see things exactly the same and I respect those who saw nothing in it they could like as well, as long as they tell me about it in a straight forward and especially polite and honest way and respect the fact that I found a lot in it I did in fact like myself.

Terraforming is the process of modifyng a planets atmosphere, temp, ecology or surface in order to make it more like earth. They didn't need to terraform earth. If anything it's clear that they were going to use the black goo and it's incarnations in oreder to wipe out mankind. I don't even think that's clear though. It's clearly implied that that's what's going on but all we have to go on are the words of David and the star map that showed that the Engineers were on their way to earth.

Second Off Engineering I Love everything you wrote and it will be interesting to see for sure which way this ends up going !!! I think they can blend both general ideas properly and still give us the "Xeno DNA Origin" angle as well.

Furthermore both Scott and Lindeloff have said that if sequels were in fact made they would deviate further and further from Alien. Now, even if that was their thinking in the beginning and even if they are still thinking that now I think that money and fan reaction will change the original plotted course to include how the xenos came to be and how the Engineer ended up on LV-426. Personally though I would be disappointed if they did that. I mean, it would be cool and I'm pretty sure I'd love it but I'd really just rather see something entirely new. I think the great mysteries of Alien that still remain should be left alone. While I loved the prequel to The Thing I still find it kind of dull to make a film that everyone knows the ending of. Like I said, I'd probably love it but I would still be disappointed and would rather see something completely fresh and new from Scott and co.

First off, it is fact because he clearly told us in the interview in the thread I posted above with Geoff Boucher {LA TIMES INTERVIEW DONE A FEW WEEKS BEFORE THE RELEASE OF PROMETHEUS} that the Derelict was a Bomber and the Eggs were it's Cargo...If they have now decided to show that Deacon at the end, OBVIOUSLY and with 100% CERTAINTY like i have been trying to tell everyone here for the better part of 2 years now...we are seeing...now...what we have seen...is the GENESIS of the XENOMORPH Species/DNA mix we saw in ALIEN...period...if not...I will Join the Band Of Ridley Scott Haters for Life !!! LMFAO, and true!

I wasn't saying that everything you said was wrong. But they were not sending xenos here to "terraform" earth. Someone would "terraform" a planet in order for their spiecies to be able to live and breath on it. In Prometheus we see an Engineer breathing on earth before man was created. So they don't need to "terraform" earth in order to be able to live here. Prometheus inferred that the Engineers wanted to destry us and were sending ships with black goo bioweapons and all that...Yes. That is clear. I was stating that "terraforming" was not their purpose. Their purpose is to destroy mankind. At least that's what we are led to believe. It's been wide knowledge since 2003 that Scott said that the Derelict was carrying bioweapons and all that. And I'm not debating that the Deacon is the early line of what will soon be the xenos. However, I think Scott and co, initially at least, put the Deacon in the film just as a wink to Alien fans. Just to kind of quench that thirst. I do not think that they put it in the film to say "this is where we are going" or "you'll soon see how this brought about the xenos." Scott and co have tried to get away from Alien as much as they can. They told everyone "it's not a prequel" over and over again. People were still pissed. They've stated many times, like I said above, that any sequels will go further and further away from Alien. If that happens I'm sure more people will be pissed(including you Sparty lol) no matter how many times they say that such will be the case. But like I said, I'm sure Scott and Fox will butt heads as far as this idea. I think Fox will obviously want to stay in proven territory. I think and it's obvious by his comments, that Scott wants to do something new. All I know is that I'm not going to set myself up to be one of the types that gets all pissed off that the sequel isn't exactly what I want. I'd rather them leave xenos alone and show us something new but I'd be happy with something that sticks to the definition of "prequel" as well. Either way I'll be happy. It's the degree of happiness which will differ.

Scott has been saying for many many years and we have all the documentation and fact here on this board somewhere because Snorky and I did the research and dug them all up a while back when we were examining this very issue and we found that the the inclination Scott expressed was one leaning towards the Derelict having been on it's way to Terraform Earth! This is what he assumed made the idea so appealing and was that Earth was endangered somehow, and this was O'Bannon's original play on people's fears as well.

@Spartacus, in a very old interview on the Alien DVD (can't remember which, but it's old, like 2002 old) Ridley says that the SJ was carrying the eggs as weapons and it backfired. So yeah it's nothing new. :P

It's all about the definition of "terraform" if you ask me. We can see in Prometheus that the Engineers could breath on earth, that they could survive on earth. Why would they need to terraform it if they can function on it? I'm sure Scott might have said "maybe they were going to terraform earth" or something but he obviously changed his mind before filming Prometheus. They were sending the weapons here to wipe out mankind. That's what's implied. If they wanted to terraform earth they would do so in order to live here. Now, I've just had an interesting idea but my nephew is bugging me to get online so I'll have to come back. Don't worry though, he does this all the time then gets off 5 seconds later so it shouldn't be too long.

I'm not so sure he has changed his mind with regard to the rest of the story though. That scene we saw, 2 actually, in which helmets were removed one with Weyland himself and one without him, could be foreshadowing, or they could be as you said, a compromise Scott had to make, I guess one day we MAY find out.

it was his understanding of Him that made him chose him, he knew because of his nature he would answer in the way he needed someone to in order to conduct the experiment he needed to conduct to satisfy Weyland's needs and desires. he was just following his programming as instructed to. Totally agree with Snork. The deacon won't evolve into a classic xeno, it's a newer version. The mural shows the original cycle. Door's shape/egg, facehuggers, and a xeno. They already existed. How is this still in question????

Yeah, I got the impression that the Engineers worshipped the aliens as some sort of (as Ash put it) 'pure' species? Also...does anybody else think that the Alien is a TERRIBLE weapon?! It's whole drive is to procreate so although it might annihilate all organic life it will leave the area completely uninhabitable and full of Xenomorphs? This isn't a bomb that goes off and then leaves a blank canvas. It just replaces one problem with another. Any thoughts?
