When David gets Vickers her robe we have the following conversation...
Vickers
"ROBE...HOW LONG"
David
"2 years, 4 months, 18 days, 36 hours, 15 minutes"
...excuse me 36 hours???
And another thing...
They come out of hyper-sleep on December 25th 2093...
...And Shaw and David leave in another Juggernaut on January 1st 2094...
...Thats a week, but we only see one night pass

maybe that bot is counting 24 HR cycle and anything short is just added to previous.

i say Davids clock was in bad need of a simple calibration ;
dont know ,,,i never heard it the first time , but the 2nd showing,, i did
( after reading it here)
,,but wait ,,,,,
watch the extended DVD, and it will have it corrected

No matter how complicated or creative, I don't think there is any way to get to a place where that can make sense.
And I very much doubt they would calculate their journey time based on the cycle of a planet they've just that minute touched down on.
As far as I can make out, it's just another example of sloppy.

Interesting...
Perhaps an LV-223 day is a week of Earth time. Maybe that is why Holloway wanted to get started as soon as they got there- HeHee!
July 07, 2012
well 1 week on earth equal to 1 day on ship? lol how that works?

Perhaps it took a week to put David back together, actually make their way into another ship without mapping aids or such. And then, figure out how to program the ship, adapt the cryo-sleep chamber for Shaw, get fuel.. And so on.
Would have made the movie way too long...
But I'm not being serious at all!

In our own solar system, Mars has something like a two Earth year long orbit. I don't really know about how long a Martian day is in Earth time.
I posited (humorously of course) that the rotation of the planet LV-223 takes a week of Earth time.
MAJOR jet lag!!

Geez!
I am saying that "they" ARE are using Earth time.
A "DAY" on LV-223 is ONE WEEK worth of Earth time- the clock they are working with. The Prometheus arrives before dark and the expedition goes forth the first time. The following dawn, the expedition goes out a second time. But it is ridiculous that "overnight" on LV-223 would be half a week of Earth time.
I apologize if I have upset anyone or seemed to use sarcasm. I intended only to play on allinamberclad's post.
