MemberOvomorphJul-12-2012 8:25 PMSo yeah I just got an email from "Weyland Industries" that talks about employment opportunities at SDCC (yes I realize that we all know about the comic-con thing) but it also says this...
"We're seeking candidates for Project Prometheus, re-launching on 10.11.12.
...for more information call WEYLAND (**9395263) from your mobile phone."
Very interesting choice of words...however I believe this confirms that 10.11.12 is just a Blu-Ray advertisement.
EDIT: Wait a second, guys! CALL THAT NUMBER. Something is definitely up!
That call is creepy as heck. It says something that I can't understand...SOMEONE TRANSLATE IT NOW!
SECOND EDIT: Now that I've heard the call a few times, it actually does sound like an Engineer on the second half of the recording, speaking the "Engineer language". Maybe that's why it's so hard to understand haha.

MemberOvomorphJul-13-2012 5:45 PMSpE3dSt3R: Oh no! You said the P word...Predator! It won't be long before someone here starts posting about how the next "Alien(s)" film will prove that the Predators are missing link between the creators of the Engineers and the Xenos!
That's the first that I've heard about the special Weyland Industries ID. I want one!
Fader: Regarding the water tank I can't but help think of the scenes in "Aliens 3" where the Xeno swims through the cooling tanks. Honestly, would anyone be surprised to see Xeno's make an appearance in "Prometheus Part 2"? For me the Green Slime, the Black Goo, the Xeno wall relief, the ampule chamber ceiling mural and the Deacon all point to the Xenos making some type of appearance in the next film. But hey, maybe I'm wrong.
I keep trying to look at both "Prometheus" and the 10.11.12 chatter from an increasingly streamlined perspective. In that spirit I ask the following: how absolutely bat sh*t crazy will the fans of the "Alien(s)" films be if 10.11.12 turns out to be for a lame ass TV show? If you were Fox and you took the risk to green light "Prometheus" would you be as dumb to follow up a $130 million dollar motion picture with a 4 month long viral campaign for a low rent entry in the franchise? My gut says that the answer to that is "no".
The DVD/Blu-Ray of "Prometheus" drops on 10.01.12 and so the public will have 10 days to dig through the extra before 10.11.12/day 1 of ECCC. Fox has about 2 1/2 months before then to continue the viral campaign. Add those facts to the info about the filming that was done in Spain and I would be shocked and angry if all we got out of this is a low rent TV show.
I think that people will lose focus if a hypothetical film is released next summer. I have to imagine that the film would be released late 2012 or early 2013. I have to think that this viral campaign is aimed at maintaining and building a buzz before 10.11.12and then using the clamor over whatever reveal is dropped at that time to then focus people on the next film's theatrical release date, one that will "shortly" follow the "October Surprise" that will take place on 10.11.12.

MemberOvomorphJul-14-2012 2:55 PM@synthedic_69,.... I certainly hope there is no TV series regarding the continuing story of Prometheus, but..... if Fox did that, I doubt I’d watch it.... I will give credit to Fox when they made the “ Terminator: Sarah Conner Chronicles “ I thought the series was pretty good. I am a big fan of all the Terminator movies as well. But like true form Fox did not renew the show for a 3rd season, I believe they felt in would be in conflict with the 4th Terminator movie or something like that.
Getting back on track with Prometheus Part 2 however, the additional filming in Spain, many un answered questions every body has due to Part 1, the fans are continuing to search for some type of closure, the ongoing new viral hints, the effects this movie has created with it’s fan base, surly something is up. I don’t know about you but the open end final scene of Shaw and David taking off in the other Juggernaut ship, I almost was expecting to see “ To Be Continued” right before the credits.... the only plausible answer is that Part 2 will be announced this year, perhaps 10-11-12.....
Also I watched/listened to the deleted scene in Alien where Dallas has Lambert play the signal received from the SJ Juggernaut ship, sounds nothing like the viral message from this thread, in fact it sounds even creepier in Alien imo.... don't know how to link into this thread
I should reach the frontier in about 6 weeks. With a little luck, the network will pick me up. This is Ripley, last survivor of the Nostromo....

MemberOvomorphJul-14-2012 3:11 PMLol fader I wish it were true but like I said they were in spain for 3 months - hardly enough time to do anything plus see my last post on the previous page its all been pretty much wrapped up. I think it would be impossible to cover up a 2nd part - there would have been some kind of leak - but if there were it would shock me and be awesome of course. TV show is most likely now unfortunately but I guess it may enhance the film if it were to expand on it in a clever way.

MemberOvomorphJul-14-2012 5:23 PMfader: I saw your post. I wrote the below on your behalf given that you and I seem to be of the same mind regarding there being another "Alien(s)" film waiting to be unleashed on the public.
crabfart: i just went on wiki and looked at the filming information for both "Inception" and "The Dark Knight". I wanted to look at a couple of recent large scale genre films and see how long it took to shoot those films. Given the fact that "Inception" was shot on numerous locations it was hard to tell exactly how many days it toof for Nolan to shoot the film. However, it's clear that "The Dark Knight" shot for 13 weeks in Chicago. That's 91 days.
I want to quote something that I wrote yesterday in another thread.
"Here's the thing: Scott is on record stating that he shot the film in 82 days. If they started filming in England on 3/21/11 and then started filming in Spain in September or perhaps early October 2011 then that means that the crew had at least 163 days in England to shoot 82 days of material."
"Prometheus" is 124 minutes long. The shoot in England took 163 days to produce 82 days of filming. That doesn't include the shooting that took place in Spain.
"The Dark Knght" is 153 minutes long. The main shoot in Chicago took 91 days. There were another 7 days of filming that took place in Chicago prior to the main shoot. There were also 6 days of filming that took place in Hong Kong. That's 104 days of shooting in total, not including some stunt related filing that took place in London in the fall of 2007.
So, how and why did it Scott 59 days more of filming in England, 3 months more of filming in Spain* and the shoot in Jordan to produce 1 film that is 29 minutes shorter than "The Dark Knight" and cost $55 million less to produce.
It doesn't make any sense!
* Per wiki: "The complex was booked from August 22, 2011, through to December 10, with set construction occurring from August until late September."

MemberOvomorphJul-15-2012 5:36 AMShooting the pilot for the TV series? Doubt that too but its another possibility.
And I meant that they were doing other things such as the yacht scene in that 3 months and other shots in the film so it seems like not enough time. Also they have not had allot of time even for one film - post production etc. seems a bit too much to me. Ill still bet on TV series...but hope for 2nd part :P ...It also would be so cool if they released a short film as part of the ongoing story line stuff dont know why they dont mix it up like that sometimes...
ps another thought - if it were 2nd part surely the virals would have the actors for the 2nd part in them - another nudge in the TV series direction for me.

As much as I want to think that there is in fact another film in the can I hear you about what you wrote in your above quoted words. I've recently written about that notion/fear in some of my recent posts.
When you said "the yacht scene" were you referring to the scene featuring Weyland when he was younger? It's my understanding that that scene was never shot and was only feature in Spaihts initial version of the script.
I'd have to look at what information's online regarding the post-production schedule in order to get a sense how that would influence my thoughts on there being a second film in the can.
That said, I still think that it makes no sense that it took 163 days to shoot 82 days of content in a film that relied more heavily on actual sets than it did on CGI. 82 days of shooting basically means that Scott took every other day off from shooting. The shoot in Spain involved pre-production set building that was followed by 3 months of filming. Why would it take a month or more to build sets in Spain for a single scene that seems to have never been shot? Why would it take 3 months to shoot one scene? And lastly, given the fact that Scott went to Iceland and Jordan to shoot then why would he go to an indoor set that contains a gargantuan water tank to shoot a scene with a yacht? Why not just go to a marina in the Mediterranean?

MemberOvomorphJul-16-2012 7:55 AMYes when I look at lots of sources it does seem like some are made up or 'Chinese whispers' one says 3 weeks was the shoot in spain. It was supposed to be in a storm so that makes sense to shoot indoors. It is hard to know exactly what happend currently (had more time to check stuff now).
If indeed the shot was pulled and they were there for 3 months and didnt shoot any other scenes (other than: the desolving engineer scene apparently was shot there) I would say that does pull in the direction of something bigger. I would say I am still slightly in favour of TV series but it does seem quiet possible with all that for a 2nd part - I must admit when I saw prometheus I did think : "was that it?". Also well done if they did fit in 2 parts - it would be surprising! And I will leave you with another interesting idea:
Possible engineer home planet water world:
Prometheus creatures:
Squid baby later octopus like !
Deacon very stream lined also based on a shark.
Some one said a funny thing too:
BOTTOM OF THE SEA
Camera pans from left to right, revealing...
AN EGG
The egg hatches slowly releasing...
THE PLAICEHUGGER
Anyway fingers crossed!
