Also looks like this is the last week it's in theaters (in my area at least). May have to go see the last showing on Thursday night.

Indy: In my time on this site I've seen so many different takes on the film in terms of the global ticket sales and the promotional costs. I've seen some smart info posted about those topics and I've also seen some not so smart and not so kind comments made about those topics. At this point I'm disengaging myself from any further related talk related to the financials of the film. I say that because I want to see the film one more time before the film leaves the theaters and I want to focus on what's on the screen and not the debate over how $300M and counting in global ticket sales means the film is a failure and a dud. At this point I feel that there's enough info out there to suggest that there may already be another film in the can/in the works. I also know that 10.11.12 points to something "Prometheus" related, something whose identity is known only to some of the people at FOX.
I'm glad the film was made. I think that it's a beautifully crafted film that is in some ways both mysterious and infuriating and which after a certain point loses its powerful stride. To date I've paid 5 times to see the film in a movie theater and viewing number 6 will follow shortly.

@synthetic_69...First, I would like to say that this post is also friendly.
This obviously means a lot to you so instead of giving the short, sweet "when I see proof" answer I'll give a little longer one.
If I was wrong I was wrong. I'll admit it. I have no idea how much Fox actually spent to promote the film and maybe my post came across as me stating that this was a fact. When I said "I would have to say" that was meant to show that this was an opinion. Then I followed with the word "definitely" which obviously threw you off.
Either way it was a guess. You want me to say my guess was wrong? I will...as soon as I see some proof that says that I was wrong. Other guesses don't count as proof.
By the way "at least" does not mean "in excess of" if you ask me. It means, "this much and maybe more." I never said "in excess of" as you said in your post.
**EDIT**
I'm really not sure where your post is coming from. Did you think that my comment was directed straight at you or something? When I said that about "net" and "gross" I said it because there's many people acting like Fox has made $300 million and that a sequel is a lock. I wasn't shooting that post in a specific direction.
We all make mistakes. It seems you're taking one that you think you may have made-which tbh I wasn't even aware of you making it- and blowing it out of proportion then in turn trying to point out a mistake I have made and make me admit it. Sorry but it's strange imo.

Engineering: Thanks for your post. No drama here. The only reason that I felt that your post was in part directed at me was because earlier in this thread there was a sequence of posts that went like this: my post / stylo's post / your post. In your post you wrote about something that definitely related to some of what I'd written in my earlier post but you didn't come out and address me and what I'd written in my post. There's plenty of passive aggressiveness on user driven internet sites and I just was not sure what, if anything, was going between you and me after the above mentioned sequence of posts. Again, no drama or accusations here. I've simply bumped into some annoying BS in my short time on this board and when I made the post that was addressed to you I was both owning up to my earlier mistake and just trying to make sure that I wasn't unexpectedly running into a situation with you. That's all. Have a good day!
