Well Ridley wanted to do a Part 2 and 3 as soon as possible i would think that 2014 is a long time away for Ridley to work on Prometheus 2, its a long wait.
However when you consider Ridley is getting on and no doubt he would want to tell and conclude his Story and Tie in who the Space Jockey/Engineer was/why and Xeno and why and there connection with Mankind. I am sure he would want to oversee this project and his story to completion.
At nearly 75 years old that means Prometheus 2 Paradise would be released when he is like 77 years old and then the concluding part 3 when what he is 79 or 80.
Nope i think maybe now he has been given the green light i would not be supervised if he goes the route that Back to the Future part 2 and 3 went and that work on Prometheus 3 would start or have considerable work done on it at the time they are working or finishing part 2.
This would insure Ridley gets to complete his adventure and story in time because at 75 i am sure he would hate it to leave it too long so that he becomes to old or ill to continue with part 3.
We dont know if we would cover the Deacon in Part 2, i think there would not be a vast amount of difference between a Deacon movie and a Alien Xeno one, and then look at the plot holes leading to Alien or Aliens depending on how they aproach human interaction with LV 223 and the Deacon.
Thats unless that at some point between the end of Prometheus 2094 and Alien in 2122 the outpost LV 223 is destroyed and that dont mean the planetoid is destroyed like LV 426 was in Aliens it could be some other event that leaves it baron with no evidence of the Temples, Ships or Organisms on the planet.
I would assume that most of Prometheus Paradise will revolve around the Elder Engineers and maybe there creators, Ridley said he would want to go further away from Alien in a sequel and so i dont even know if we would see anything close to linking the Xeno as Prometheus did with the Mural, the Deacon and the substance in the Urns.
A Prometheus 2 would be bland with just Shaw and David, and Engineers i mean would there be a few or hundreds... it surely has to have other humans or humanoid organisms.
Potentially mankind may not be the only Humanoid lifeforms that the Engineer race has seeded.
This would give scope to use more actors, remember they dont have to be human but can be recognized. Such as Christopher Lloyd (Doc Brown, Uncle Fester etc) when he played a Klingon in Star Trek 3.

Or like Kurtwood Smith (Robocop, Rambo 3, Deep Impact etc) he played a Klingon and Cardassian in Star Trek.

So just because Shaw may be the only Human in Prometheus 2, with David a Humanoid Android does not mean we cant see actors brought in to play other races that we would recognize them in.

I just hope its allot better than prometheus - James camerons avatar was pretty bad too - no dont want him in on it! Unless my theory is true and it does seem to make sense - all directors as they get older just cant make the great films any more maybe due to too many yes men / being to up there own asses or just plain lack of ability who knows...just look at all the great directors and there films as they get older (in general of course - the director is only part of making a film I know) ....

Guys, my logic here is Cameron always delivers what he promises, regardless of what you think of his work he really does listen to what fans like, and frankly seeing him work with Ridley Scott would be really cool.
Also, you have to keep in mind, directors are working with millions of investors money, so they can't sit and make an indie movie that caters to one small portion of hardcore fans. In cases like this it is best to shoot for a middle ground and wish for a movie that is mostly what you hoped for, because like it or not these directors are going to try and make a movie that appeals to a larger demographic.

I gotta say I'm totally surprised....I really didn't think it would get a sequel....with a budget of 130 mil.....and only making 125mil...here in the state's as of August 2....can't wait though.....

@spacenik: agreed!
I hope P2 will stick to/delve further into the cerebral side of filmmaking rather than some kind of aliens-esque action flick approach. I can just imagine shaw and david engaging in some really compelling dialogue on the juggernaut (while en route to their destination or close to arrival etc.) . Then, as the two of them exit the juggernaut (after a particularly shaky landing), there appears to be no one home (not necessarily the case). Shaw and david proceed to survey the planet and we get some great landscape shots as the two trudge on to who knows where and what (finding some interesting clues along the way)...all of this ultimately leading up to a more frenetic pace as motivations are revealed and additional characters (engineers obviously) are introduced. anyways....im sure im wrong, but i am just so excited.

From At_the Mountains of Madness
The murals also allude to some unnamed evil in an even larger mountain range just past their city which even they fear greatly

They have to get the creme of sc-fi writers in to really give the sequel the x factor this time . i'm happy ridley will direct just pull it together in the script stages to fully restore my faith.
The art department and look of the film was spot on, for me the script was way below par.. from what i can make out lindelof wont be on board this time that has to be a plus .
