Necronom 4
MemberNeomorphAugust 25, 2012I actually like Alien 3. It has alot of Good Points: Great sets, good Acting and Some Good ideas. However, it has a few Bad Points, like the Alien Dog complete with Poor animatronics! Etc etc.
But there is a Big Question that really Bugs me; HOW did that Egg get up there?
In the Opening scene, where it shows Ripleys Cryo Chamber, damaged by Acid, just before they are ejected from the Salaco, it shows an Egg attached to the Ceiling? How did that get there?
It couldn't have been the Queen, because she only made it to the Cargo Bay and then she was Ejected by Ripley. It couldn't have been Burke that put it there because he never made it back to the Ship. So how did it get there? and who put it there?

@ pulserifle187,
No Vincent Ward just got a writers credit in the opening credits because he had actually been paid for the work that he had done, and the sets and costumes that had been made prior to David Fincher being contracted (which he had to incorporate into his screenplay) had been made as per Vincent Wards screenplay.
As to your Egg question - No one knows, just like the human versus android debate for the character Bishop II.

there seemed to be 2 eggs in the EEV from the Sulaco ship:
one that gets to Ripley
one that gets to the dog/ox.
I'm starting to believe it really was a cloaked Predator who put them there... NOT. lololol.

@pulserifle187. That's my thought aswell. A few replies back, on this thread, i said that the Queen must have layed an Egg on the Drop Ship (in the landing gear). But like Davy said, it would have been 2 eggs! I also said that there must have been somebody else onboard, an unseen Weyland Yutani Employee, maybe another Ash? The Weyland Employee, hidden away on the Sulaco, would have carried the eggs to the EEV or cryo sleep area.

when the sulaco could fire the cryo tubes were moved to the EEV . maybe ripley was "infected" before then . hmmm
the predators are my second bet thou.

@ pulserifle187,
The sequence of events is pretty clearly shown at the beginning of Alien 3...
- Egg seen lodged above Cryo-Tubes.
- Facehugger spits acid at Newts Cryo-Tube, causing an electric fire.
- Fire alarm causes Cryo-Tubes to be deployed in the EEV.
- Facehugger smashes glass on Ripleys Cryo-Tube.
- Facehugger hugs Ripley as EEV is launched.
The problems with the eggs are...
- The eggs are shown near the cryo-tubes not the dropship, so wasn't the Queen, she never left the hangar area.
- The egg on the Sulaco is shown high up, which makes absolutely no sense. A second android wouldn't put the egg up there.
...Its all because of David Giler, that scene was shot by him, so despite owning the production rights to these creatures and their universe, and having been involved in every movie (including the AVP's) he hasn't a clue about the franchise he (for no good reason) owns.

think maybe he just sees apile of money....yeah i agree he has no idea about the franchise ( or inclination for that matter)

@Snorks. I've just had a thought. What if, the reason the egg was attached to the ceiling, upside down, is because if the egg is placed in the normal position (the right way up) it only hatches when it detects life. Maybe in the upside down position, it is forced to hatch? Because lets face it, Ripley, Newt and Hicks were in cryo sleep, there wouldn't have been any movement or much body heat.

well near the end of aliens when they get back on board the sulako the alien queen is hiding may be she planted it before she ripped bishop in half , but have to alien 3 was awesome just as the first 2 movies then they spoiled it by making ressurection

There is a reason the egg's origin was never explained... because there's no way to explain it. It simply doesn't make sense that it's there. You just have to take it for what it is. Along with the fact that this one special facehugger can apparently deposit two eggs (1 queen, 1 normal) before dying. None of it makes sense.
That said, considering all of the resistance and complications Fincher encountered, it is not a terrible movie (especially the extended cut).

They should've just removed that scene when they re-edited it for the Special Edition (which I'm watching for the first time now). An egg couldn't have got on board the Sulaco but a facehugger could, especially if it was a Super Facehugger (which they actually designed & created). A Super Facehugger could be born directly from the Queen & not via an egg. This Facehugger would be born as a result of the the Queen detaching itself from the egg sack. It's such an obvious idea that I'm amazed they went with the MASSIVE plot hole.

The only theory I can think is the queen but she produced an egg by herself similar to ALIEN director's cut where Ripley finds Dillian in an egg.
I believe the queen created an egg inside her developing an asexual reproduction without an egg sack and without a human to turn into an egg.
She used her DNA to produced another queen (just in case she might get killed) and then place the egg somewhere safe.
The other facehugger manage to get on the ship since their are aliens everywhere.
Another theory the script has been rewritten countless times and had to start without a script so it was super rushed anyway so lets just say it was put their just to start the movie.

Lets face it Alien 3 is just based on a f**ked up script and the multiple eggs is just another example of how flawed this movie is. Combine that with the terrible creature effects and killing off Newt and Hicks and what do you get. BS!!! There are a few parts of that movie that are pretty good and I have written about it at length here but I just can't justify the magical eggs scenario.

i just watched alien 3 the other day and i realized my main wish with it. why wan't the alien bigger? i know it came out of a realtively small animal but when i t bursted it it was huge for being a newborn!! the same way i expect the deacon from prometheus to be very large. also, it would have worked out for the size if the ox burster scene was used
