Petition to 20th Century Fox: Keep Ridley Scott away from the Prometheus 2

Well this was Ridleys Baby... well Alien was but its Dan O'Bannon script and i think Ridley may not be the best director far from it as far as errors in shooting..... never mind Edits, i guess thats why Ridley can release all his movies with Cut after cut after cut.... Ideally i think Peter Jackson would had been great, or Cameron but they have busy schedules. Some would like to see JJ Abrahams but i not sure.... We need give Ridley a chance he started this project and had a vision lets hope he Sticks around to complete it and i think he should be given the job and then ultimately any disappointments can only be aimed at Ridley then... for example some never liked the Queen and Bugs idea from Aliens onwards, but if Ridley directed Alien sequels and they ended up with worse ideas then only Ridley can be blamed. What i am saying is if someone else did Paradise and it sucked, we would be thinking what if Ridley had stayed on board.

@Svanya- My sentiments exactly. Come on guy!! Give your head a shake! Look at what happened when Ridley wasn't brought back for the Alien sequels!! They immeiately spiralled into B Movie territory and abandoned everything that make the original great!! (lifecycle, suspense, horror, etc) Prometheus brings back ideas from over 30 years ago that Ridley and Obannon wanted to use in the original. Spaights draft was OK at best!!!! It was just another uninspired Alien movie and the David character was garbage. It reeked of rookie writing and desperately needed to be polished up. I can't believe how much this amazing film was wasted on your completely stunned ass. Seriously! F**k man, my blood is boiling over here- i guess this is how to push my buttons.

I agree Lindeloffs ideas did seem better as Spaights was well more of another Aliens flick, Spaights had some nice ideas and many Lindeloff took and changed a little, the biggest thing Lindeloff did was take out the Eggs, Face Hugers and Xenos etc.... Lindeloff does have a habit of writing stuff that dont add up or even contradicts other parts, he will have ideas run with them, then latter fail to explain or even finish off what he started. i like a bit of Ambiguity but some stuff never made sense.... Spaights did, but it was a little too much Spoon Fed.... but i did like how his Scarab instead of Goo was more consistent in effects, while i prefer the Goo i think we are shown ways it was used and then Ridley and Lindeloff and Fox gives clues to the Goo that well go against what we saw in the movie... I would liked another person to had gone through Lindeloffs Draft and tidy it up a bit but to be fair his Draft was not so bad... The way the movie came off, was not as well done as his draft and that is to do with Ridley and Fox. One biggest gripe is shooting errors, and Ridley did same thing with Alien, the idea of a 27 foot tall Space Jockey that he used Child actors as they walked to it, to give the impression of 27 foot but actually it looked about 20.... to then shots when Dallas was up close that revealed we have a 15ft tops Space Jockey, and same errors happened in Prometheus where our supposed 12-15ft in the drafts became 10ft Engineers that we could see on screen appeared from 8-9ft tops (Ghost Engineers and Space Jockey Suits) to well 7.5ft Tall Engineer who attacked Shaw.... But taking that away Ridley always seems to Shoot so much stuff that never gets used, that then eventually when we see other cuts of the movies he does they end up much better than the Original Cuts.

Major noob Hi there I agree with everything you say. What I am on about is this : What the hell is the point or purpose of this thread ????? Have you ever heard of someone petinionng against any director of a franchise before (well at least alien) and the scriptwriter ????? What's the point of that ??? What will it achieve ??? What will be gained ??? The story of prometheus can't be changed now . I juist just don't understand the logic by petinioning against a movie that already has been made . Anf now the scriot of p2 must not reflect the existance of p1 ??

Wow. Much as I have my issues with the theatrical cut of Prometheus, I must say. I wouldn't want anyone else at the helm of a sequel. Besides, considering the issues many of the film's detractors have, and I liked the film, the last thing any continuation of the story needs is a breakdown in creative continuity. I've stripped this film down from top to bottom and it is by no means a lost cause. Some will disagree, but I merely felt the final result suffered in the editing process. The film Prometheus could have been was lost in the cut and while I find that disappointing, I don't hate it and the notion that Ridley needs to go is frankly, ridiculous.

And if we're going to blame anyone for mucking up the script, look no further than the studio, which insisted, if I recall, that the typical tropes of the series be removed in favor of a new direction. Is that Ridley's fault? Hardly. And if anyone should be sharing blame, it's Lindelof. If you read Spaiths' script, which did need SOME re-writing, many of the character choices we see in Prometheus were retained by Lindelof. The issue is that in Spaiths' script, most if not all of these characters' decisions have logic or a reasonable thought process behind them. Lindelof retain the decisions/actions and, for some reason stripped all that logic away, leaving with questionable decision and questionable action made by characters we have trouble believing after awhile. I'm not going to bog this down in specifics, but let's wake up here. Ridley deserves some criticism, but not the axe. I just Thank GOD Lindelof is out...

Agree some of the Characters that Lindeloff rewrote was a bit daft.. But if you read the Lindeloff drafts, then the crew was not as stupid, the script seemed to flow better. To me Prometheus was like a 2.5 hour movie that got caught in a shredder and they tried to re assemble the movie, but some frames too badly damaged and they left them out, some of the movie was re arranged in a fashion the original never and some gaps they re shot scenes... Thats what it seemed like... If you take into account the deleted scenes, and then some scenes we never saw at all.... inc full Sacrificial Engineer Scene with Elder and Sacrificial Engineer Dialect... The Alternative Hanger Scene where Weyland was in the shot and Shaw driving the Transport that ran Fifield Over. The Engineer running from the crashed Juggernaut to Life Boat Scene and then full Engineer vs Shaw scene with the Engineer reading a Book he found on the floor in Vickers Quarters. These scenes when you accept and look at them and logically figure where they would fit in sequence, give the impression of a movie that matches more Lindeloffs draft... And while Ridley can take some blame....... [b]ULTIMATELY THE FOX EXECS[/b] Have the Final Say...... If they want Paradise to contain Xeno Eggs, and Xenos and a Xeno Queen at the End and pass that off as what the Mural showed in Prometheus. Ridley could say... no way i ant doing that..... And Fox can say ok... bye bye and get someone else in to do the movie how they want.... BOTTOM LINE... FOX owns the Franchise and they could go the route of Predators created the Engineers and Xeno and if Ridley wants no part in that, but Fox do then Prometheus 2: Paradise will have Predators etc in it...

No predators needed in any Prometheus storyline none. I love the Predators dearly but they need to stay within their own franchises. You can still have an Alien vs. Predator but they should have made it in the future like the comics but FOX didnt give us that. In other words just keep the Engineers and Weyland away from the Predator movies. You can still mention them but they need to be ambiguous and say maybe hunters but thats it.

Yeah i am not saying the movie should have Predator Connection, or though if done correct it could work... But after the AVP movies and how they was not the best way to fully introduce them to the Alien Universe, i am not sure it would be wise to try and do it again.... But saying that, as i said if Ridley does not explain the Origins and Connections in a way that he wants, then there is always a chance that someone else will be given the job to show how the Xeno came to be and connection with the Engineers and LV 426 and it could end up being ideas that Ridley would not like one bit.
