So, I am now more than happy that Paradise would appear to be firmly in the pipeline. Much has happened since the release of Prometheus and there has certainly been more quality Sci fi movies brought out. As much as I love Sci-Fi and its use of dystopian futures, there is always the risk that you can have too much of a good thing. This is where imo, Prometheus may have created something of a rod for its own back.
As well as answering lots of questions raised in Prometheus, Paradise will have to present something different and unique. It will have to present something much more than a woman and an android going to an alien planet. Personally, this is where I feel Ridley has the ability to shine very brightly. Let’s just hope the studio execs don’t dumb down any of his ideas.
Going back before Prometheus I remember various discussion about Ridley wanting to do two movies from the word go. This would mean that Ridley may have possibly wanted his own trilogy. If that is the case, I feel that Ridley has had a very long time to plan Paradise and has he done what George Lucas did with Star Wars in waiting for technology to be at a point where he can deliver the vision he has in mind.
There is something to be said about having a director with vision at the helm who knows how to mix location with technology and have the ability to put a different slant on things. That said, I am more than impressed to see that out of the various Sci-Fi movies that been released, the two that stand out for me are Prometheus and Elysium. Interesting to note that acommon backdrop to both films has been about a dying man looking for more life. This makes me wonder if Blomkamp has had more than an eager eye looking at Ridley’s camp. Of course there is much more to both than just that.
I would also like to refer to this link. I also think the release dates of both films was highly tactical

Here’s to Paradise, and what could be an interesting alien dystopia.
