Would you like Prometheus 2 to be more about the Xenomorph origins, or just stay it's own story?

I agree with all you said. What really concerns me is 1 year after the release of paradisw we are still gonna wonder if the engineers is the same as the sj's are they under them and will we still wonder how then how the engineers are related to the sj. Maybe they are jist the same species but were made deliberately smaller to male them more efficient. Paradise needs to answer that for as well as if the derelict are the same size. I meed this from paradise and that the eggs in the derelict is from this very same prometheus / alien universe. I have a suspicion though that's what going to happen and that eventually we will just accept it.
I just need some clarity from p2 as to exactly how the sj and engineers relate. Otherwise I see paradise as an engineer universe movie that will perhaps as you said finally link in p3.
Paradise will then be an engineer movie that doesn't answer any real questions using unused ideas from previous movies.
Perhaps 2035 we might know after p3 merges wit alien 6 or 7 .
Sorry for the sarcasm. I just need some clarity on that a1 p1 connection otherwise I can't see the point reading and studying alien because it will have no bearing on prometheus.
Happy new year !!!
I think even if the studio doesn't want to have Xenos anymore, they don't necessarily have to depart from the biomechanical Giger universe. In fact, if David & Shaw are going to where the Engineers came from, I think it's a safe bet we'll see a lot more of that creepy architecture & style :)
No, no, no, I don't want to REBOOT Alien. Alien was perfect (bar the coccoon-scene deletion). My contention is that Prometheus (franchise) IS an Alien reboot. Basically, you can't make another Alien movie - too much broken luggage with all sorts of dirty socks and knickers hanging out of the bags.
If I were to suggest where an Alien Prequel might go it'd be, "Imagine that 'somehow' a future culture has TAMED the Xeno race and USE THEM to make hand-eggs then transport these around their star system."
SLAVE SHIP might be a fitting working title for a REAL Alien Prequel. Stripped of its cultural damping, the Xeno reverted to (brutal) type. You can imagine Pyramids in space where acolytes willingly offer themselves to Xeno 'conversion'. Oh, this is sounding so much like Logan's Run already, sorry.
:)
Reboot is way too harsh a term. I'm with Oduodo and Necronom on this one. There's far too much evidence that this is still linked to the Alien franchise. Even if the links are minimal, we still have the same company etc.
I would be fine with a soft reboot type thing if they want, but a full reboot would be too much. I'd rather have sequels and prequels actually try to tie into the original series in unexpected ways. The Mural and visual clues in Prometheus were a great way to sneak the DNA of the creature into the film.
I honestly think the best way to view this series is exactly the way Ridley and Lindelof said: a parallel series.
It's not a full reboot or a prequel...It's a parallel story. Although whatever that really means to Ripley is hard to tell at the moment...Parallel might mean that it's still following the same tracks as the original, and maybe some tracks can cross or deviate. Maybe genetics can change shape, size, and hybridize/ deviate across space and time.
The alien eggs came before Prometheus if they're in the mural. Prometheus outbreak happens after LV-426 crash landing. So things aren't as simple as a straight forward prequel or reboot would be, and I'm happy about that.
Maybe Holographic universe theories are partially true but it's also about the multiverse/infinite possibilities. Organics, genetics, and DNA are needed to transfer information and code for the organisms form, nature/nurture are important, Parenthood themes are present in Prometheus...Mother and Father themes, imo we'll see how Weyland's consciousness becomes Father and many things are already linked to every single movie (except AVP). Ripley 8 and David 8/the basketball court scene are visual/thematic links between Ripley 8 and David, although we don't know it yet. Weyland uses Gateway Station as a secret operation to program the minds of the pilots (Ripley) to jump through memories (points in space time) to subspace, and secretly accesses the space time continuum while they sleep in cryo. Pilots minds are used, they are forced into hypersleep, and skip the ships faster through space-time...The new book Alien: Out of the Shadows, could wake Ripley up to just how long her mind/body has been drifted and deceived to try to capture the Alien.
You've heard of Thus Spoke Zarathrustra and the Eternal reocuurence by now. Zarathrusta was a profit, he had the gift of foresight, like David. People sometimes experience what are called pre-cognitive dreams, they're almost like visions of the furture that many people report seeing first in dreams and then almost experiencing in their daily life. We often can't remember all of our dreams. What if some dreams and memories can be used as gateways into space-time? What if they're possible points in space-time and dreams can access alternate realities?.. David subtly edited Shaw's past simply by perceiving it, and Weyland has been trying to get the eggs for over 1000 years total.
After losing contact with the colony in Aliens, the crew gets to LV426 pretty fast from Gateway Station. Some ideas from Spaights' Passengers script may be relevant once David tricks Shaw into going to Gateway as its being built. If you do the math from where Gateway is stated to be in some of the supplemental material it doesn't add up...Ripley and the Marines get to Lv-426 at faster than light speeds, and reach the Colony not too long after the connection is lost.
This is not intended to be a reboot, it is intended to be a prequel but one that does not have to show us the timeline of events that happened to the Derelict on LV426.
Ridley is not trying to recreate the Xeno from Alien and onwards..
For all intensive purposes they was trying to link that the Space Jockey and Engineers are related, and Derelict and Juggernaughts, only they made a mistake with the scale. This can be answered in following movies to show us Engineers have different fractions of creation. The Engineers we saw are created in the likeness of the Elders from the Deleted Scenes, Mankind is created in the likeness of the Engineers and so there may be another taller fraction of Engineers that are created in the same likeness, or it could be shown the sacreficial Engineer was taller than the Engineers on LV 223.
There was a connection to Alien made, both these Ships Derelict and Juggernaught was Cargo Ships for a Bio Weapon, they are different Bio Weapons that some how share same DNA, just appear to be different way to deploy... Thus the Urns could be re-weaponized Xenos... or could be that Xenos came from the Goo.
The Mural, the strands of Xeno DNA, all point to that the Goo and Xenos are related, we just dont have the answers spoon fed to show us how....
Depending if they find any Engineers or Elders and if these they find are aware of the LV 223 outpost as far as the Goo and Urns, and Xeno will tell us if we would see more clues to the Xeno....
However if the fraction on LV 223 simply used the Goo from the start of the Movie to re-weaponize a Xeno Organism, then maybe the Elders/Engineers on Paradise may be unaware of the Xeno, and what David and Shaw are carrying with them.
If thats the case we may get even less clues to the Xeno.
I think the orginal idea was to explore who the Engineers/Space Jockey are and what they are and how they are connected, and give them a story and back ground and that back ground appears to be they created Mankind and indeed all Advanced life on Earth.
The Xeno as a Weapon etc could just be a small part of the Engineers Story and thus only partially given clues in Prometheus because they then wish to explore the Engineers more, rather than Xeno.
But with the negative coments that people are disapointed at the lack of Xeno clues and connections with Prometheus, we could see Fox and Ridley have to give us more clues in Paradise.
I for one dont want more clues....
Nope i say leave a 3rd movie that has to cover what happens to LV 223 from after Prometheus till Alien, as surely there must be nothing left to gain from LV 223 by the time of Aliens and Alien, or else why go to LV 426 when LV 223 has more rewards.
It would be then, that i would like more clues to the Xeno uncovered, in that movie to then find the Mural explored more and get answers to what connection the Eggs and Urns have.
If we find out that some ancient Organism was taken to be re-weaponized on LV 223 then that tells us that either the Space Jockey was taking his Cargo to LV 223... or that he was taking them somewhere as a Weapon but proved to hazadous and so the Engineers had to go back to the drawing board and attempt to re-weaponize the Xeno on LV 223.
R.I.P Sox 01/01/2006 - 11/10/2017
Well, Prometheus 2 is on its way in 2015, so let's see what they do with their re'franchise'.
:)
It approaches the member of the crew like a father, furious with his child for intruding on his privacy. It stands atleast 12 feet tall, it looks like a man, but doesn't. Its jaw, mouth and teeth are very much like that of a man, but it has no eyes. Its head is shaped much like a mans head without hair and its upper torso and limbs are long and skinny. It reminds the crewman of a prisoner of war but not human, not at all. Its skin is like jelly covering what looks like destorted metal pipes. They are not at all metal pipes though.
It gets closer to the crewman. Its so close now that it could just grab his throat and squeeze the life out of him, however, the crewmans legs fail him, turning to jelly with fear and awe, he falls to the ground. The giant abomination kneels down over the crewman. The crewman looks at the monsters abdomen, for the abomination is pulling open a vagina like seam in its belly.
At first, it looks like its intestines are pouring out, but it is soon clear that it is nothing of the kind. It is like some strange fat snake which is pulling itself out of the opening with long, skinny fingers. Its eye-less head slowly inflates to the size of a melon, then, it explodes. A yellowish green slime covers the crewmans face, before reversing back into the the giants abdomen.
The giant, god-like figure then rises to its feet and walks off, much like the Nosferatu, slowly and unconcerned. The crewman is now infected with this alien parasite and will soon be envoloped inside a sort of cocoon. Inside that cocoon, he will evolve into something very similar to his attacker.
That's the sort of thing i want to see in the sequel! There can't just be Shaw, David and a bunch of engineers. Surely?
BTW. I own the copyrights to the above idea ^^ Do you hear me FOX? Haha :)
The poster was good though!
I would like more xenos. Its the key to making the film work really. Ridley Scott seemed to want to do something else with a touch of Alien. So we will see what happens. Earlier he stated that if he was going to do another sequel it was going to stray on its own thread. I wonder what changes to that idea have come to pass. But we shall see.
