My theory - "storm" just near the engineers home planet did not happen by chance.

Seems like just a way to move the needle for the plot. I wondered if that storm in Prometheus was triggered by the ampule room but probably same thing here. With David being on board Covenant he must have done some hacking, maybe he found that clear goo for his embryos. The storm ionosphere hiding the planet was kinda cool. It just way to bad we did not learn JACK SHIT about the engineers! Epic world ending facepalm- thanks ridley

I think the Paradise Weather certainly could affect how much can be discovered about the World from a Far, due to Electromagnetic Interference... but are these Storms Created by Some Device of the Engineers?  Who knows.

I think the OP is on about the Solar Storm/Flare that damaged the Covenant Ship... and i find this to be unlikely unless its another quite dumb idea.

A Neutrino Burst is a event associated with the Death of a Star, and so Covenant it was not a Neutrino Burst as per say... but it was a Large Solar Flare.

I just cant see how David could remotely cause a event to cause a Solar Flare so destructive like that, Especially when he had taken a Engineer Ship from LV-223.. 

I cant see that Ship having any weapon/device it could place near a Star that then is triggered just at the right time for when the Covenant is entering the system this Star is in or near.

Also while David is 7 Weeks distance away? And so is like 6.4 Light years distance if the Covenant is about the same speed as the Nostromo or 2.7 Light years if the Covenant is as fast as the Prometheus... but then this point is not really valid as we dont know what Speed the Covenant can travel and so we cant really 100% determine how far 7 weeks would be.

I just find it to be to much of a coincidence, and to contrived for David to had set up the Blast at the Right Time, then the Signal too.

Ultimately this is a Question to Fire towards Ridley Scott or John Logan.

That is obvious that storm in Prometheus was caused by the ampule room. That might have happened when he was on a board Covenant hacking. What I like the most about storm ionosphere is that it was hiding the planet.

Of course it can be also considered as a coincidence, no one knows for sure. I still need to do my essay today and search for any other ways he did it. Just curious!

Prior to watching a:c i was thinking that david caused the detour to Planet 4.

Even though it seems a stretch that David caused the Neutrino burst i think it is possible in some way. 

I will start by saying that when Prometheus embarked, the Covenant mission may of been in the final planning stages, which gave David knowledge of its existence.

So if David knew there was a planned mission which would be flying close to Planet 4. (it took 2 weeks to get to P4 from where the Covenant was when the Neutrino burst hit.)

So David wants hosts and the Covenant is his target.

Whether David was in touch with WY or not i believe either way he knew about Covenant.

Im not a scientist this is a loose theory:

So David may of caused an event which would trigger a Neutrino Burst or whatever it was. He may of planned it, his superior brain may of predicted exactly where Covenant would be in space, then triggered an event which may of been something else but it did the same as a Neutrino burst would. So MUTHUR was fooled or on David / WY secret mission and so MUTHUR reported it as something it may not of been, but what would cause the damage it did. 

This triggers the Crew revival which leads to the signal.

Perhaps the plan needed to be super intricate to fool the senior crew members into landing.

David  knew the event would cost lives so the crew wouldnt be keen on going back in the pods, this would later, lean the crew  towards a closer world. Where as normally this would be ignored.

The signal: Wasnt picked up because of communications buffers, so David knew this and aimed the signal precisely where Tennessee would recieve it.

You never know, David may of had Plan B,C,D etc.. If Tennessee  doesnt recieve the signal, then Davids plan always had another piece, eventually he would succeed.

So I think it was an elaborate plan, whether the Burst was that and it is an event you cant predict, either way i dont believe they got to Planet 4 by chance.

David somehow done it.

Also when David arrives and they get talking, his remarks could be seen as though he knew without saying.
