ALIEN: SPECIAL ORDER - A Well-Done Alien Fan Film

'I'm a French Filmmaker and I created this film as a tribute to the Alien Saga. It's a movie that I started to develop almost two years ago all alone, and was created on spare time only. Without any budget, shot the film in real conditions was something that would be impossible to achieve regarding the need of the scenery that took place in Alien, and so, I've decided to develop it through the Source Filmmaker, a video game engine created by Valve Software, that allowed me to create an animation film in real time.'

This film offers the atmosphere of Alien, but the Aliens fans will like it as well.

MemberTrilobiteJan-10-2018 12:16 PMThere even seems to be a subtle nod to Alien 3 with the FP POV albeit no fish eye lens.

MemberTrilobiteJan-10-2018 4:50 PMI noticed that too. I also thought it was interesting a guy said "it's here" at 3:25 as if they knew what they were looking for and the Nostromo evacuation alarm was sounding at the end as if a ship was perched on the site sort of like the egg silo was imagined early on.

MemberNeomorphJan-11-2018 7:51 AMThanks, I like that movie. It has the feeling of the first alien movie and like a computer game. Yes there are still ways that they can make the Xeno scary again, this proves it although it was a little too much like the first one if we are talking about bringing new things but the fear was there and it was better done than in AC.
In case they want to they can make a longer alien movie where we get more character development but I like this one.
LOL! This movie has no fluting, yay! :D
More scenes with a feeling like this for the next movie would be great but that is not to say that they need to copy a lot from Alien or Aliens. I liked that there is a lot of darkness so you don’t exactly see everything that happen and you get more understanding for the fear that the persons are in, that they are chased by a killing monster and that there is also not very much that they can see so they don’t exactly know what direction it comes from or if there are more of them.

Yes! You are totally right.
This short can be a prequel to Alien! There were people in the silo before the landing of the Derelict. Or we see another chamber of the silo...
Or there was another manned mission to LV-426 before the events of Alien...
Another crew on the moon before the arrival of the Nostromo. Their mission failed so they redirected Nostromo to look for them... Nostromo was their Plan B. This idea could work in an Alien prequel I think...

MemberChestbursterJan-13-2018 8:50 PMNice video. Things sure did go bad quickly!
Not to try and pick holes in the story, but....
It would seem kind of odd for a handful of people to just descend into the cavern without any weapons. That one person was just recently impregnated by a facehugger. She had to be because she woke up when the "nightshift" came in. I'm sure that they would have known something was up down there.
Yet, at the very end... the ship leaves everything behind.
This brings the question, then...
Were they brought to the cavern on purpose to feed the aliens or allow them to produce more. Hence the name "Special Order". It was some kind of set up then. Once everybody on the ship landed, then the member in charge of the ship (most likely AI working under special order which the crew would have no knowledge of) would leave.
It's short and somewhat vague, yet all of that just adds to film.
Well made and I do like the story.
I'm glad I watched it!

MemberTrilobiteJan-13-2018 10:45 PMAs Ati said, it could make a nice Alien prequel with the egg silo. It was interesting being pointed out they were not armed- maybe they were not expecting combat/trouble. EXCEPT- one guy said "It's here" when the queen was heard, implying they kind of knew what they were looking for. We can speculate all day long (as we usually do) about this short. It leaves a lot of questions but works as a nice pretty self contained short.
