MemberDeaconFeb-01-2018 5:13 PMI think this is interesting News, mainly because Ridley Scott can show Disney what he is capable of, and if the Merlin movie is a Financial Hit, and RS does a great job in directing it and the visuals, then this would gain him BROWNIE points... with Disney.
Which could mean RS could get one step closer to eventually continuing his Alien Franchise Prequels.

MemberXenomorphFeb-01-2018 11:41 PMFor me it looks like an alien movie is not in Disney's plans for the moment. They want to stick to family and kids friendly movies as they did so far. If Merlin would be a success they would rather do a sequel of it than an alien one.
Fox should not have sold to Disney. Greedy basterds.

LOL i do need to remember most on here are not from England and so wont know what a Brownie in this context is lol, its like the UK's version of a Girl Guide, and Brownie Points is basically doing a Good Deed that gets you praise and respect.
So basically what i was saying is that with Ridley Scott working on the Project, if he can do well with this he can show Disney what he is capable of, and get on GOOD TERMS... so getting Brownie Points means getting on Good Terms/Impressing someone, and in context to RS is so that maybe Disney would be open to listen to what RS has planned for the Alien Franchise.
I think if RS was not chosen to be a part of Disneys Merlin Saga, or any other Disney Project i think there would be less chance of seeing Disney do Ridley Scotts Alien Prequels.... but if RS is to be part of the Merlin Production then he can use it as a means to maybe push his Plans for the Franchise.

Alright I get it, thanks for the explanation. To me it still sounds like something sarcastic that you give to someone who really has screwed up.
Alright, let us see where this will go.

MemberFacehuggerFeb-05-2018 10:56 AM@Thoughts_Dreams, you're not far off. The Oxford English Dictionary says that a Brownie point is probably a development of 'brown-nose'. Yuk.

I get a nasty mental image from this. (The nose covered in poop) Eeew!!
Seriously though, if they will make the next alien movie one about David then I would rather not have any movie at all for the simple reason that it would feel like a waste of time to watch it. I watch it for interesting human characters and the monster, not a story about an android.

MemberXenomorphFeb-12-2018 1:00 AMWhy can't you look at David like at an interesting but evil human character. He is behaving like one. He is not the kind of AI we have seen in othe films, like Terminator or Ex Machina or Chappie or Transformers.
David could tell an interesting story with the xenomorph by his side.

MemberDeaconFeb-12-2018 9:52 AMI think thats a good point...
We have to ask what is AI... and it does not have to mean Crazy Robots... the bigger theme at play is Creation, and David is to us as we are to the Engineers, only that he is a Synthetic Creation and not a Natural one... But then as RS said in his one interview... Batty was AI, Rachael was AI
Yet they are Organic.... they are just not created Naturally like how a Human comes from their Parents via Child Birth, and it also shows that the Replicants are Programed not only via Genetics to be Stronger and Faster, but they also have their Brains Programed... They are Organic Artificially Created beings.
So when RS says the next movie would be about AI more, this does not mean its going to be just about David..... in effect the Xenomorph is AI, it could be our LV-223 Engineers are a form of AI/Replicants.
You have to agree with Thoughts_Dreams that we need more interesting Characters, as every movie after Alien 3, the Characters were all just Plot Devices really to drive the Plot... Alien Resurection only Ripley 8 and Call was developed well, in Prometheus only David and Shaw but then Shaw had some Charateristics that was not well written... Janek, Vickers both played Support Characters, which Janeks was well written... Alien Covenant only Walter and David seemed to be written with any effort, and i think Daniels and Oram to a degree...
They simply all never had the Character Depth with ALIEN, saying that Aliens had a lot of throw away Characters though, but was more better done than all movies we had seen after Alien 3

MemberPraetorianFeb-13-2018 12:02 PMAt least we can deduct from the news that Disney is talking to Ridley Scott about a project daliens.
I am as excited to see the Merlin saga as much as I am excited to see The Counselor. I might watch The Counselor next year if wasted time becomes healthy and aliens invaded and stole all other movies on this planet.

If they say that he is an android then that is what I take it as no matter how human like that he is. Nope, I am interested mainly in the human characters and not AI but I see what you are trying to say though.
