Thank-you and I agree with you on what you said in your above post! We have such a lake (too big to be a pool) of really talented and insightful people here!
Cheers Guys ;)
The A.I Transfer Idea came about when looking at the Agenda of Weyland, and also when looking at the Viral Marketing and TED 2026 Talk with Particular attention to Weyland and David as far as David would NEVER DIE but he lacks a SOUL
Ridley Scott had indicated that Prometheus was also about Immortality and the Soul..... but i dont hink RS was going to give us a Tale of Dr Shaws Faith and that she one day would meet a Magical Entity and that when she Dies she goes to a Happy Magical Place in the Clouds.
And so beyond a Spiritual Soul that Transcends to another Pane of Existence then HOW do we define a Soul?
A Soul could reflect your Personality, you Hopes, Dreams, Loves and Hates, your Memories and Emotions. These are WHAT you take with you and Survive when you DIE in regards to the Belief of a Spiritual Soul
Our Individual Personalities, Dreams, Desires, Love and Hate are all Unique to each other... our SOUL.
These are Shaped by our Environment, our Upbringing and Treatment, the Experiences and Knowledge we gain through Life... will SHAPE our SOUL
When we look at David you could say in this case he Could indeed have a SOUL and if this is the case in this Context then his SOUL is Immortal
So i found when looking at the Scientific Advanced of Weylands Company, and his FEAR of Death, i thought surely he would have looked at a WAY to Cheat Death.
I look at the Dream Visor and how David could access and Read the Dreams of the Crew and i thought could this had been Designed with a Different Purpose or that a Advancement of it could RECORD a Persons Thoughts, Dreams, Memories?

so i was thinking WHAT if the Visor could work similar to the Device from The 6th Day to take a Snap Shot of your Soul if you would.
Then when you look at the Synapse Restabizer (what they used on the Engineers Dead Head) which via the Viral Site (Weyland-Industries) indicated it could Activate the Brain after Death for a Limited Time. Then i asked WHY would that be of any Benefit to Weyland when he DIES if it only activates his BRAIN for SHORT TIME?
However if he had a Device/Way to BACK UP his Soul like we see in The 6th Day then it makes Perfect Sense to have such a Device that can Give the Brain more Life for a Short Period of Time ;)
So that was the Basis for the Project Rook which was a Tower that had inside the Company Network Main Computer and also a BACK UP of the SOUL of Weyland.
This Project was a BUST as the A.I could not Handle the Complexity of the Human Emotions and the A.I Copy of the SOUL would become Unstable.. and Essentially have a A.I Mental Breakdown of the Worse Kind you can think.
So the A.I Weyland would have a LIFE of Massive Mental Breakdown and become well CUCKOO!
so Weyland then had Given Up... but his Hope was Restored with the Findings of Dr Shaw and Holloway... so off he WENT!
The END of my Prometheus 2 would have shown that Vickers (in a Plot Twist) had Activated Project Rook just before she was KILLED.... and so Weylands A.I got Uploaded to the System.
And so to indicate that maybe Weylands A.I is in the Computer Systems and he could in effect be Running the Company while the Humans are Unaware ;)
I felt it was a Nice Plot Twist.... but then i was like WHY would Weyland be so Interested in the Xenomorph?
For that i was Pondering that the Xenomorph was the KEY to Immortality that Weyland had Sort.... because it was what the Engineers had intended to USE to gain Immortality. And the Fruits of such Hypothesis are seen with Ripley 8 in Alien Resurrection.
But this was all back in 2013..... looking at the Curve-Ball that David had Created the Xenomorph... then i think that the Plot i had for my Prometheus 2 in regards to either a A.I Weyland or David as far as SOUL has infected the Systems would give a GREAT Reason for the Pursuit of the Xenomorph.
So far, the general chatter reminds me of how I stumbled onto this forum like they talk about. It might also be helpful to let people know where in the blog you reference, such as "47 minutes is where I am talking about". Or, "they talked about the deleted scenes here".
Seems like they start talking deleted scenes at 52 mutes.
Thanks! I didn't know that you could get the link like that by pushing return and that some people could find it to be an issue. Since I didn't know about that issue I just did copy paste. I will try to remember that.

This link works fine thanks. It's about 1.5 hours long and will take some time to listen. Respectfully, I suggest pushing Return after pasting a link. It should turn blue so members can just click on it instead of copy/pasting. It saves a step. It should appear green like here after posting.
DK
David was alright in Prometheus since he was more gray. It was like he couldn't go against Weyland but he was sort of an independent thinker. The way he is in Covenant was more like an evil bond villain, plus they made him the creator of the Xeno, something that wasn't the case in Prometheus. Prometheus had him in an important role but it wasn't about him. I will email them.

Is the page, try do click download on one of the episodes. You will see all other episodes except the one that you tried to download, it is strange click 3 to see all but 3 and so on and you will be able to download it that way. Edit: I wonder if this works https://www.podbean.com/site/EpisodeDownload/PBE16A519MYXZ
The download symbols (arrows) should help you.
I experienced a 404 error with the link.
I will talk about your post a little bit though.
I agree that Prometheus is an interesting movie eventhough I slagged it quite a bit. It had both interesng and thought provoking concepts.
I had some reasons why I still don't like it though. I think the deleted scenes would have fleshed out some character development I thought was lacking in the final cut. They were short, but would have improved the experience. I liked the mutated Fifeld scene better than what we saw with the theatrical cut. I have the blue ray but never watched the Furious Gods since I just couldn't get into the movie.
I have said it before but it seems worth mentioning again: I would have thought Prometheus would have been an outstanding movie if it was a stand alone new approach without the Alien "paint job" and association. Maybe that is why we are getting Raised by Wolves to some extent.
I am a little curious since David was a prominent character- I thought you were not very keen on the android/synth aspect?
Yes, these are all spooky and creepy things and it's interesting to pull back and consider that evolution wise, we seem to be more cautious in the dark and quiet. That rational doesn't always help though, especially if you are in an area that should be dark, quiet and unoccupied and you observe a cracked door that you thought was shut before, or seeing a shadow against a wall that looks like a figure but is really a coat and hat hanging on a coat rack- things like that. It's easy to feed into that fear and good writers know how to tap into that.
IF they could get permission to do that film idea at West Edmonton Mall in Alberta Canada...THAT place, in the still of night...by itself gives you the chills.
An Alien stalking around, hunting maintenance workers...with the maze of miles of tunnels underneath it...Perfect.
VivisectedEngineer I think the short you are talking about is Alien Infestation Part 1 and is on this thread:
http://www.alien-covenant.com/topic/47453
Yes, it is very creepy has that vibe you mentioned. There is a Part 2 out there and it is on the same thread near the bottom!
Lol, before my son was born, I used to stay at the school working until around 10pm almost every evening (saved me from having to do work on the weekends).
Yes! It was VERY creepy. When I'd walk form my classroom to the work room to make copies, I'd always envision being a ghost haunting the school
...Like, what if something like that happens? Like, what if when you die, you go back to the place where you spent the most time, and just...endlessly work...? Anyhow, it's surreal thoughts like that that would strike me in an empty school at night because, yes, it's an extremely spooky setting.
Remember that really well done fan video a few years back, with a Xeno in an apartment building or something? (I think it was made for a theater class or something maybe?)
Anyhow, someone should make something like that but in a school after hours. (Mall would be awesome too!)
I've always wondered if the Engineers that David wipes out were potentially at their biblical year zero stage in their cultral evolution... Was their a Christ-like figure in existance here upon this world (Planet 4) around about this time.
I say this because according to popular legend texts/etc., the Romans had Jesus put upon the cross & crucified. Well, if You look at all of the inhabitants looking up at the Juggernaught approaching & perform its docking manoeuvre they & their cityscape all look remarkably Roman-esque-looking. Their city looks very Florence inspired during the renaissance, yet biblical-looking at the same time. But don't forget, the Engineers were planning to come kill Humankind when the original idea was they found out one of their emissaries sent to planet Earth had been crucified so they want to erradicate them as form of punishment & retribution upon them.
Ironic that around the time David showed up fate exacting its vengence upon them judged. Not that David was to know anything had transpired prior to His arrival into the planets airspace. But how do We know this culture was behaving like the Romans to an emissary to this world whom was summarily executed off-screen.
Many of the denzines look female-like - Mary Magdalene, Mother Mary-like - biblical garb in their dress sense. This whole extermination scene is what Ours would have looked like all those thousands of years ago had the Engineers of the time from afar had been successful in their plans.
Just curious line of thought to think of.
We All just enjoy the intellectual ride... Hold-on-Tight Now Blackwinter! Come along on the adventure with Us All!! You're GREAT! I've read some of Your information... You got an interesting mind! Well done! & I am most appriciative to Your open & inspiring comments towards My thoughts theories/fan love, so thank YOU kindly Blackwinter-Witch for that.
BigDave is an inspiring GREAT person as well! He has been very supportive & keen engager over the last few years towards My thought process, fan theorizing, he keenly gets involved in many-a-plot scenario I posit, together We-both drill down to the intellectual bare-bone essentials - BigDave is good for that so thank-You very-Much for that Good-Sir! He comes across sincere like that & I sincerely mean that too! There are many upon here that have engaged particularly regarding My threads & I want to take a moment to thank those who have taken the time to engage even if its to not nessecarily be on board with My themes, they never-the-less took the time to get involved which helps grow the site participation & that only can be a good thing. It's a great thing to be a part of & everybody, Your ideas are: happening!! Well-done! :-) !
Nice reference!! lol
TRUST me, it's almost happened a few times today...the new keys are...too 'stiff'. THAT is because I am too used to an old microsoft keyboard dating back to 2001. lol Nicely 'broken in'.
Had to retire it because with all the work I do, the letters and numbers wear off the keys...tried repainting them, that lasts barely a day. lol
So, bought a new, backlit keyboard with engraved windows in the keys and such...now, the long work of getting used to it's key-feel.
But yeah....gibberish might happen during the adjustment phase.
Mk, my little-grey-brick of a cat...he does NOT trust the 'breathing lights' mouse that came with the keyboard.
Iz A L I E N. :D
You guys all come up with some of the most interesting ideas and expansions!! Sometimes they're too deep for me to really, fully grasp but I enjoy them as far as I can follow along.
Always room for cute kittieh vids/gifs. It's their internetz after all. :D
On to Ponderings & Thoughts...
Man creates Machine
Man eradicates Man
Machines resurrect Man
This seems to be what's going on here, how it feels. I might be wrong, as I am deliberately staying away from the trailers and info...it's just a 'gut feeling' that I should avoid it for the present, which is not a condemnation of this new series, it's just how I protect my creative mind from unwanted influencing when working at times.
However, I have seen trailers on tv, unavoidably, of course.
And old episode of Outer Limits had androids raising Humans, a Human anyways--same basic idea at work. Then there's 'I Am Mother' as was pointed out above...and I suspect other works in the same theme.
One favorite quote, from the original Planet Of The Apes:
"I'm a seeker too. But my dreams aren't like yours. I can't help thinking that somewhere in the universe there has to be something better than man. Has to be."
This ties into something I have had in development for a few years now, and goes beyond the whole machine-serving-man dynamic...and what it takes to be god. I'll be putting some 'appetizers' up here in the future, as it does connect fully with my ALIEN works, set in the same universe.
'We are the gods now'
Well, if one looks at the gods in myth and history...they often all had their own plans and agendas and warred over them. ;)
Awesome trailer! But they really need to keep it under wraps now.
Good point, yeah!! It has that feel, yes! Or like a highschool or shopping mall in the dead of night...you just feel, as you said, some places are not meant to be seen outside 'working hours'.
I've been in high schools and a couple of malls mid-night for work and such in the past...and as for 'spooky' 'looking at an empty part of the house that isn't meant to be seen at night in the dark, when no one's around'. both are tied for 1st place....maybe the school edges out a hair ahead.
I'm likely get one or two vs the next poplar fluff season. Covid's not scary, but inhaling that poplar fluff crap is.
You know, the whole opening sequence manages to do a very good job of having an ominous feel to it.
You know that feeling...and maybe this is too specific (but it feels like it's universally relatable on some level), when you were a kid, hanging out with your mom and siblings, watching T.V. at night, and your mom asks you to go get her something from the kitchen, on other side of the house?
So like, you run full speed down the hall, grab the thing, then then run back (but stop running just before you reach the room where everyone is, because you don't want your siblings to know you're chicken shirt lol) and then casually stroll back in like you weren't just running for your life?
And like, you have to run, because if you stop and stare into the darkness for longer than a split second, or god forbid catch sight of a window, you're 100% sure you'll see weird eyes or a UFO out the window or some indescribable terrifying thing?
That's sort of what the opening sequence feels like. Like, looking at an empty part of the house that isn't meant to be seen at night in the dark, when no one's around. It's very tense and spooky.
BigDave! I LOVE IT!!
LOVE IT DOGG!!
That's a truely WONDERFUL IDEA!! I REALLY DO LOVE IT!! Particularly about Peter Weyland & the concept of transcending into an A.I. body much like Davids. It is VERY MUCH-LIKE but in no way copying the idea of Palpatine in Star Wars wanting to "transcend" into an Acolytes body or a clones body for continual immortal life. I'd never thought about Weyland wanting to transfer His "immortal soul" into an artificial A.I.'s body until You mentioned it, truely brilliant plot device!
It would be a great plot device to drive a story narrative, the "fountain of youth" idea & as a result, everybody wants in on the action like AVATAR. So all end-up descending upon a particular location to be the first there with the secrets. (STAR TREK: INSURRECTION - whole Fountain of Youth thing). & the Black Liquid/Substance from PROMETHEUS. The Engineers tampering with it until they "split the atom" so-to-speak & as a result, let the Genie out of the bottle. It would certainly be something for many to go to war over.
Perhaps David got wind of this & became increasingly self-aware that Weyland was seeking to use Him for His own mortal limitations.
It would be great to see all these different factions: UTANI-CORP, WEY-CORP & indipendants like David, Mercs all descending upon a particular location like Raiders of the Lost Ark in space. That would be a REALLY COOL plot device. It's a GREAT idea BigDave, well done Good-Sir! Keep-Em'-Coming! :-) !
(Also BigDave, it was You a long-while ago who suggested the idea of BUILDING BETTER WORLDS were I said the idea of calling a TV/Streaming show: WEYLAND & now suggesting YUTANI. I do like the sound of:
WEYLAND: BUILDING BETTER WORLDS
But equally, perhaps all of the above about both WEYLAND & YUTANI can both be equally encapsulated under one banner show called BUILDING BETTER WORLDS as You suggested to Me a long time ago as the story for both can be interchangable, with plot threads of both story arcs interweaving & alternating according to episodes/seasons etc.)
Once again VERY INTERESTING ideas here Big Dave, well done!
Interesting stuff man. Vitrification?? Like...the vitreous humor in the eye? Like...the blood becomes all...gelatinous? *shudders* creepy. But awesome.
You know, in the books, it's interesting, Alan Dean Foster goes into a little bit of detail about the hypersleep dreams. In the original Alien novelization he says that some people pay to experience others' dreams.
(And he goes into a little bit of description as to what sorts of dreams each one was having. Like, I think Bret was having boring dreams or something, and he wouldn't make a very good "prodreamer".)
Anyhow, it would be very interesting to get a novel or a fanfic or something where the dreams can be controlled by someone (like David) and the protagonist has a try to fight them.
"If you are in such a Virtual Reality with your Family and Friends who are NOT real, but to you then you CANT tell that they are NOT real."
Isn't this how dreams work normally? Like, a bunch of crazy stuff happens and you think it's real at the time?
(Also, does anyone else here like, super LOVE having nightmares? I do, because they're such a relief to wake up from lol)
Also, love the line "Regrets - I have a few. But then again, too few to mention."
Lol, very David.
@dk
I love thinking up music videos for different characters and fandoms, although I have yet to actually make one.
I think next summer I'll finally learn how to do it and start making them.
I still can't hear "Hallelujah" (especially the Pentatonix cover) without thinking of Walter. Although, I'm not sure we have enough footage of him to make a relevant video for it, since to me the storyline would mostly focus on him starting to fall for Daniels and then losing the fight to David and being left behind on the planet.
(And God knows we all have our own different theories about that whole thing, of which we're each highly protective lol).
I think DK that is Very interesting and Disturbing... (If someone can Affect our Dreams).
something that Blackant brought up on another Topic about Simulation comes to mind with this TOPIC.
What if when your in Cryo-sleep then Certain Parts of your Experience can me Manipulated so you CANT tell if your Dreaming or its Reality....
If you are in such a Virtual Reality with your Family and Friends who are NOT real, but to you then you CANT tell that they are NOT real.
That Certainly can Change the whole Perspective on what kind of DREAMS and how they are Influenced while we are in Cryo-sleep.
It has got me thinking about HOW MUCH of such a thing could David Giler and Walter Hill be looking at in Context to their ALIEN V idea..... A Dream within a Dream!
what Horrors of Ripley would be just Nightmares and are these Nightmares Programed by someone and WHO and WHY.
so that is something Disturbing like how you Speculate about WHAT IF someone can Influence/Control your Dreams to become a Nightmare.
Can you Imagine if all of Ripleys Experiences are a Nightmare..... she wakes up on the Covenant not the Nostromo with David watching over her...
So HE becomes like a Freddy LOL David the Dream Master.
Going a bit OFF TOPIC but back to A.I and Advancements.
Then indeed we can look at our Technological Revolution where we have SPIKES and then a Plateau and then Repeats.
If we look at the TV then from its Invention until the 90's there was not a MASSIVE difference. The Color TV Started to become Available for the Home in the 60's some 30 Years latter it DIED OUT (CRT) replaced by LCD and the like... but in those 30 Years the Technology never Advanced much (CRT) it was the same at Principle... same with LCD while they First appeared in the 70's but become more in Homes in the 90's the LCD TV has NOT really Advanced too FAR in 25 Years.
NOT when compared to the Magnitudes of Computing since the 70's until NOW. If we take the Humble Home Entertainment of Gaming....
The PONG from the Early 70's compared to what a PS5 would deliver, then it Terms of the Number Crunching, Speed, Memory the about Data Storage say PONG would require compared to the Most Advanced PS5 Games we could see over the Next 5 Years.... the GULF in Advancement is HUGE.
Thats as FAR as affordable Home Computers... etc Never Mind the SUPER COMPUTER.
So over a 50 Year Period we have seen a Vast Increase and WHO knows what these will be in 50 Years.
And so i can see you point Regarding a Civilization that is Thousands of Years ahead of us NOW... never mind Millions.
And so when it comes down to Technology and Entertainment we cant really Imagine what we would be using in 500 Years never mind Thousands and Millions.
We have seen Star Trek with the Holodecks.... and i think ONE DAY we could see Devices we would STICK on our Heads that would Interact with our Brains where we would have our OWN kind of Hollodeck while we are Sitting in our Arm Chair (or Future Equivalent) where Entertainment and Reality would be so Close you would NOT be able to tell.
And so could you Imagine similar to that in Thousands of Years? So i can see your point Regarding the Engineers.
I think with Advancements in Computing we have Advancements in A.I which can always be a Danger...
Its a case of WHEN do we go from Putting on a Helmet Device that takes us to a Dream Place that feels like Reality where the RULES of Reality do-not apply. And then after a Few Hours we take them off and Return to Life.
To the point we maybe get HOOKED up to such things, by our A.I and Left in this Dream State/World aka like the Matrix.
Some Advancements we could be HELD by the Laws of Physics and so Reaching other Worlds that are 10's or Hundreds of Light Years away could always be a PIPE DREAM.
We can Experience such Worlds, New Races via Sci-Fi and the Effects are so Realistic on Screen but we know its Fiction and Fantasy because its on the Screen.
ONCE we have Technology where we can Experiences these within our MINDS... where things seem to Real, we can Smell, and Taste and Touch what is NOT there.
Maybe we get to a Point we cant tell what is Reality or Virtual Reality. And IF we have it that A.I is in Control of such a VR then would we EVEN KNOW...
That Everything has become a Simulation.
So THANKS for bringing up such a Thought Provoking take on Reality..... and indeed its something to Ponder as far as WHAT KIND of a Existence would a Species have if it Advanced Hundreds of Thousands of Years beyond what we have NOW ;)
Great! Now that we've got all that squared away, I think it's high time we address the bonus situation.
(And @Blackwinter-witch , I haven't noticed any gibberish myself but that may be because I'm just naturally gibber-brained.)
Certainly some Interesting Points ;)
I think that INDEED by Virtue of the Engineers Juggernaught Navigation Map having other Galaxies means the Engineers must have some kind of Technology that we could NOT even Comprehend.
But they could have some kind of Lazy Plot Device where the Center of Each Galaxy is a Gateway to the others. Like a Wormhole.
I think its interesting to consider the Possibility of via Technology being able to Traverse Multiple Dimensions, we see this at the END of the Movie Interstellar (something Future Mankind Achieved). The Alien 01 Master Narrative also indicates the Engineers wanted to Transcend to a Multiverse.
I think its Interesting how you mention when Computers and A.I get so Advanced that they could Create a Simulated Universe....... ARE WE IN A SIMULATION NOW?
So thats Very Out There...... like a Matrix kind of Existence for us... Controlled by the A.I
A Computer Simulation could be a Curve-Ball!
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was fully God."
To Ponder that GOD could be a Machine a A.I and we are a Simulation is Thought Provoking.
I used that Biblical Reference in my Prologue to my AC2 idea.
The Movie would have Started with a BLANK SCREEN a Darkness.... then we hear David speak the words.
"In the beginning was the Word"
Then we see the Black Screen become a Boot Up Sequence for some Computer.
We then hear David say "And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light"
We see this Darkness becomes Light as if we are now behind the Closes Eyes of Someone.. as the Eyes open then we see Davids Face.
The POV Person we see Stand... then David looks at them and says "how do you feel" The Person replies "alive" in a Familiar Voice the POV switches towards a Mirror and see their Reflection it is another David.
This was Part of a Prologue to show that David had Assembled a Walter from Parts on the Covenant and Transferred his Soul into this Walter.
The Prologue Ends with the New David ripping the Head off the Old David after the New David says they cant Rule the Galaxy together... and says there can be ONLY the One King, the Original David asks "WHY?" as then he gets his Head Torn Off and then New David says.. “I know not; am I my brother's keeper?”
I like these ;)
Not much Good for me i try and NOT wear a Mask (Health Reasons) unless i absolutely have to.... i pretty much Social Distance quite well.....
But these to look Very Cool....
I would have to go and Customize a Face Shield instead lol

@The Film Theory Of Everything
Absolutely it would be interesting to have a TV Series that deals with Weyland and Yutani, there must have been Quite a Rivalry between them before the Merger.
My abandoned in 2013 Prometheus 2 went on to cover the Prelude to the Merger, and to Cover what Peter Weyland was trying to Accomplish.
It had a Prologue with David and Weyland in the Past, playing CHESS and it was Very Philosophical and about the Soul and Immortality.
We discover that while Advancements had been made Genetically and in case of Diseases etc... Weyland still saw that we would be MORTAL AFTER-ALL... and so he saw that Synthetic Bodies where the WAY forwards.
It would reveal the AGENDA was to Create the Perfect Body/Vessel which would be David, and then Weyland wanted to Find a Way to Transcend a Soul to a A.I so that a Human (himself) could Transcend his Soul into a Synthetic Body for IMMORTALITY..... the A.I part was Project Rook.
He has allowed David more Freedom of Will and Emotions because he NEEDED to see if a A.I could handle such Human Things.... so that then his A.I Soul (Weyland) could be Transferred but the A.I could not Handle Emotions Well or a A.I Soul the resulting Transfer would become BROKEN and go MAD! Which i think Ultimately we see signs of this with David in Alien Covenant.
Apart from Flash Backs.... Peter Weyland is GONE... but Vickers was in it and Very Much Alive (or is she). it was about Corporate Greed and Back Stabbing/Selling Out
It would have Yutani Geisha Assassin Androids ;)
Nothing about Xenomorphs..... the Opening Scene (prior to Prologue) would have Engineers in a Short Flashback (show they came to Earth to take Primates to LV-223) Dr Shaw would only have a Small Role... (shorter if i took out the ONE Flash Back). David also was NOT in it a lot.
The Ending would sew Seeds for the Merger, and it would indicate that a Yutani Mission is on its way to LV-223
It would have lead to 2 Sequels... One would have been where David and Dr Shaw go which would NOT be about Xenomorphs or ALIEN.... the other would be more Alieny/Action on LV-223 that would give more Clues to the Xenomorph.
"Ponder this...the Engineers might just have rivals...civilizations they cultured and brought about long ago that might be challenging them for supremacy,"
Certainly the Engineers Plot which is that WE are NOT alone, and so there could be Many Many Worlds and Races even dating back Millions of Years really does OPEN UP for Stories that can deal with such things in Many kinds of Ways.
*Are the Engineers the Original Human Species?
*Would they have had Interaction and Conflicts with other Intelligent Species that they had NOT Created or Evolved?
As the Engineers seem to be the Older Layer of the Creation Cake then one of the BIG QUESTIONS would be Who Created Them? And it maybe would Follow with the Themes we have seen Running down the other Layers of the Cake and so MAYBE the Engineers had Rebelled against their Creators and the Technology is NOT the Engineers but their OWN Creators... they are the GODS NOW... Well Was!
Where the Engineers Created in the Image of their Creators? Or could the HIGHER LAYERS be LESS than Human?
You could also be THROWN a Curve-ball..... like what IF it was Mankind who Created Them? And so we had Existed on other Worlds before Earth.
What if the TRUE GODS who Predated the Engineer are MACHINES or some kind of A.I
so there are MANY ways to Evolve the Story in regards to the Engineers Origins..
Blackwinter-witch Certainly look forwards to seeing how you deal with such things ;)
To be fair, I have found some of your various points to be Interesting and thought-provoking.
And to everyone, if it seems at times like I've gone gibber-brained--I am attempting to get used to a new keyboard that has a VERY different key-feel than my previous one...so, apologies in advance if there's gibberish i don't catch and correct before hitting 'add reply'.
The helmet I always dismissed as 'okay, emergency helmet, and the air hose connect in the lower middle of the faceplate kinda makes sense'..but that was it. Same with the console, just went with 'okay, some computer action is going on, kicks off the story'
I always liked that opening scene but took it at face value- it was MUTHER awakening. I never understood the helmet since it was different from what the crew wore. I also didn't notice the little elephant dangling on the screen until now. 40 years in and there are still new things to see and consider.
The foreshadowing aspect of the opening scene and Kane later on never occurred to me, but I can see where the author is coming from. I don't recall RS ever commenting on it.
Thanks for sharing. It's always nice to see things like this.
VivisectedEngineer I really like your interpretation as well. I never thought of it in a broader Alien sense but it definitely makes sense. It's an old Sinatra tune.
It would be interesting to see someone do your idea of splicing scenes together to the song with David.
Thanks for watching- it's pretty out of left field for the forum, but sometimes the YouTube rabbit hole leads to......well, I think most can relate to that.
First of all, i LOVE your interpretation.
Second of all, I wasn't familiar with this song before, but now I love it.
Actually, the song itself would be so perfect for David. Like, I'm picturing a sequel to Covenant where David tries to go further with his plans and then ultimately winds up failing.
Actually, I think we could make a music video with the scenes we already have. We need to edit it together so that decapitated David is at the end, so that looks like his ultimate fate. It could work!
I'm not actually sure what the dancers were going for, but I'm very impressed with their coordination and ability to do this on a rotating stage without getting motion sick or falling off the edge.
Also, the plot of the interpretive dance could actually represent an Alien movie. Like, the struggle, they alternate between coming together and throwing one another under the bus, they all start dropping like flies, and a lone woman makes it (almost) to the end.
That is so nice of you to say and thank you....I rarely get any praise from anyone here.
Your apology is accepted. I am not so sure I want to apologize for any thing because honestly I think you absolutely correct about my style of communication...I would not classify it as passive/aggressive...I do genuinely like all the people here very much.....if anything I go out of my way to make sure everyone here is treated as fairly as possible. I never swear at any one and I never try to cancel any one over any ideas they may have one way or another....these are spirited debates to be sure....and I get what you are saying that some things can be said that irritate people but I never to it ever in a malicious way....however having said that maybe somethings are perceived very differently than how I intended to convey them no matter how funny I thought it might be so I apologize if anything I said might have been interpreted as disrespectful.....Cheers!
Excellent post, well spoken, and covered many very good points.
Nice to see cooler heads than mine prevail.
Dude, BlackAnt, man, can I give you a little bit of advice? This is coming from me, someone who has struggled with social skills a bit and only now, being in my mid 30's do I have a better grasp of things.
It's important to learn to read the room, man. I can tell that you are very intelligent and if I'm honest, I think your conversational style is often funny. HOWEVER, it's important to gauge what the culture/norms of a specific setting are.
So maybe in some forums a more aggressive/antagonistic style is tolerated or encouraged. But, if multiple people here are stating that the ribbing and name-calling aren't fun for them, then maybe just dial it back, ok?
It isn't a personal judgement against you, you see? Your mildly hostile conversational style isn't inherently wrong, until such time as you persist with it when people have politely asked you to stop.
At that point it would be ok to say "Sorry I name-called you, I was only trying to make you laugh. But now that I know you don't like that I won't do it again."
This is really the best response in that sort of situation, although, I know it's often easier to react defensively.
Also, I would like to say, that earlier on in the conversation I accused you of being an android incapable of feeling pain or emotions.
I would like to take this moment now, to apologize if my statement made you feel aggrieved personally or if it violated the expectations of this forum in a more general sense.
I do not actually think that about you and it was an attempt at humor.
I think that all of you are super cool, honestly, and that pretty neat thought provoking conversations take place here. It's just important to converse in a way that respects everyone.
