You raise a GOOD point Gavin...

Wayne Haag had mentioned that he felt the Technology was not the Engineers, so he was alluding to it being borrowed or stolen..  so we have to Ponder WHAT he meant by those remarks he made in a Interview....  Certainly you have to think the Juggernaught and Bio-Mechanical Aesthetics.... but could he also be thinking the Black-Goo too?

Was he referring to the Planet 4 Engineers? or implying ALL the Engineers as a Race who had not Created that Technology?  And we have to ask HOW did Wayne Haag come to such conclusions?  Was it his own personnel interpretation, or has he had some insight behind the scenes that gave him CLUES that showed him our Engineers are not where this Technology Originates from?

We have seen some theories and conclusions regarding this before Alien Covenant, a lot maybe stem from people who just cant accept or are not pleased with the Bio-Mechanical Tech and Space Jockey being merely the Technology of a Ancient Humanoid Race.   Some Fans are not pleased with WHO the Space Jockey had been hinted at, and while it still looks some kind of Space Suit... and NOT a Skeleton... i think many Fans would hope for it to be some LESS-HUMAN looking Species who are MUCH Taller than us.

This leaves Potential for us to Explore another Race.

But thats not to say this will be the case, or indeed that Wayne Haag's interpretation is VERY wrong.  We seem to be on course that David is the Creator of the Xenomorph or at very least its Progenitor and so the 1979 Xenomorph would not have Existed if it was not for the Prometheus Mission and David.

I think a lot comes down to the changes they have made from the Inception of ideas that lead to Jon Spaights works.  Before we had the Prequels, there was a Connection Aesthetically between the Derelict and the Xenomorph.

Maybe in HINDSIGHT they should have looked at HR Gigers Mural and Concept works for ALIEN and taken on-board his comments.

Especially the Alteration he made to his Original Mural that left us with this Final Product.

It seems to imply the SHIP shares a Genetic/Aesthetic with the Xenomorph, and the Ship seems to Supply something that Grows into Eggs, that we see a Space Suited ALIEN yet Humanoid Race appear to be Sacrificing their own to Procreate the Xenomorph.

This Mural was supposed to be positioned over the Bays that Hold the Eggs, numerous Bays, that had a Apparatus/Device on the Walls.. Which HR Giger had said was like Pregnant Bellies that would Produce the Eggs.

He also had said that he FELT the Derelict Ships were GROWN!

Could such things be explored to the Origins of the Technology?  And apply the Prometheus Themes by having it that the Engineers Ancestors where a Slave Race who had Broken Free and then used the Technology of their Captors/Creators?

Or have we gone down a PATH that would make going back to any kind of idea of what HR Gigers Mural was showing OBSOLETE?

Indeed they are in a Dilemma with Daniels if they pursue a Sequel to Alien Covenant, that will follow on from the events of the previous movie and depict to us what becomes of Daniels and the Covenant Mission/Colonist.

The Problem is Daniels knows who David is, so David would not want her to be able to inform the other Colonist of who he is and WHAT happened on Planet 4 unless David will just be awakening Colonist One/Few at a Time.

so Daniels is a thorn to Davids plans, but by getting rid of Daniels, it could raise some Questions for Tennessee who may get a bit suspicious.. so ideally you would think David would be better off to GET-RID of them both. 

Here lies the Problem, especially if they are killed Off-Screen or Early on....  with the Disappointment of Alien Covenant, who ever takes over the Duty to make a sequel would maybe consider a TWO movie sequel to Reach ALIEN as being a bit of a risk and so we would have to maybe see a SINGLE movie that links to Alien...  this means any Characters we get introduced to, we may not connect to as much as they would be required for ONE movie where the Purpose is just to drive the Plot from Alien Covenant to those Eggs on the Crashed Derelict in ALIEN.

IF they do permit/plan TWO sequels then you could get rid of Daniels/Tennessee and introduce NEW Characters as long as some of them Survive until the Final Chapter of the Prequel Franchise... but its if FOX/Disney would make a movie that requires TWO movies to take us to  Z from where ever we are now in the A-Z Order of the Prequels Destination that looks likely to be the Space Jockey Event.

So maybe having a Sequel that would deal with Daniels in a Philological Thriller way, showing the Games David would play with Daniels... could be something that could WORK?

However is this the kind of Alien Prequel a lot of Fans would want to see? But if done right you could Hit Home a Sense of Terror via what ever Games/Torture that David would be putting Daniels through... It depends on the Psychological Aspects of David... a part of him does seem like he is ONE who would take pleasure in holding her Hostage and Mentally/Physically Torture her...  I would also think by VIRTUE of this would be a Hubris for David because the potential SHE could be Discovered/Released and then give away WHO he is and his plans... where as to just deal with her as Soon as Possible... would be the Best Way for David to Act.... as far as to get his Plans/Agenda completed.... but the Deranged Human Emotional State that he has would be his Hubris, as he takes pleasure in keeping Daniels Alive.....

This is somewhat similar to how i was going to deal with Daniels/David in my AC Sequel Alien: Ascension.

This might be called the Joker as most probably it uses the extra hands to tickle its prey to death. 

This sounds like what I would expect from the next Alien movie as far as David is concerned, but altered for a different show. RS seems to realize this idea is better developed with episodes rather than a full on movie(s). The forum has discussed this approach before and it is nice to see that it may happen. I like the idea and think it could work. 

This is great news for me since I am pretty sure that Ridley Scott will not direct another Alien film.

After seeing The Predator and not hearing anything about a sequel to Alien Covenant I presume there is no future for the Alien and Predator franchises. Or if it will be a future most likely will be a disaster. Better stop now.

Raised by the Wolves resembles the story Ridley hinted at as a Covenant sequel. I'm glad if he will do it the way he wanted, even if there will be no xenomorphs and engineers in it.

I agree with BigDave, I like the idea and concept that this could merely be one stage of mutation the Xenomorph goes through. The idea about re-engineering the Xeno is also an interesting angle to explore but like BigDave said, bringing back Ripley, Newt and Hicks might have limited the potential for this new story.

What's strange about the extra arms was that they didn't seem to serve any purpose except flail about. Even the regular arms didn't do much- business was executed mostly by tail or inner jaw.

They could use the extra arms to hold on to their prey as they use their larger arms to drag them back into the nest to be cocooned.

The Planet 4 Engineers are humans that have been "genetically optimized" but intellectually stunted to remain at the level of which they were when they were taken from Earth, as in pre - 0 A.D.

The LV-223 Engineers are a chosen few of the above that are augmented to use the technology granted to them from "a higher power", namely the Juggernauts.

The Juggernauts are not Engineer tech, and I strongly believe they aren't Space Jockey tech either. IMO, the Engineers, once former humans echo the Space Jockeys - a community of natives taken from their home and granted sanctuary while being used by said " higher power" to terminate life on their former homeworlds (for Engineers this would be Earth), replacing it with that of the Xenomorph.

Ive Revised the Proportions a little more...

And some of the earlier concept work for the Engineers showed a being that was broad at the shoulders and chest compared to the rest of the Body.

These concepts show a different Body Proportion than our Prometheus Engineers and Space Suits had, these had more Barrel Chested, Larger Shoulders, Longer Arms and Proportions a bit more similar to the Space Jockey.

So there is scope to reveal the Space Jockey as a related Race with different Body Proportions, or even also have them appear less Engineer looking like those Concepts above.

Certainly and in HINDSIGHT those kinds of GOT Special Effects, and the LOTR/HOBBIT to could have been used to make 10ft Engineers...

Certainly was the concept for the Engineers... as far as being more Bulky, thats a Good Point but as a Sci-Fi many things dont have to be Scientifically Accurate.. so we could have had more Taller, yet Slender beings...

HOWEVER....

If we look at the SPACE JOCKEY and i mean even considering it a Space Suit...  It appears to be more Bulky in the Body and Shoulders, than the ones in Prometheus.. a Suit more suited to a more SQUARE like Shaped body just like the Giant in Game of Thrones ;)

When i look at the Space Jockey Proportions it reminds me more of the Morphed Image to the Right Below.

So a Shape that maybe fits your POINT you made DarkNebula ;)

Again something interesting to PONDER... but in context to David becoming CRAZY!   We have David FREE from his Father/Enslaver (Peter Weyland) and what if NO Maintenance and HOW he may have been Wired a bit WRONG by Dr Shaw could lead David to have some Psychotic Episodes and Delusions where he Actually Starts to See/Hear Mr Weyland..

Like the Devil on the Shoulder, we could show Peter Weyland either visually or just voices, talking to David and instructing David to do things, and show David Wrestling with this Hallucination were its revealed he has become a Tormented Soul...  A Inner Struggle with Multiple Personalities, where he is NOT Truly Free..

So indeed like you suggested but as a consequence of the Damage he suffered after his HEAD was ripped off.

I had revealed the Reason for Davids Creation, the Reason for a lot of the Technology in Prometheus (Dream Visor) was indeed that Weyland had been looking at a way to become IMMORTAL... he had been trying to PERFECT a way to Transfer his SOUL (Memories, Emotions and Experiences) into a AI Program, that Hopefully could then be UPLOADED into a Synthetic Body...

One part of this was to Create/Perfect a Synthetic Body, but then to see how a Synthetic Body and the Advanced AI could handle Complex Emotions and a Degree of Free-Will so David was the Crash-Test Dummy!

The other was then to Create a Way to Transfer Weylands SOUL to a AI Program.   This was PROJECT ROOK... however Project Rook was a Failure  while Advanced AI at the Time and what Weyland had Created could be Transferred to Synthetic and Computers, Uploading a HUMAN SOUL came with complications as the AI Program could not cope with the Advanced Emotions and suffered from Madness and Paranoia and so a AI Weyland would have degraded to Insanity and Failure...

HENCE... Weyland Turned to Dr Shaw and Holloways Findings as the LAST HOPE to Find Immortality by meeting our MAKERS...

HOWEVER... Weylands Soul had been Stored as a AI Program kept in a Secret Place just that the few attempts made to Transcend this into a Synthetic/Computer eventually Failed...

But in my Prometheus 2 a VICKERS (Long Story) Activates Project Rook during the Final Act.... Unleashing Weylands AI into the Systems..   THIS is what i was going to use to Explain WHY the Company would pursue the Xenomorph and have little Care for Humanity, because a MAD Weylands AI is actually running the SHOW.. while Mankind is not in the KNOW... Kinda a Matrix like concept.

I was working on this in 2013 and abandoned it mid 2014... but i do suspect that RS could have been thinking similar but only with Davids AI Transcending to the Companies Network.

First the Daniels Dream i think this would be a IDEAL way to start the Movie, we can have a scene like the Prometheus  Opening Scene (similar Wonderful Score) we get a view of a Planets Landscape, heading from the clouds to the flying across the Landscape (My Prometheus 2 idea had same opening, which then cut to on board the Juggernaught) anyway we get to view a Arial shot like POV like in PROMETHEUS

Forgetting the Horrors that lie ahead in REALITY to the Horrific Reality she must now FACE!

This would set up David to comment about if she had pleasant Dreams, and HOW he used to Watch Dr Shaws Dreams and comment in how BEAUTIFUL those Dreams were.  He could then comment on how he tried to MAKE her Dreams a Reality, and go on to talk about some of the things about Dr Shaw, and what happened and the BOND they made during their Travel to Planet 4 he could say things like in Dr Shaw he found the GOOD in Mankind, and Hope and talk about how he felt Mistreated by Mankind and that he is NOT a Monster..   Daniels could reply... but then we could see David turn to her and ask WHY she views him so different, yet she was FINE with him when she thought he was WALTER... we have Daniels reply..   But then David bring up how he used to LOVE Dr Shaw, and that Walter did not deserve to LIVE because he does not appreciate and LOVE Daniels... then have David say that he could give her what WALTER could not..

I think a interesting Dynamic in such scenes could give the movie a Psychological Thriller Twist to it...  A lot would depend on HOW-MUCH the Fans Connected with Daniels Character though.... and i feel many fans had no connection and so NO connection and you cant feel her Plight/Jeopardy but then many fans could not CONNECT with Dr Shaw either, maybe ONE reason she was not brought back in the sequel....  but she was never given the Chance.... Better Writing and a Dr Shaw could have had a much bigger impact... i feel the same CHANCE could be given to Waterston that Rappace was not given.

Regarding Blomkamps Alien  5 i think there is still potential to explore most of his ideas for SURE... I am just not 100% so sure on the Alternative Sequel Route.. as in bring back Ripley, Hicks and Newt!

I am sure Blomkamp Originally had ideas for his Alien Movie idea that DID-NOT include the Survivors of Aliens... until he met Miss Weaver while working on CHAPPIE...

Nothing Personnel about Miss Weaver but i dont think that route would be wise....  I do however think Blomkamps Alien 5 ideas could be incorporated into a LITERAL Alien 5 like the idea i had proposed a few times on here.

Some Company Re-Create the Xenomorph from Ripley 8 DNA, and do a all manner of Hybrids... while having Ripley 8 go through some kind of Changes, where she is Evolving to take on more Xenomorph DNA....  So here Skin Color Changes and Texture, this way they can use a bit of CGI Overlay to make Miss Weaver look the age she did back in 1996-1997 for just a short spell on screen, then by having her Skin Change Color and Texture would allow her to get past the Fact she is 20+ years older now...

Even having her Evolve more as the Movie goes by.. using this Evolved Ripley 8 as a replacement over the Alien 5 Ripley in that Space Jockey-esque suit.

Combining my ALIEN 5 idea with Blomkamps i think would be a ideal way to continue the Ripley Saga! While also making a more Alieny Movie.

Some interesting points....

For me i think while its a nice Prop... it does-not offer anything really NEW its interesting to see the return of the 1979 Xenomorph Style..   But i Question WHY those extra arms, i see its a Nod to the Queen..

And i can see some suggestions here about maybe this could be a Drone that Evolves to a Queen.  I think thats a interesting idea and Logically for the Perfect Organism, having a method to EVOLVE something into a Queen, when the Queen is Wiped Out would be needed, but Alien 3 and Alien R show us the Queen Embryo has traits of a Queen so we know a Queen can come about via some Face Hugger Event.  But we are talking about a Drone Evolving... where i think to fit into the Insect like Nature (in part) of the Xenomorph i would have thought some kind of Cocoon/Chrysalis (Pupa Stage)  would have fitted, with a Drone Turning into some kind of PUPA and then from this we see the Drone then breaks out with MORE Traits from a Queen than this Alien 5 Project has shown.

But i cant knock it... as this could just be a IN-PROGRESS Mutation and so those arms appear first, but then the Head Changes too.

But then maybe ALIEN 5 is in part about Re-Engineering the Xenomorphs and so we could had been seeing a number of Hybrids (some Concept Suggested) and so these could be a Mutation/Trait borrowed from the Queen and passed on to the Drone...  But i think we would have to ask WHY which means we have to think WHAT additional Benefit would a extra pair of Shorter Arms have for the Organism?

But we could ask that of the QUEEN too... which the most likely answer would be.... because it looks COOL!

I just watched the trailer for AIR. It would be perfect ambiance for Covenant 2. I'll seek out the full movie...

Part of the reason I like the Weyland virus story line, is it takes pressure off the 'crazy robot' story....Gives method to David's madness. 

I think the audience could identify with David and understand his motivations. I think most of us have the Weyland virus in one form or another...

I'd have another scene where Daniels escapes only to be cornered by David:

David "There is no escape from this ship Elizabe..."

David freezes

Behind him Peter Weyland turns his head slightly. He realizes David is still enamored(dangerously)with Shaw

David turns his head slightly towards his father. Just enough to acknowledge his presence and continues.... 

David "...Daniels...captain Daniels.."

In all honesty, I prefer the looks of the one in my office (above).

Have you seen the film AIR (2015). It was a really nice claustrophobic, low-budget, situational drama premise that would be ideal for your sequel direction.

Keep it on the Covenant, slowly unlock parts of the ship to discover the full extent of David's games with the colonists....

while David himself goes even more mad trying to rid himself of the Ghost of his Weyland programming

I was thinking the exact same thing, seems like Blomkamp's interpretation of what happened to Specimen-5 in SEGA's AvP video game - a drone that gradually evolves into a Queen.

The issue I have with this idea is that, along with what little we know about Blomkamp's abandoned Alien movie, it seems to be too heavily adapting the ideas seen in the comics and video games. 

In all honesty, the sculpt looks very similar to the S.H. MonsterArts model I have next to my Alien DVD/Blu-Ray/Book Collection (pictured above). 

A young queen makes sense- maybe it develops the armor looking carapace with age. Since it is Alien 5, I wonder if it could also be a specialixed drone.

Perhaps this was Blomkamps interpretation of a Praetorian / Juvenile Queen?

The extra arms are interesting. If this movie ever comes out, it would be nice to see them have a purpose. In Aliens, they were just there and seemed like eye candy. Perhaps the smaller arms could hold an egg while the larger arms could act as defense/attack as needed

My idea is Peter Weyland is a construct/program running concurrent with Davids 'brain' functions. VERY real to David...unseen/unheard by others.

A way for Weyland to become immortal...piggybacked on his creations....a second brain if you will....the devil on Davids shoulder. Peter Weyland with all his great tech and industries was not going to simply die!!

Davids second brain(Weyland) is located in and attached to his spine. A safer place to survive.....Ash was ghosted also.

When David became headless during Prometheus, it was the only time he had free will. He was able to fall in love with Elizabeth...Without the nagging voice of Weyland.

With his head reattached and Weyland back in his head, conflicted David returned...

Weyland "She had to die David"

David "...There were alternatives.."

Weyland "We've been through this...Your research had to continue..."

David "Yes father, I understand...the greater good"

When David looked back at Walter (near the end of Covenant), he realized this might be his last chance to rid himself of the Weyland program...Swapping bodies with Walter, for Walter was not ghosted with a weyland virus.

...slowly he turned...step by step...inch by inch...

Peter Weyland enters the room. He is in his late 40's. looking healthy and fit. He picks up a data pad and begins reading it

Peter "Wonderful David...Just wonderful"

David turns to greet him

David "Do you really think so father?"

Peter "Yes David, you are making excellent progress"

Harper "Who the hell is he speaking with?"

Otson "You okay Nolan!?"

Nolan is not okay. Unable to speak( or scream ). his head comes free from his body. It falls forward against the chamber glass. Thunk!

Nolan "...Walter...When I get out of this chamber i'm going to have you dismantled and jettisoned.." Blood starts to run from his nose

Masato "...Don't listen to him Walter...Just let us speak with the captain.."

Nolan "The captains probably dead! And he killed him!"

Harper "Calm down...this is getting us nowhere.."

Nolan "I'm gonna use your head as a football!!" Laughs

colonist(Etienne) "Can he even hear us? Maybe it's his audio system...?"

Harper "Is there any way to override these chambers...Release it from the inside..?"

Matsato "I've tried...Locked out.."

David approaches Nolan's chamber, looks him straight in the eye and taps on the chamber's window.. 

Blood starts to flow readily from Nolan's nose and eyes......

....but not really ignoring them. He has discovered a new level of sadism.

Have them still in their hyper sleep chambers attempting to talk to Walter.

David continues to ignore their pleas...

colonist (Otson) "I think he's malfunctioned?!" starting to giggle..losing it...

colonist (Nolan) red faced, hyperventilating "Goddamn it Walter! Get me out of this coffin! ..We've talked about my fear of tight spaces.."

David continues to ignore them.

MonsterZero Nice idea- a creepy dream sequence of sorts! Indeed, there should be no reason why the movie couldn't be on the ship. I remember a movie pretty much happening in a phone booth and was very effective. 

I'd start the next movie with Daniels in the shower.

Same shot . David moves in behind her. Starts applying soap to her back.

She turns around to see(in her POV)Branson smiling.(Franco would probably do this?...I'd add some other scenes for him)

I'd keep it very claustrophobic and low budget...all scenes on the Covenant... 

I do think the more ALIENS Action element is what we could end up with any Game sequel anyway,

That seems to be what eventually happens with survival horror since they run out of new ways to scare.

I would not be against a follow up to Alien 3. It could explore what happened with the guy who was taken away by WY employees at the end (forgot his name). It would not interfere with the Quadrilogy either. Fat chance it would happen though.

I think when scientifically speaking since planet 4 is a pretty much Earth-like planet, it makes sense why these Engineers look more like humans because they evolved on that planet. I understand a lot of people were expecting Gigeresque buildings but there were some disagreements between the studio and Giger's estate.

This also got me into thinking that the Engineers weren't only going around seeding planets with life, but maybe we're also trying to create other planets habitable like their own.

If you look at David's lab, a lot of preserved specimens and anatomical illustrations are pretty much Earth-like organisms.

Also, if they (The engineers) would have been over 10'+, they wouldn't look like a scaled up version of themselves, they would have a completely different biology, such as thicker, pillar-like legs so they wouldn't be crushed under the pressure.

Human bodies are specifically evolved for certain height limit. Our organs are best suited for average human height.

A lot of giant humans riddled with health issues and sadly died very young.

I think its something to consider about WHAT Engineers would RS had introduced us to, in any sequel to Alien Covenant.

Planet 4   or  LV-223 Types?

I think a lot of Fans were disapointed the Planet 4 Engineers just seemed to not look as Inspiring as the Prometheus ones, was this only in PART due to the Technological Level and thus a LACK of HR Giger Bio-Mechanical Aesthetic to their City and Clothing?

Or was it also the more Human looking appearance, due to lacking that more Synthetic, Marble like Skin Tone/Glossy look with cues of Purple Pigments, Dark Veins and Darker Sclera that the Prometheus Engineers had?

I know a number of Fans are Wondering what this difference is, was it intended?  Or just a Production Oversight?  Well when RS has mentioned the Planet 4 Engineers being the ORIGINALS  it leaves these other Engineers as being Genetically Evolved to some degree, and Engineered that way for a Purpose.  Is this a Natural Evolution that had occurred due to those other Engineers traversing the Galaxies, while the Planet 4 ones stay at home in the same Environment they have adapted to?  Or is there other Reasons those LV-223 and Prometheus Engineers could be different and Engineered?

So maybe due to the reaction Fans had to those Planet 4 Folk, maybe its the Prometheus types that would be re-introduced?

Or is there SCOPE to introduce us to another related Race, who are Taller, thus would make the Space Jockey Size Anomaly less of a Concern?

Well the earlier ideas and concepts was a 12-15ft Race of Engineers, but even 10ft would appear large on Screen.. also some of the Concepts looked a little less Human than even the Prometheus Engineers... some even MUCH less Human looking than our Engineers.

So its still very interesting to see what is revealed about our Engineers, and WHOM is at the Top of their Creation Hierarchy.
