Alien/Prometheus Christmas Special, anyone? I mean, the Star Wars version was a staggering success, after all.

first , Sulaco welcome aboard this forum ...
I think we are starting to agree that are suits ...inside there is an abomination or a human shape ? We all fear is a human shape but we will see ( lets not forget that many Giger works are with very human shapes , and are quite "scary" anyway )
Regarding Guy Pearce we think to have saw him in a frame ( in the first or second preview of the trailer ) and he was in suit ... 80% sure hes him but we will see

While I always thought the whole "Ancient Astronaut" thing is cool, it is TOTALLY bullsh!t. There's just WAY TOO MUCH evidence against it.
Reply20thcenturybuickPrometheus ForumRidley Scotts idea of the Ancient Astronaut TheoryJan 18, 2012
it is bullshit we have jumbo jets, supercomputers icbms fitted with nuclear bombs spaceshuttles, and genetically engineered crops, and these hustlers that are barely archaelogists are like how did early humans move these boulders!!!! must have been ufos1!11 fuckin spindoctors . making history a mystery. great now in 2000 years we wont understand how humans today could possibly make microchips..clearly that was the work of boogey men!

Apart from the real-time tracker map at the beginning - which is obviously horse manure - I found everything else to be - dare I say it - plausible, so I actually quite liked Stargate.

Sir Ridley has only made 2 previous science fiction films - and both are in the top 5 all-time great science fiction films, which is of course just my opinion, but I'd gladly challenge anybody to name 5 better sci-fi films than Alien and Bladerunner.
Given that, Prometheus will be epic in scale and tale.
ReplySubterraneanHomesickPrometheus ForumIs Katie Dickie the second Android?Jan 18, 2012
Well, Mentos, my first thought when I read this was: well, she could obviously be a doctor. But then: if she were a doctor, wouldn't you expect to see her sitting by the wheel-chair guy on the scene when the battered Shaw staggers into the room? On the other hand, maybe this scene happens after minute 28 haha
ReplyFrantzPrometheus ForumIs Katie Dickie the second Android?Jan 18, 2012
why they should do a such ugly android ?? :D
ReplyjujutsukaPrometheus ForumIs Katie Dickie the second Android?Jan 18, 2012
I imagine that after 5 years of not using your muscles, whether in cryo-sleep or not, they'd have atrophied enormously. Christopher Reeve needed extensive physical therapy after he was paralyzed. I don't conceivably see how you could rehab an entire crew to a point where they're functional (and able to run in terror, flee from a gargantuan ship that's crashing, etc.) without prolonged physical therapy lasting several weeks, at the least.
So I think that the plot details revealed in that interview are bogus, that Mudow isn't an android, and that we'll have to suspend our disbelief and accept that cryo-sleep in the Alien universe preserves muscle mass, as portrayed in Alien.
ReplyMentosPrometheus ForumIs Katie Dickie the second Android?Jan 18, 2012
Good points guys, I think the interview is faked to be honest, but its an interesting one to hash out.
ReplyJuxtaposePrometheus ForumIs Katie Dickie the second Android?Jan 18, 2012
Maybe she has a total of 28 minutes on screen, ...and she does'nt die only 28 minutes into the movie....plus she might be the first casualty?
ReplybigbirdjimmyPrometheus ForumIs Katie Dickie the second Android?Jan 18, 2012
So how about this crazy idea, just follow me here:
If Mudow is an android and "helping" the crew after the 5 year sleep, she is distroid after 28 minutes? This tells me something. In Alien, Ash had hidden motives, remember he turned out to be a "bad guy". And why did she die/get destroid so quickly? Did she redirect the ship to hand deliver the crew to the aliens/SJ? To me it sounds like when the crew is waking up, the aliens where already there. The crew would not be able to be up to much of a fight or to defend themselves against the SJ. You know that the "Company" wants the perfect wepon/organizim. What do you all think?
ReplyFrantzPrometheus ForumIs Katie Dickie the second Android?Jan 18, 2012
btw is NOT Mudow.... ..is Imora

Due to the Sumerian writings in Prometheus, it is looking like the Engineers are the Sumerian Gods that created man as slaves until the humans got too uppity and left.
It makes me think.
Maybe the xenomorphs were specially created to wipe the human race out, the face huggers fit well with our head, and we would not have been able to fight the xenomorphs as we would have just had sticks and stones back then. They seem adapted to our environment and has blood that is extremely corrosive to us.
The Engineers needed to clear out the humans to start afresh, so they packed a bomber with these eggs to drop onto earth and sent it to earth. The bomber crashes on the moon in Alien due to impregnation of pilot and crew by xenomorphs, human race survives. It would be ironic that the things that were made to kills us off, saved us.

They are the Annunaki basically. Who knows hey...
ReplyXenophobePrometheus ForumGods/Engineers/Space Jockey's. . .Jan 18, 2012
Hmmm perhaps! Just interesting as this film looks like it's the first since I can remember, that will deal with the very creation of everything. I can't wait to see it! Also, I believe that the SJ will ultimately not be as evil as we're lead to believe. . .
ReplybigbirdjimmyPrometheus ForumGods/Engineers/Space Jockey's. . .Jan 18, 2012
LOL. With everyone giving their ideas and plots, myself included, when I get in that theater and sit down, everything is out the window. I will purely watch with a open mind and antisipation. Cant wait! I love it!
ReplyspacejockeyitchPrometheus ForumGods/Engineers/Space Jockey's. . .Jan 18, 2012
Good call bigbirdjimmy. I am curious, though. Will whoever makes the most correct predictions about Prometheus win? And what do they win?
ReplyjujutsukaPrometheus ForumGods/Engineers/Space Jockey's. . .Jan 18, 2012
Vegas should start taking bets on crucial plot points. Each theater will then have an announcer calling the play-by-play like a horse race. Cue nail biting and hair pulling, bet winners whooping with joy, the losers sinking into the theater seats with heads in hand.
ReplyRickKPrometheus ForumGods/Engineers/Space Jockey's. . .Jan 18, 2012
I'm betting that the SJ (or mutated human) seen in the original Alien - having become inpregnated him/herself - actaully crashed the derelict ship there on purpose to keep it from reaching it's intended destination (earth?)

maybe a chance to direct AvP 3! LOL. reward?
ReplyStarbeastPrometheus ForumGods/Engineers/Space Jockey's. . .Jan 18, 2012
Lol @bigbirdjimmy. I'd love to direct AvP 3. We've had the Pred-alien but wait till you see the ET-alien or the ALF-alien.
@Lyle, in my opinion, Ridley will not be borrowing existing ancient art and literature, but creating a new history, for instance, it's a new dig in Africa where they discover the Gods.

basically slaves revolted against the pharoes, then again in rome against the emperors , then again in france against the kings etc etc....these rulers deemed themselves as gods with divine rights etc etc..thats the actual history that scott is going to science fictionalize
but anyways the rulers would tell their slaves...you must serve us because we are great and come from the sky..and you are low and come from the ground...this type of propaganda was to make them think that they are born to serve their masters that are somehow fundamentally better than them
just how would humans rebel succesfully against beings that can create planets
ReplyMentosPrometheus ForumQuandryJan 18, 2012
I think the shot you've mentioned takes inside a SJ temple when the Prometheus ship lands on the mystery planet. I think the ship crashing comes much later in the film, probably at the climax. Essentially the ample room isn't part of the SJ ship.
Reply BiomechanicPrometheus ForumQuandryJan 18, 2012
It looks like the ship to me but I think this could be before it crashes.
I am also starting to think the crew's suits are designed to pump some kind liquid through the tubing to regulate body temperature. In Alien the egg chamber was described as like the tropics but the rest of the planet was probably cold. I think when in the cold environment the pump acts as a heater and circulates warm orange liquid that expands the suit and colors the tubing. Maybe the ampule room and parts of the ship are a comfortable temperature so they turn off the pump or it starts circulating a cooler blue liquid.
ReplySubterraneanHomesickPrometheus ForumQuandryJan 18, 2012
I have a quite different (again speculative) opinion: the shot is indeed taken in a chair room inside a derelict, which, after some mechanism is triggered while visiting the temple, has risen from beneath the dusty surface to an upward position - which would explain the sandstorm and the shot of Shaw (?) looking at the risen ship.
We would then realize that the temple was inside the ship just as the cargo bay with the eggs was inside the original derelict in Alien.
I believe that the suits will be used by the humans to try to fly the ship, causing a lot of unforeseeable err... problems.
Note: I believe that the orientation of the room is irrelevant, because the room would have a system to automatically adjust it with the orientation of the ship.
Replylet'sgospacejockin'Prometheus ForumQuandryJan 18, 2012
It's a promo shot people. The two things (Shaw and Corridor) might not have anything to do with each other. It's probably not a real scene. Shaw looks photoshopped into the shot.
ReplyserratedproboscisPrometheus ForumQuandryJan 18, 2012
@let'sgo: THANK YOU. So many of these "shots" from the movie look like promo shots. They're way too clean, and the characters make almost ridiculous, 1950's emotional faces.

Fuck I hate MTV blocking videos in the UK...BASTARDS!
Anyway...erm I'm not sure. In one of the original leaked scripts/plots/rumours one of the crew gets his leg ripped off by a creature in/around the ample room. In one of the leaked trailers we see something jumping from one of the crew to another. So I'm guessing Pierce and/or Holloway gets totalled by some sort of creature. I'd imagine he'll get killed pretty early when the crew first enter the ample room.

So maybe hes the only one with glasses ...and that carry us to say that hes him in the red lasers scene ( and hes near the mohawk guy ...that spell bad ending )
OF course you dont hire him if the scene is not pretty important ( like it was in the hurt locker ) BUT anyway im very disappointed because hes a so great actor ..... will i end to like more a popcorn movie like MS:One than Prometheus ? we will see ..
ReplyTheuspromPrometheus ForumGuy Pearce only in Prometheus "for a minute"Jan 18, 2012
I am not sure that is him in the picture.
I think he will play the benefactor of the mission and in heavy prosthetics to look old, maybe only at the start of the movie before the mission sets out.
I always took that fella in pain to be Benedict Wong.
