hmmm, intresting. the cocoon scene is a bit controversial. it does slow the movie down alot and brings up alot of questions, but the model of bret is awesome

I meant the Burke Cocoon scene. I think the Alien cocoon scene was interesting but I'm ok with that being left out. Though I do remember about 6 years ago when they released a copy of Alien that was played at theaters and it had a cleaned up and plot integrated version of that scene. It worked well but still kind of stumbles the story.

It probably isn't available on DVD. I've seen that before with other movies. Scenes you couldn't even find in the deleted scenes make it into a special cable cut of the film...weird, I know, but I've seen it before. examples: Dune, a number of the Harry Potter films

I do believe that Ridley Scott got Damon Lindeloff for a reason. I do hope it is not because of time travel, but it is pushing in that direction, through seeing damon do it in lost series and put it in Star Trek. It would be great if the Jockey wouldn´t be a transformed human from the Future, that would ruin alot and i would hate the Movie. But i think Ridley has other things planed.

i notice just the opposite actually. people who keep spewing nonsense clearly divorced from the most basic of common sense and common intelligence. this thread is a prime example. the holier than thou attitude comes naturally as a result.

we could possibly see the trailer during the Super Bowl broadcast, but i'd guess there is a better chance of either this great trailer, or a new version airing during the Academy Awards telecast on February 26th. given the date is a bit closer to the end of that month, and closer to June i mean, i dunno, at least i can hope right! to see either the current film trailer, or a brand new cut in ABC HD would definitely be something i'd enjoy. and i will keep my fingers croxxed that we will all be treated to a PROMETHEUS trailer at either the Super Bowl, the Oscar's - - - or both!

the guy with the thing in his mouth is a human. obviously a concept for the face hugger. how the hell do you lump that with space jockey? just cause he has a bald head? you're an idiot. also, the space jockey, the real one on the left has an elongated head and non human facial features/mouth.

it does look a bit like Guy is the Screaming guy in the Trailer. It would be strange if Guy would have a small part in the Movie, i thought since Memento and Coffee and Cigarettes he has earned to have a proper Role

i don't know how large or important his role will be, but i hope it's a brief one, and his character dies a horrible and painful death i HATE Guy Pierce.

Guy is not all that popular. He was sailing a decent ship for a bit but bad movies led to what seems a lesser demand for him. His role in The Road was very small, albeit pivotal. Hate is a very strong word.

i think Guy Pearce is by far the best actor of the bunch with Fassbender ...hes quite a rising star in holliwood and in this year he will do alot of movies . He had a big chance in his careeer after LA Confidential and PRiscilla but he decided to move to LA and remained in Australian near his Wife , his sister with big problems and his beloved cats . He did not run into very successful movies ,even if his acting was always excellent , like in Ravenous , Montecristo , Houdini , The Time Machine , first snow ...and in the cult movies Memento and The Proposition But luck changed in this last years and he did become a rising star with acclaiment interpretations ( even if sometimes brief ) in Animal Kindom , the king Speach , the hurt locker , mildred pearce , the traitor , dont be afrai of dark ... hes finally getting the recognition he deserve and this year he will be in almost 4 mainstream movies like Prometheus , The wettest country , jack irish and MS:One this is the only image in which we think we are sure to see him [img]http://img851.imageshack.us/img851/1290/pearce2.jpg[/img]

I read somewhere that Guy Pearce has been filming Prometheus mainly in 'heavy prosthetics', so I guess he mutates at some stage. If some of the leaks are true looks like nearly all of them do, but possibly jusy the Males?? I wander if that is just a coincidence??

The 'star room' may not be in the actual ship, more than likely on Earth, that's where they found the location of the 'Engineers' planet. The 'Egg Chamber' has always been a bit of puzzle for me, is it part of the derelict or a structure beneath the planetoids surface, that the ship docked onto? The chamber is so vast, fading into the distance, and out of any sort of proportion to the vessel. I always felt the Alien ship was a transport that brought these eggs to the planetoid for "safe" storage, away from the 'SJ' homeworld, something went "slightly" wrong, the SJ become inpregnated, set up the warning beacon then slipped his mortal-coil. Like you, I hope we all get the chance to see a bit more inside the craft but Ridley has a habit of not letting you see too much, better to think you saw something than spell it out.

looking at the ship in the blue ray alien dvd, then watching the trailer for promo. and then back to the dvd...its the same spacecraft, in the trailers, its in the air, explodes, then crashes to the planet (i guess) at the end, . it must right itself to were it lands on the planet, then were we see it in alien, maybe (like a airplane) there was enough power to move the craft to get it near a ledge to drop off and try and fly again not sure...in either case, the sj alien that burst from the chest, has to be a queen, as who layed the eggs?. and in aliens when they find the ship and its eggs its to late the queen and her workers already took over the outpost, , there must have been more of the crew of the derelict that got impregnanted, which allowed for more aliens.......maybe ?..........

Watching the trailer, at the beginning, the whispering voices saying we were so wrong... It very much sounds like the "voice" Lambert plays in the original Alien extras. I wonder ifthat is what Ripley was deciphering when she told Ash that the message sounded like a warning? I have been a fan since I saw Alien at age 12 and have always wanted to explore more inside the derelict craft. This trailer has me very fascinated, except for the fact that the sculpture found on the wall looks too human. Sj had a more Alien appearance so I expected to see a less human appearance on that sculpture in the chamber. Sj and the Aliens have some sort of symbiotic relationship.... the containers are arranged much like the Alien queen lays her eggs. I can't wait to see this movie to learn more!

@Chumbrother, Wow, a queen must have laid those eggs, and a queen must have burst out of the Space Jockey, which means..the Space Jockey could be a female. And we have 2 females running for their lives in the trailer. Could it be....No way!

There's no indication that a queen has to be birthed from a female. Besides, we know that Ridley is ignoring the other films, including Cameron's, which includes the addition of the queen to the life cycle. Remember that, in the first film, the alien could reproduce on its own.. it would take and convert its victims into more eggs. Especially considering the idea that the alien is purposefully bred or genetically engineered.. it would make more sense to limit their reproductive ability rather than have the possibility of a queen and uncontrolled population growth on any planet that they were dropped on. By forcing the aliens to use double the amount of hosts (one to create the egg, another for the facehugger to latch onto), you're cutting the possible population in half, making them much easier to clean up afterwards. I've always thought it was more likely that one of them escaped somehow, that somewhere in that vast storage room is an egg that's already hatched (O'Bannon's original script included this). It infected the pilot, killed him, lived out its life alone, and probably starved to death. I don't think we're looking at that much of a link between the films here. I don't think the jockey in the original film has anything to do with what we're going to see in [i]Prometheus[/i].

The SJ born Alien was not a Queen, a Queen did not lay all the eggs inside the Derelict, the eggs were cargo.

@jbsmit3 Im pretty sure it has been mentioned on here before that the "we were so wrong" line we hear from the trailers could possibly be the message the hear in Alien. I just watched Alien again yesterday and I too watched the deleted scenes. I too think it sounds eerily similar to what we hear in the trailers and am willing to bet that is what the Nostromo is listening to. @Yhm sympathy Interesting thought that the star room could be found on earth. As far as the part of something going "slightly wrong" for the SJ that caused the demise of the ship has me still up in the air. I mean judging by the pilot room alone you do not see the presence of a dead face hugger anywhere on the ground. Plus there is no melting on the face of the bio-mask to get to the SJ's mouth. So could it be the SJ was purposely impregnated and sent on its mission to go somewhere, whether LV426 was suppose to be the final destination or not, to spread its wrath and the SJ was nothing more than a "fuse" to set off something greater? Or it could be the that something went wrong with the SJ plans while on route to where ever, but the SJ wasnt facehugged in the pilot chamber there is absolutely no evidence to support that.

I think if the female characters have any special importance to the plot other than their charcters then it will be due to birth of an engineer not a xeno or facehugger. After all if the tall blue guy is an Engineer / Spacejockey then he is humanoid. They may have created humans in their own form, just like the ancient astronaunt theory of aliens breeding with ancient female woman...............

I agree with snorkelbottom. The eggs were cargo. The ship is meant to be massive. This is why there is so much appeal to find out what the whole ship was used for. I know there is more to it than just a pilot room and an egg cargo bay. The thing is just so enormous. Im so anxious to find out.

I just joined the discussions today. I did not realize someone else commented on the eerily familiar sound at the beginning of the Prometeus trailer as that of the "voice" we hear when Lambert plays the alien transmission (Alien deleted scene). Glad to know so many of us think alike! Alien has ben my obsession for 32 years! I wrote to Starlog magazine after Aliens was released and asked if anyone had thre guts to do a prequel to Alien because I need to know who was SJ, what was his race, how did he get infected.... is that why he crashed? Why is his massive cargo hold filled with eggs? Someone commented that the eggs were in a cave beneath the ship but if you pay attentionto where Dallas, Lambert, and Kane entered the derelict you will see that they climbed to the dome atop the ship where SJ's corpse was found. The hole that Kane descends is definitely inside that ship.

I also find the corridor that Dallas, Kane, and Lambert travel is so oddly shaped. I imagined that it had something to do with the shape of its designers. We humans create corridors to walk through based upon our height and width (pretty straight and narrow). I imagined the SJ race to be of an oddly snake like form. Twisted and deformed (by human standards). They were, in my opinion, from a part of space where biomechanical beings exist. Muchlike the Alien, the SJ race seem to be both biological and mechanically connected. Will have to see the movie to know where Ridley's mind was going.....

Another thought I had to tie Alien to Aliens is that, as parasites, the first "host" would be infected with a warrior. It is born, adapts to its surroundings, and prepares to create the new hive if, like on Nostromo, it is without Queen and "family". The first victim is taken and cultured for production of Queens egg. Next victim will be host body for gestation of hive Queen. Warrior and Queen mate so she may lay eggs. Next host is for gestationof another warrior. Warriors attavch to queen like sappendages to "hide" and protect her.

Bulky brown (silver?) = Fire resistant. For the people carrying flamethrowers. Blue regulars = General purpose. Blue regulars with "Hi I'm tags" = So the aliens know who they are eating. Blue regulars with red piping = Emergency suits? I see Vickers and Noomi wearing them at the end. And also the crazy guy that jumps off the vehicle.

LOL, I like the idea of the Aliens having a choice of their cuisine, Holloway for starters, David 4.0 for main, Vickers for desert mmmmmmmmmmmmm

can be but really there is not interview to Dickie ..just a tabloid journalist that have assembled some things he found on the net in 10 minutes ..not caring if fake or true ...there are no word from dikie in " " ..just a phrase maybe taken in another interview ... im sure he did type " prometheus plot" on google and he did found the fake script and got it for good ..i trust more the AICN journalist that have said that the real plot is by far different from any "leaked" one . i agree on the second part ..is quite shallow as philosphy ( who created the creators then ? ) but VERY entertaining for a sci fi movie

Lets me honest, the ideas people are throwing about regards the plot of Prometheus don't really match what Ridley said "...Its about everything..." and "...Its Epic..." What ideas have we had so far... 1. Space Mutants 2. Creating Life 3. Terraforming 4. The Birth Of The Xeno 5. Human/Alien Hybrids Only one of these sounds epic (number 2), I think we need to up our game, a lot. I don't think we are anywhere near the plot of Prometheus. We're too busy analysing this frame or that frame, and coming up with a story that doesn't match what Ridley is promising. We need to think bigger, a lot BIGGER.
