Ok,
I am so f'ing mad at the editor here and the fact that half the time when you correct a post it erases it instead that I NOT RETYPING EVERYTHING I JUST FINISHED WRITING AND COULDN'T IF I TRIED BUT THE BOTTOM LINE IS THAT THE AMPULES WERE DESTROYED IN THE CRASH BUT THEIR PRE-PROGRAMMED XENOMORPHS AND AT LEAST 1 QUEEN SURVIVED.
ReplyGigeresquePrometheus ForumNutDec 26, 2011
Frantz, VERY possible. I think there are going to be a lot of different alien forms in this movie. That's a lot of ampules. If they have DNA in them it's a possibility that they aren't just one type.

I had similar thoughts. Truly the painting gives a lot of information on this subject.
For me it looks like the "Space Jockeys" have found new species in their search for life in space. Perhaps they have studied this primordial life form and used it to perfect any creature or themselves. This new way of breeding opened up many possibilities for a new area of exploration in epigenetics. Maybe every facehugger carries cell info (or the consciousness) of its ancestor as a messenger for the new born perfected lifeform. But it could also be the other way around...
The film makers used H.R. Giger's drawings to give birth to the creature in the big screen. The following drawings of his prove this:

It is also worth mentioning that H.R Giger has a "mystical" approach in drawing. His main drawings have an almost "sexist" or "sexually twisted" (excuse me for the word use) but only for the naked eye.

We have to deal with Giger's drawings as to be of another world or better say of another dimension. He uses a lot of sexuality in all of his drawings. Sexuality in Mysticism related to the serpent energy (Kundalini) rising from the root of the spine (root chakra=sex=expression) moving all the way up to the head (crown chakra=divine). It is linked to expression and all the artistic part of life, from the birth of desire to the conception of an idea until its full expression (divine nature).

I think I'm going a bit crazy here, but hey, I had to share this with you :)

H.R. Is a genius of art IMHO!
ReplySpartacusPrometheus ForumIf Not For This Painting, None Of Us Are Here Now !Dec 26, 2011
yea, those 3 last paintings really do show how "out there" some of his art was and why it is so intimidating to some people. Personally it fascinates me and I find it to be GENIUS like just in it's very conception.
ReplyNachoFleischmanPrometheus ForumIf Not For This Painting, None Of Us Are Here Now !Dec 26, 2011
I agree with you all: H.R.Giger is a real genius. And after seeing those pictures I am not surprised of one comment on Quadrilogy DVD's. I think is Dan O'Bannon who told that, in a meeting with Giger: he asked him where he finds his ideas for his paintings and sculptures, and Giger answered him that all those images where in his nightmares, who must be horrible. Then O'Bannon told him that all those images only exists in his mind, and Giger replied to this: "that's what scares to me..."

Yeah...I realized that a few years ago. It really does look like Nut.
ReplySergey ZaslavetsPrometheus ForumThe Source of an Alien DerelictDec 26, 2011
Yep, Gigeresque, at first i looked at the Nut discussion and then i saw that image that differs a little from the original....when i saw it i noticed those similiarities i discribed here...i saw the original post earlier but didn`t notice that before....i hurried to create this theme so i copied that image to do things faster...Don`t you mind?^^
ReplySergey ZaslavetsPrometheus ForumThe Source of an Alien DerelictDec 26, 2011
I also noticed that the alien God above and the alien life cycle pyramid are a little bound...In my opinion the cycle on the image can show the ritual, where space jokeys invented the way to give the birth to their imagined "God" by a sacrifice, so that the creature will have their DNA. But this idea works only in the way if that is rly their imagined God...
Reply BiomechanicPrometheus ForumThe Source of an Alien DerelictDec 26, 2011
The idea that the derelict is depicted as Nut has very interesting implications. Nut being a sky Goddess would be a perfect choice to represent a space ship and the eggs being found within her certainly fits with the movie alien. This however doesn't explain how the eggs were created unless you also look at this depiction of Nut being both a ship and a woman. Very clever of Giger if all of this is indeed intentional.
ReplySpartacusPrometheus ForumThe Source of an Alien DerelictDec 26, 2011
every shape every form every texture Giger used was meant to have a story behind it or just does in it's scientific nature, the guy isn't just some painter as I am sure you all know, but rather, he's a surrealist Genius !!!

Can anyone give my factual opinions... I believe we are the shells for the xenomorph species... It only makes sense.
ReplyOan MkollPrometheus ForumPrometheus Temple UncoveredDec 26, 2011
Sorry to burst the enthusiasm guys but...... the "temple" painting, the large outside structure with the gun looking thing, was actually a piece of concept art for an unmade version of Dune that Giger was working on with O'Bannon before je wrote the original Alien script, i believe it was supposed to be Baron Harkonnen. I that film had been made it would have been great as i believe that as well as Giger that Dali was going to be involved as well.
ReplyMekja-TekPrometheus ForumPrometheus Temple UncoveredDec 26, 2011
I think you're right. The design for House Harkonnen, the floating fat man.
Replyb5historymanPrometheus ForumPrometheus Temple UncoveredDec 26, 2011
The illustrations at the top I believe were Harkonnen temple designs for Jodorowski's aborted Dune project. either way it's good to see Giger's designs back on screen larger than life (so to speak)
ReplyGavinPrometheus ForumPrometheus Temple UncoveredDec 26, 2011
Yep, unused, now they've been brought back to the fray.
ReplyGavinPrometheus ForumPrometheus Temple UncoveredDec 26, 2011
Ah, Giger's version of the pyramid from the original concepts of Alien...

I've always imagined that this is what a xeno hive would look like, in the wild (so to speak).
And whether the artwork Giger came up with for Dune was unused as intended or used in a little known Japanese TV commercial, it doesn't detract from the point that it can clearly be seen when the Prometheus garage doors open.
IMO, it looks as though Ridley has used a great body of Giger's work for the Space Jockey environment, structures and lore. Which makes sense when it was Giger who designed and sculpted the Space Jockey in the first place in Alien. Now that he is not as young as he once was it seems Ridley has brought in assistance to realise Gigers designs.
ReplyGavinPrometheus ForumPrometheus Temple UncoveredDec 26, 2011
LOL, that TV commercial surely was a joke!

i had the same feelings ..immediately thought about him as a good guy hem bot ...but ...
Replydb73Prometheus ForumDavid the Android: good or bad?Dec 26, 2011
I've always seen the character of David of the Prometheus equivalent of Ash in the original Alien. Not sure why. Probably because the androids In the series have usually turned out to be company drones. But wasn't there a rumour of 2 androids in Prometheus? We usually only have 1 so I wonder if saving 2 is significant to the plot? David certainly appears to be a hugely important character in the film from what we have seen so far.
Reply BiomechanicPrometheus ForumDavid the Android: good or bad?Dec 26, 2011
Maybe the humans turn on innocent androids and do unspeakable things to them setting up Ash's distaste for humanity.
ReplyeggchamberPrometheus ForumDavid the Android: good or bad?Dec 26, 2011
Biomechanic: "Maybe the humans turn on innocent androids and do unspeakable things to them setting up Ash's distaste for humanity."
Well that would imply that David's memories are accessible by Ash and/or other androids or a central computer, at a later date.
ReplyAlienAtedPrometheus ForumDavid the Android: good or bad?Dec 26, 2011
The actor has an elegant figure. Would the casting crew choose this face to trick us? Could be another "malfunctioning Ash" android or a "trustworthy Bishop".
The story so far: Ash="bad", Bishop="good", Cole="good"... Mathematically is 1 out of 3 to be bad.
In my humble opinion, we will never know until we watch the movie and as has said: I like implications. : )
ReplyAlienAtedPrometheus ForumDavid the Android: good or bad?Dec 26, 2011
Let me add to the above: its not an "Alien" movie so I shouldn't use the "good" & "bad" analogy, neither refer to the the Alien franchise.
PS: CAN'T WAIT TO WATCH IT!!!
ReplywalterhillerPrometheus ForumDavid the Android: good or bad?Dec 26, 2011
if ash was crazy like that, think of the flaws of its predecessor.
ReplyFrantzPrometheus ForumDavid the Android: good or bad?Dec 26, 2011
what i fear is that putting there an android and the "company suit" will be very hard to avoid cliches ....

ReplySpartacusPrometheus ForumNo more at gunpoint ..and the MohawkDec 26, 2011
There was a movie that took place on a boat, in early 2001 I think, was it not called "Ghost Ship"? or something like that that had a great cast, and I remember it shared some of the qualities of the original ALIEN film , but the one that was most interesting if memory serves was that there was a moment when we realize that the crew has split into two groups, the "good guys" crew, and the "bad guys" crew...so you had two groups of people but but with very different agendas going on the same vessel at the same time, while both crews were facing a much more serious impending problem, whatever it was that was happening on the ship to them all. To the point of course that the 2 groups begin to blame and turn on each other. It seems like a classic writing/plot development technique that was invented by Ridley Scott to me. And I bet that this whats going on somewhere in the film, crew members with very conflicting agendas turning on each other. For some reason I keep thinking of the "Professor" character on Land of the Lost who's lying "ka-nieving" and own agenda got them all stranded {The Robinson family} in space to begin with.
ReplySpartacusPrometheus ForumNo more at gunpoint ..and the MohawkDec 26, 2011
not sure but could be, but the idea was the same, crew members trying to kill each other.
ReplyNeurionPrometheus ForumNo more at gunpoint ..and the MohawkDec 26, 2011
Hey guys,
You know…after looking at this picture for a few seconds, I think the action may different than the way it looks at first glance.
The female character “allegedly” holding the weapon/pistol is in the background, while her would-be “mutant” prisoner is in the foreground. However, the illusion is that her lower arm, hand, gun…are closer to the camera than the man’s left arm.
After a closer look, I think that the dark part of the image that appears to be a gun in the woman’s hand, is actually just the man’s own gloved hand…raised in front of his body similar to his right hand (in an almost C-3PO the droid pose).
Whatta ya think folks?

i think neurion IS very right ...anyway there is also some sort of wire falling down and the three seems a bit "disinterested " or "sick" ... i mean while the two in front fight and appear to be very decise the three in the background look very passive

I agree. And what's on his head is the standard head gear they're all wearing inside their space helmets.

As for the mohawk guy I think this maybe just a trick of the light, catching his "hood".
