joylitt LOL- an aside. After you and Starlogger talked me into Netflix I had to select 3 shows before moving forward. Black Mirrors was one and I have not had time to check it out but love its premise!
I am all for series from a network that can afford a quality show (Netflix, HBO, Showtime). It is not just waiting for years to get a new film in a franchise but it is the damn 2 hours not being enough to develop characters, narrative, answer questions, etc., i.e. tell an intriguing story in an adequate way. Television is at its high these days and has shown impressive results with the right budget. And think what a show as ambitious as Westworld would be as a 2-hour movie, even with the same 100 million budget. Take A:C's same 100 mil and make 10 hour-long episodes. Dream come true really!
A-list actors and directors have no problem doing series, audiences obsess over them. Ridley Scott is no stranger to TV productions, maybe not as a director, but, for one, he produced Man In The High Castle (not my favorite, but still...), so why not? Fox however may not be into it...
I should add that writers shouldn't matter for this thread. It is about how you would like to see it play out after Awakening.
It could be interesting. I would vote for the people behind "Black Mirror" to write and produce.
This was not really a Blondie album but was the first Giger work I saw without knowing who Giger was.

dk Well "they" should be the team that convinced Fox that it was a good idea to go forward with this "Frankenstein experiment" that Covenant is. Now I want to point directly at Mr. John Logan (he wrote the Phobos short apparently, and probably this one too), a writer who has no business messing with Alien. I would suggest Mr. Logan to go read some good sci-fi books before attempting to write any sci-fi story. This is the same guy who already wrote 10 pages for Alien Awakening. Please go back to Bond or for a new season of Penny Dreadful, no more Alien please.
I am unsure of who "they" are for making AC join up with Alien. Maybe Fox, but RS has been vague on that point.
Good point about having nothing to do with the Alien universe- I can get behind that since I want to see it come full circle before I am too old to care.
After tying it up, it seems they could do whatever they want imo. I personally would like to see it become an episodic series on a streaming channel instead of waiting years to see what happens next.
JOYLITT - I was not attempting to cause you displeasure, my friend. I honestly desired your opinion on the matter. I have not seen it. However, given your description of the scene, I will likely avoid it. I, too, am not a fan of intense gore.
It also makes a sequel completely unnecessary.
dk Well, let me put it this way... if they wanted Alien Covenant to be really the last Alien movie in a very loooooooooooong time, they should have left it in the theatrical version. This was too much exposition, too much quirkiness, and in general too much nonsense that has anything to do with the Alien universe.
I don't think David had cause for concern with sterile or even aseptic technique in those conditions.
joylitt Interesting. I enjoyed it and liked the graphic nature juxtaposed with David's matter of fact tone of his account. Would it have been better to have been a part of the theatrical version?
Something Real Sorry I just hated it... autopsies being conducted with bare hands, and that clavichord soundtrack... please give me a break.
JOYLITT - Was it extremely graphic? I have been contemplating watching it. However, I am quite easily bothered by extreme violence and gore. :)
This short was just horrendous. I wish I could unsee it. Just being honest.
I would have liked to see some sort of featurette with David capturing and experimenting on indigent life forms. Not to spoil, but he did mention it.
I didn't know about him lol I've seen Species and probably his art somewhere but I never really knew him until Alien.
Totally agree that, like Prometheus, A:C is going to only get better with age. It almost REQUIRES multiple viewings. It is simply too smart for the "common man" to absorb all at once, quite frankly.
@Walter bingo I totally agree with you there. Haven't seen "Advent" yet but I cannot believe that RS will allow a "Queen". Of course, Fox is probably the ones in control at this point, and not RS anymore...so anything could happen.
Yep, I saw his work on album art as a kid and never made the connection until way later. I think my first was seeing an album cover from a Blondie album.
Tennessee ftw
Shh...waiting patiently til Aug 15 for my 4K! Don't spoil it!
This is OT but relevant to a previous post regarding sexual imagery of both the Alien series and Silent Hill. For those whom may not understand about Silent Hill, here is a very basic example of the imagery:

Back to the OT.
DK - Thank you ever so much for your reasonable and even-handed observation. I am proud to have you as a moderator on SCIFIED. :)
Jonesy is correct on both counts for Advent and Silent Hill. Both deliberately have sexual imagery. It should be remembered that the series is influenced by HR Giger. As far as Silent Hill goes, one doesn't have to research very far to understand what Jonesy means. It is fine to have a difference of opinion but suggesting a psychiatric diagnosis and suggesting one has a criminal mind are not ok.
Blackwinter-witch excellent, can't wait to read the finished product.
You are writing more than just fanfic, you are writing for the future of the franchise IMO! I think we can all agree that your dedication for perfection and pursuit of technical continuity is on another level.
FOX if you are watching..... look here
RIDINVAIl - You have no right to make such an assertion against an indvidual with whom you have no actual contact. Your accusation is unofounded and needlessly aggressive.
Done. :D
Always happy to add to the list of works found here. :)
Also, just to update:
ALIEN: Manticore is in the final stretch of laying down content, slow and steady as I got a reminder about continuity the other day watching ST: Into Darkness where if you pay attention, they really screwed up continuity in regards to beaming and shields....apparently the Enterprise has a Carol Marcus shaped gap in it's shields. :D
So, yeah, I might be slow and careful, and that's because I don't wanna hand flaws like that example above out in my works. I might be writing Fan-Fic, but I want to make sure I've done my Human best in it. :)
Just watched this too, crazy that this type of stuff wasn't even included in the movie. He basically says that he is going to use Daniels to create a Queen (!) though, which I figured they wouldn't go there, but this pretty much confirms it. It is David taking to the company, and its showing his facehugger embryos, and then Daniels, as he says something like "one thing left, to create my queen" so.. there it is i guess.
David reminds me so much of H.R.Giger and his process. The drawings exemplify that. Jonesy, I felt the weird sexiness too lol
My apologies, guess I was into too much Silent Hill stuffs lately.

Blackwinter-witch would you like to add this fantastic short story to our list :)
Diesektor great work! Love it. I'll have it added to our fanfic thread so everyone can see it :)
Very interesting. I like it!
Splendid work.
"Perhaps superficial injuries to skin are left to not heal so quickly as to improve the human illusion, whilst grievous injuries like the one he suffered from David heal more rapidly. Having a synthetic with a gaping hole in his neck spurting white fluid would ruin that illusion pretty quick. Injuries to major components that threat his viability may also have rapid healing abilities."
Good point IRaptus. Which would explain why his hand hadn't healed quickly. I can't remember but did Walter have the scar on his face during his battle with David?
I rewatched it in HD today, the visuals are awesome. Very underrated movie.
Maggie could have made better decision. She should let Karine out and call for help.
Lots of great stuff in the Advent message.
Remove the scenes from the movie from it, and edit more in the style of the movie, and this would have made an awesome epilogue placed right at the end of the movie before the credits roll.
That is where it will be viewed every time I watch the movie from now on.
I don't think anyone really knew about Walter's full capabilities or whether or not he had a healing factor. Which is why Daniels didn't question him.
