"Naa.Naaaa nigga naaaaaaa" :D

Remember when another directors took the place and we got Garbages like    Aliens, Alien 3, Alien:Resurrection.

It will be best if its Ridley director and writer.I loved Covenant, Prometheus and Alien.

if they were in their suits I wouldn't see removing it as an issue as he is removing their skin anyway so david would just cut the suit off. tho there r no clues as to what type of material is used in making the suits. the engineers on planet 4 may not have been in suits, they may have just been ordinary inhabitants of the planet taught how to perform the basic docking sequence. theres many possibilities though

hox, it doesn't matter how it makes him seem, he is entitled to his opinion and the beauty of this site is he can air his thoughts. just because it doesn't fall into ur own line of thought doesn't mean he isn't entitled to his view or share it. on the subject tho, u r starting to come across as another single minded insufferable know it all that used to comment and drag others down when their views didn't agree with theirs, ur not he reincarnated are you?

as far as the pace of the movie, I don't think its a lot to ask from the paying public for a little authenticity

no need to apologise dude :) genuinely, I think I know how that mistake came around, nick likes to joke, much like everyone else, that I sound like Colin salmon (max from avp) and as he was recently working on the alien audiobooks, its likely it was joked around, due to the likeness.

again, no need to apologise! just wanted to clarify and get that out there lol.

thank you so much for even watching my stuff! means a lot to me.

MrHreviews Glad to hear from you directly. I must have misunderstood the information that was shared in one of  the hybrid network podcasts. Have my apologies for the mix up. I edited the info. Keep up the good job! Your videos rock :-) BTW If you read this try to cover Alex Garland's new project "Annihilation"; I read the books it is based on and it is outstanding sci-fi.

hello,

quite the flattering introduction!
just to clarify a few things though, as I wouldn't want anyone to be misled or have the wrong image of me or how I create my content.

1. I have not, nor have I ever said I was hired to be featured on an alien audiobook, I wish I was, unfortunately no one in that industry knows me, nor wants my voice
2. with regards to my "claim" the marketing budget equalled the production budget for alien covenant, this was a generalisation of what most marketing campaigns can be chalked up to, I don't know facts and figures and I chose my wording carefully to reflect that, as making false claims isn't the best thing to do!

a rule of thumb for calculating the marketing budget of a movie is 50% of the production budget, its quite a widely accepted rule of thumb, but alien covenant had a much larger marketing push than most movies out today, it was quite literally everywhere, to the extend they even plastered it on trams, underground and tubes etc. so it was larger than 50%
3. where I got the news of this was neither your website, or AVP galaxy, when a news story breaks and I get it from a certain place I always mention that, or link it. as for theories, theories are far and wide and not exclusive to either here or avp galaxy, please don't claim i just read it then made a video on it, thats quite egotistical, other people can have ideas, sometimes they match up :) or share similarities :)
as for the compliments, thank you so much, this was quite a surprise to have this sent to me, the channel has become something I couldn't even imagine.

The reason is partly explained in the novelisation. When Rosie comments on the Engineers being giants, Oram says he doesn't believe in giants. She pulls the Star of David to her lips and says "I do". This would be an allusion to David's biblical defeat of Goliath.

Speaking for myself, I've been very busy of late, literally wearing off the letters on my keyboard with all the writing I've been doing.

Seriously, I've worn small holes in some of the keys.

That said, I'll refer you to my ALIEN: Manticore thread, there's some there for you to devour :)

Curt, you do seem to have a habit of saying things are dumb or stupid when they are not. You do realise how that makes you sound, don't you?

I have seen the movie several times. It's not filmed in real-time. David can be stupendously fast, and he had it all worked our beforehand. It's really very very simple to understand. I'm surprised you're having comprehension issues.

Reply
ali81Alien: Covenant Forumunused alien 3 concepts that could be used in the next alien film.

firstly, wards script is my favourite and was finchers aswell. would be great to see something like that done in the prequels even for just a short flashback to when the engineers first ventured out into space.

the ending to AC doesn't make a great deal of sense to me. surely david would want peace and no interference while he conducts his experiments in creating his perfect organism so why contact the company at all? why tell them all crew dead and where he was going as surely there would be a chance the company would send someone to investigate? which leads me to the Prometheus mission. id surely expect to revisit lv223 as that mission was a trillion dollar investment and the owner of the company was onboard so surely someone will be sent to find out what happened. but I don't see us going back there just yet, I think it will be a new planet but I expect awakening to end with david starting his journey to return to lv223 perhaps realising he needs more of the mutagen or being chased there by the engineers.

my point is that ridley got the scripts he was happy with. he has to shoulder a larger portion of the bad critics due to to the fact he had such influence on the script and he put that script on film. I love RS and pretty much all his movies with the exception of AC. being a sci fi fan does certainly help as having a passion for the genre gives u a leg up on what a fan wants to see. but star beast was poor and that cant be denied regardless of how highly regarded O'Bannon is in the sci fi world for his contributions. imo RS is a good enough director to know that AC needed longer or split into 2 films. hes been in the game long enough and for years when asked about the mythology behind alien he has stated he had his vision for who the big guy in the pilots chair was and what the purpose of the eggs was. hes stated he only came back to address the questions none of the other directors addressed and yet hes still to address these very factors. his plan may have always to hold the engineers back for a later film but its such a cut throat industry that if the return isnt there then the budget for the next instalment gets reduced. to me hes running out of time to give us something that does the engineers/ xeno or the original movie justice. I really hope awakening shuts the doubters up, myself included. I really like Prometheus and was so caught up in the hype and anticipation for AC. maybe that's my own fault but I expected sooooooo much more from AC and imo, it sucks. im not alone in this feeling as shown buy the returns on the film. I don't know the ins and outs of the discussions between fox and ridley as to how in control he actually is in regards to the way these prequels will unfold but the majority of bad critics have to be aimed at the director regardless of the writer. they don't get a free pass but ridley knows the score

perhaps the engineers/ elders and other races have had their wars and the engineers were the victors. they may very well have access to ship and individual weaponry but don't require to use these weapons as the threat of their 'nuclear deterant' is enough to keep the other races in line?

ali81 Meddling from the director and several re-writes generally happen because the original script was not that good. The best Ridley Scott movies only have 2 writers at most: Blade Runner, Thelma & Louise, The Martian, etc. And O'Bannon was an avid sci-fi fan, which gives him an edge over the likes of John Logan and company.

yes JR keep an open mind about the movie. im glad all the reviews will not put u off so I hope u enjoy AC, I really do. as vivisected says it will be interesting to get someones take on it AFTER reading the novel first. I like seeing the movies first as I like to put a face to the character when I read the book but we are all our own person so hope u enjoy the film as much as I bet ur enjoying the novel

a good script is most def a good starting point but even bad scripts can be made into classics by the director. star beast was poor. all that's left of O'Bannon and shussetts' script is the synopsis. it was ripped to pieces and put back together again. the monster is Gigers. the feel for the movie is Ridleys. the script is Hill and Gilers. don't get me wrong, im grateful and appreciate the contribution they had, they came up with the idea for the egg, facehugger and the big chap and how to get it on the ship (yes key ingredients) but their script is BAD man. ur putting too much onto the writers here which is kinda what their paid to do so hard to defend them. but remember, RS had full access and control over script changes as told by both spaights and lindelof. they would write, leave the script for him to read, come back and ridley would have scored through what he didn't want, make side notes and requests for what HE wanted and they would go back and change. both Prometheus and AC scripts were approved by ridley himself. I am a huge RS fan, I love his work and his eye. alien and blade runner will forever stand the test of time and will go down as 2 of the all time great movies, not just in the sci fi genre. he has to finish what he started I believe but I do wonder what james wan or Guillermo del torro would do with such potential.

@joylitt

Actually, I am not sure what the red stuff was, I commissioned the cake from a bakery. I think it was red food coloring. Maybe red food coloring with corn syrup? It was very messy and actually very blood-like. After snapping a few pictures of the cake, I yanked the baby xeno up out of it by hand and when I looked down at my bloody looking hands I felt like Patrick Bateman or something.

But one thing I do know is the entire cake was 100% vegan! Despite all appearances, it's a very non-violent cake!

VivisectedEngineer Thank you. I am aware of the novel being more detailed (knowing what the deleted scenes are, at least) and even offering some of its own explanations to the questions left unanswered in the film. I do not mind spoilers and am eager to see the film's execution of the narrative. And I already feel upset about the need-to-keep-it-at-2-hours BS, as I want to see at least 3 hours of this story, just like I strongly felt about Prometheus.

Raven, Tarantino? I have loads of respect for the man, and I am sure he might find a very creative angle. The humor he bakes into his work though may turn it into another Resurrection. And he already killed Fassbender in the Basterds. But he's definitely a creative force any franchise might benefit from.

I've seen it five times I love it SO MUCH. I also love the novel. I will be interested in hearing the perspective of someone who read the novel before seeing the film.

Be warned, the novel does have a lot more detail than the movie (as is normally the case).

I'm not familiar with "Alice in the Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers video for Don't Come Around Here No More."

I wanted to have the cake shaped like a T-shirt, so it would be more like it was coming out of someone's chest, but the baker said the cake would have to be bigger, and therefore more expensive... :-/

So, we just have to use our imaginations and pretend that it's coming out of a chest.

Thanks! Yes, I am lucky to have such a cool family. The whole evening there was a running joke that my sister's computer scientist fiance was the synthetic of our crew.

At one point we started theorizing "It seems like all Androids admire the xenomorph. [Sister's fiance], how do you feel about it?" and he deadpanned "Well, since I've heard Androids are being decapitated around here, I'll keep my opinions on the xenomorph to myself." haha!
