 Blackwinter-witch that's a powerful first impression. A beginning of a beautiful relationship.

I like climbing, but never thought bringing champagne. Thanks for the tip.

Without any connection to Introduction, have you read A Song for Lya, a short story by George R.R. Martin?

'INTRODUCTION' is just a fun little piece that gives a sense of the depth of relationship between Sinjihnn and Selinaehra.

They say you only have one chance to make a first impression...

...and how a relationship starts sets tone for it thereafter.

@DK

Indeed Sexually Frustrated ... a CHIP of the OLD BLOCK would you not say ;) (in David that is).

I think Basically it comes down to Aesthetically to make them APPEAR to NOT be Human, so its always that PLOT DEVICE to know your NOT seeing a Human but a Android.

If Bishop had RED BLOOD then Ripley would maybe have NOT Discovered for some Time that he was a Fricken Robot ;)

So Indeed without that then a Human and Android would be HARD to Distinguish Apart and so WHILE they look like us on the Outside they are Different Internally and i think having WHITE BLOOD plays the Part and Looks the Part.

WHY would a ANDROID need BLOOD?

Now thats a another Question, to a Degree.. we can only Speculate that its NOT just for Aesthetics, but is maybe something that the Androids require to Operate Efficiently, like a Android Oil/Lubrication

David must have LOST a Lot of this Fluid in Prometheus and maybe this is WHY he went a BIT BONKERS LOL

Maybe Walter could have been so KIND as to TOP HIM UP?

Sure, I get what You mean BigDave... (i.e.) WEYLAND . . . or WEYLAND: BUILDING BETTER WORLDS . . . or just BUILDING BETTER WORLDS.

You know Me, I love that idea of using WEYLAND as a backdrop to get started with & potentially have spins-offs emmenate from that such-as what apparantly is going to continue with The Mandalorian regarding Asoka mini-series, Boba Fett mini-series & so-on.

Regarding the OT.

I Joined at the NEWS that a Prequel to ALIEN was in the Works, and so to Discus the Prequel as WHILE indeed the Alien Franchise does interest me.

It was the Potential that we could Uncover who the SPACE JOCKEY Race were that Really Interested me.

But i still like to Discus/Debate and Speculate on ALL THINGS within Context or Not to the ALIEN Franchise.

Been some Interesting Discussions on here over the 8+ Years i have been here, and HERE is to Many More.

Hopefully in 1-2 Years we can get some NEWS on a New Project within the Franchise ;)

Certainly i think a Problem comes with POSTING to the General SCIFIED board that Topics can become LOST a bit.

As FAR as me being a ALIEN... erm?

"The Disney-Fox merger may have ended those hopes for now, but we’re hoping for a potential return based on Hawley’s angle in. Namely: it’s about the people, not the xenomorphs."

Well there was Rumors of a TV Show back in 2018/2019 so maybe it had some Foundation, i think the DISNEY Merger had meant some STUFF had been Canned or on Hold.

We have talked on here before about a TV Series and HOW there is MORE to the ALIEN Franchise than Xenomorphs and Ripley.

So you could have a TV Show that covers some STUFF from the Franchise that is within the SAME UNIVERSE as ALIEN but have to NOT be a ALIEN TV Show if you get what i mean as the ALIEN is sometimes too Synonymous with the Xenomorph.

So EVEN if they dont Explore the Engineers or anything they have Created their is PLENTY to Cover in a SPIN OFF.

Weyland and Yutani were ONCE separate Companies and we had a BIT of History/Information with Weyland Industries via the Prometheus Website, and seen Peter Weyland.   But there is still SO MUCH that could be Covered by Weyland-Yutani.

With Potentially 100 Years of History prior to ALIEN for the Weyland Company and WHO KNOWS as to HOW OLD the Yutani Corporation are.

Those Companies have NOT spend all their TIME in the Pursuit of the Xenomorph or making Flute Playing Androids.

Also the Colonial Marines are NOT around to purely BUG HUNT the Xenomorph.

And so YES i think you can have TV Show especially that is SET in the same Universe as ALIEN but either has NO XENOMORPH or they Play a SMALL Part only.

But it depends on DISNEY and what they would want and WHAT they Feel will Make $$$$ and Views/Subscriptions....  so maybe it be about Xenomorphs or Ripley then lol

it'll be interesting to see how this develops, if it's given a go-ahead.

Things get a bit glitchy around here from time to time, also I think new members have to have their topics approved by admin/mods...not sure about that/don't remember.

I like your idea, NEW direction!!

Also, I like;

"I also wanted a story not to include marines or any of the ‘hurrah’ macho crap that seems to make it int o alien stories. It 50/50 action and horror."

and

"because I wanted the characters to get away from finding an egg and peering inside acting like idiots."

I think you'll find your ideas and direction quite welcome here!! And it'd be nice to see some work done focusing on the engineers, that approach seems to be one that few attempt.

Script format sounds good, people here would happily read script-format if it's a good story, NP there.

@Blackwinter-witch Everything has its explanation, I never liked Ash's scene in ALIEN. But when you point to Alien we are talking about something serious, (Metaphysical Science Fiction)

@DK No idea about that source, I thought it was only when they get angry, like a behavior mode.

There's that, yes, but as Freud said;

'Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar'.

I think they were just going for something 'jarringly-foreshadowing' of Ash's true nature that gets revealed when Parker takes his head off.

A 'wtf?' thing to get the audience's attention and get them wondering what's up with Ash.

Good points, and I TOTALLY understand how you mean regarding 'shuffle'!! Can't stand it myself.

So, I will keep that in mind regarding this idea of a Collected Works project.

The order found here is in-universe chronological, just to say.

I'll be giving this some thought, as a Collected Works piece would make things more convenient for the audience I think.

@Blackwinter-witch apparently with seminal fluid, as organic fluid, you have the procreative side to play, Androids able to procreate like humans, we have David with xenos through his mouth, and Mother from RBW.

dkAlien: Covenant ForumWhat’s the deal with androids and milk?

I think the white blood from Ash was representing semen- sexually suggestive as was his trying to basically rape Ripley with a rolled magazine- imitating the face hugger that also represented a form of rape. It tied in with the sexually suggestive works of Giger. I cannot find the source, but am sure it was a reason given by a reputable source- many people are saying it!

yeah, I was afraid of that, screen size on phones...no real way around that limitation.

Thank-You for downloading them and I am very glad you are enjoying them!!

You are also very welcome!! :D

I have also seen Ray Bradbury Theatre, that short-lived series akin to Twilight Zone...loved his writing-room!!

Martian Chronicles was the very first book given me by my parents, and I still have it, safely retired-from-service of course. My parents would read to me from The Martian Chronicles at bedtime also. :D

I would dream of chessboard-perfect Martian cities...and still do now and then.

I've encountered other stories of his as well, some in school books for english class surprisingly...cannot recall the titles, but I remember one specifically, it had to do with humans being replaced by machines wearing their skins...

@DK is something weird, because although disgusting and repulsive, Ash was not very scary in Alien, even David was not scary either, it seems to choose an actor who plays a crazy Android is not as easy as it seems, Roy Batty was scary in his time, even Amanda Collin as Mother in her role is also really scary, she was a great choice more than anyone I think.

PERSPECTIVE seems to have gotten some good traction, which is a relief, as it was a Experiment. I'm glad folks are enjoying it, a little bit of story to keep ALIEN alive and well. :)

I always thought it had to do with movie ratings and the amount of blood they could show.

Knowing it was a genuine idea to make things creepier...i like that!

I had read somewhere that it may have represented semen back in the Alien days. There is a lot to it but that's the quick down and dirty.

Like everyone else I enjoy coming here to talk about everything Alien. I also come here for some of the drama....to be honest I enjoy a good debate about how these intricate things in the alien universe all fit together.

All that being said there are so many other interesting movies out there and I also miss very much not being able to just go to another part of the web site and talk about this new movie TENET. It just does not exist as part of this platform....I had another log in from about 7 years ago that I lost the login credentials for. I had taken this job and I could not post on here for a few years.

However my career path is a little bit closer to the arts and I need a forum like this more than ever.....one of my goals for the next five years is to write a screen play to shop and get made into a movie.

So like a lot of people I had to start over with the site and create a new login.

I said this before and I want to say it again...I think a lot of us have been absolutely obsessed with Alien....can we play with other toys?????? There are so many other sci-fi movies...I just do not understand why we cannot talk about some other movies...even every once in a while.

Another thing I brought up is that we could do an Alien viewing over Zoom....and hey if you did not really want to join in you could at least point the web cam at your TV and still maintain your privacy....We could still all get wild and crazy and have a good laugh at each other. 5 years or more is long time to be chatting with other people and not have some kind of Skype conference or teamspeak chat where we all get into a real group conversation....we have so many people here that would really enjoy a richer experience.

And for anyone that would want or needs to maintain confidentiality...you can all sign in with fictitious credentials. These are servers with firewalls at corporations....if you do not wish to ever go on camera or say your real name....then that is that we all respect each other but you all know what I mean....I mean we dont even have a facebook or twitter page that we could all log into that is set to private....you all get what I am saying.....

Why are a lot of us coming here for years at a time typing all this stuff when we can have chat conversations on just about any platform and still maintain complete privacy.

Like I said I have been coming here for years but I never asked anyone here ever....where they work, how much they earn, right!!!! I am just here to chat about movies and talk with friends.....and I know not all us even live in the same country......we are global!!!!

Now if I had to guess, of course I can not be sure BD could be a space alien!!! LOL

This was picked up recently on a security cam!!! So if you do not want BD reading your thoughts I suggest plenty of tinfoil!!!!

I grew up with Martian Chronicles and fell in love with Ray Bradbury's stories, all of them, with no exemption.

How fortunate to have such readings at an early age!

Blackwinter-witch I tried to read from Issuu, it is the same as reading a pdf. I need to zoom in quite a lot for my tired eyes.

Nevertheless, I have downloaded all all them.

Keep writing, if you can write from an Alien perspective, you can write about anything.

Thanks again.

dk I noticed Vivisected Engineer was back and quite active some time ago, like a starved xenomorph :). Like Blackwinter-witch well said,, rest until there is no reason to rest.

Imagine what will be when they announce a new film! I just hope we won't be disappointed with some The Predator style one.

Thanks for the members that are still around and holding strong in the hive.

Vivisected Engineer was here not long ago and may have gotten busy with her profession. If you look at the Leader Boards, you can see several members haven't been around since 18 Jan 2019 for whatever reason. I miss them and hopefully they come back- like you say, when some new Alien news comes out.

Great topic, dk.

I am here because of the people who are here. I've never been and have no desire to be a member of any other forum.

I'd like to see returning the other people from the better days, like Lawrence of Arabia, Vivisected Engineer, Ati, Chli to name just a few. Hope they will return when a new film will be announced or sooner than that.

Until then, we have to keep this forum alive.

SuperAlien, it was the computer that got the "declension" dialogue wrong (Ricks talked about other matters). In which case, shame on the producers for not correcting the computer dialogue!

hoxAlien: Covenant Forum to which star system the heroes of Prometheus were invited

BWW, yes certainly the supermassive black hole at the centre of our galaxy could certainly be a useful reference point. I touted the use of Galactic Coordinate because they are already  established and Sun-centric, which puts our home in a "special place". If you picked the centre of the galaxy as a reference point instead of the Sun, you would still be tasked with the problem of defining where the 12 O'clock position of the galactic plane should start (think of a clock dial with no numbers). Of course, the Sun is a very special place to humans, so its position in the Galaxy would be a good direction to use for that purpose! In which case, just sticking with the Sun-centric Galactic Coordinates is just as good.

The Engineers would have a similar choice to make. They could use the supermassive black hole at the galactic centre as the origin of their coordinate system. They would undoubtedly use the plane of the Galaxy as a reference (because that's easily measurable), but where would they put 12 O'clock on the dial? Why, pointing to their home world, of course!

So far the vignettes except for Perspective appear to be pre Manticore. Maybe they could be bundled as a general prequel somehow? I have no idea. The most important thing is to present it how you want readers to take it in.

Off topic- I don't like listening to a CD on shuffle. It's jarring as I expect to hear songs in order- especially if there is a theme to it. I like to hear it the way the band intends it to flow. Just an opinion.

MichartAlien: Covenant Forum to which star system the heroes of Prometheus were invited

after all, you can definitely see that it is not the Reticula system because there is only a star system below canis minor or gemini. maybe it was invented for the movie that there are 6 little stars there, or maybe they are just hard to find. only at the end of the movie may they fly to the Reticuli system to planet 4.
