Did you say milk and androids????
It is for the COOKIES!!!!

Well, RS at least partially backs up the clame less than 2 minutes in. Just so you don't think I'm a sick bastard lol!

There's that, yes, but as Freud said;
'Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar'.
I think they were just going for something 'jarringly-foreshadowing' of Ash's true nature that gets revealed when Parker takes his head off.
A 'wtf?' thing to get the audience's attention and get them wondering what's up with Ash.
Good points, and I TOTALLY understand how you mean regarding 'shuffle'!! Can't stand it myself.
So, I will keep that in mind regarding this idea of a Collected Works project.
The order found here is in-universe chronological, just to say.
I'll be giving this some thought, as a Collected Works piece would make things more convenient for the audience I think.
I think the white blood from Ash was representing semen- sexually suggestive as was his trying to basically rape Ripley with a rolled magazine- imitating the face hugger that also represented a form of rape. It tied in with the sexually suggestive works of Giger. I cannot find the source, but am sure it was a reason given by a reputable source- many people are saying it!
yeah, I was afraid of that, screen size on phones...no real way around that limitation.
Thank-You for downloading them and I am very glad you are enjoying them!!
You are also very welcome!! :D
I have also seen Ray Bradbury Theatre, that short-lived series akin to Twilight Zone...loved his writing-room!!
Martian Chronicles was the very first book given me by my parents, and I still have it, safely retired-from-service of course. My parents would read to me from The Martian Chronicles at bedtime also. :D
I would dream of chessboard-perfect Martian cities...and still do now and then.
I've encountered other stories of his as well, some in school books for english class surprisingly...cannot recall the titles, but I remember one specifically, it had to do with humans being replaced by machines wearing their skins...
Thank-you for the 'nod' :D
PERSPECTIVE seems to have gotten some good traction, which is a relief, as it was a Experiment. I'm glad folks are enjoying it, a little bit of story to keep ALIEN alive and well. :)
Well said! You managed to encapsulate how it is for many of us here relating to this forum!
I always thought it had to do with movie ratings and the amount of blood they could show.
Knowing it was a genuine idea to make things creepier...i like that!
I had read somewhere that it may have represented semen back in the Alien days. There is a lot to it but that's the quick down and dirty.
Like everyone else I enjoy coming here to talk about everything Alien. I also come here for some of the drama....to be honest I enjoy a good debate about how these intricate things in the alien universe all fit together.
All that being said there are so many other interesting movies out there and I also miss very much not being able to just go to another part of the web site and talk about this new movie TENET. It just does not exist as part of this platform....I had another log in from about 7 years ago that I lost the login credentials for. I had taken this job and I could not post on here for a few years.
However my career path is a little bit closer to the arts and I need a forum like this more than ever.....one of my goals for the next five years is to write a screen play to shop and get made into a movie.
So like a lot of people I had to start over with the site and create a new login.
I said this before and I want to say it again...I think a lot of us have been absolutely obsessed with Alien....can we play with other toys?????? There are so many other sci-fi movies...I just do not understand why we cannot talk about some other movies...even every once in a while.
Another thing I brought up is that we could do an Alien viewing over Zoom....and hey if you did not really want to join in you could at least point the web cam at your TV and still maintain your privacy....We could still all get wild and crazy and have a good laugh at each other. 5 years or more is long time to be chatting with other people and not have some kind of Skype conference or teamspeak chat where we all get into a real group conversation....we have so many people here that would really enjoy a richer experience.
And for anyone that would want or needs to maintain confidentiality...you can all sign in with fictitious credentials. These are servers with firewalls at corporations....if you do not wish to ever go on camera or say your real name....then that is that we all respect each other but you all know what I mean....I mean we dont even have a facebook or twitter page that we could all log into that is set to private....you all get what I am saying.....
Why are a lot of us coming here for years at a time typing all this stuff when we can have chat conversations on just about any platform and still maintain complete privacy.
Like I said I have been coming here for years but I never asked anyone here ever....where they work, how much they earn, right!!!! I am just here to chat about movies and talk with friends.....and I know not all us even live in the same country......we are global!!!!

Now if I had to guess, of course I can not be sure BD could be a space alien!!! LOL
This was picked up recently on a security cam!!! So if you do not want BD reading your thoughts I suggest plenty of tinfoil!!!!

I grew up with Martian Chronicles and fell in love with Ray Bradbury's stories, all of them, with no exemption.
How fortunate to have such readings at an early age!
Blackwinter-witch I tried to read from Issuu, it is the same as reading a pdf. I need to zoom in quite a lot for my tired eyes.
Nevertheless, I have downloaded all all them.
Keep writing, if you can write from an Alien perspective, you can write about anything.
Thanks again.
LOL Perspective is getting a lot of mileage around here!
Yeah, I was looking forward to Predator but was pretty disappointed.
dk I noticed Vivisected Engineer was back and quite active some time ago, like a starved xenomorph :). Like Blackwinter-witch well said,, rest until there is no reason to rest.
Imagine what will be when they announce a new film! I just hope we won't be disappointed with some The Predator style one.
Thanks for the members that are still around and holding strong in the hive.
Nest until there is no reason to rest :)
Vivisected Engineer was here not long ago and may have gotten busy with her profession. If you look at the Leader Boards, you can see several members haven't been around since 18 Jan 2019 for whatever reason. I miss them and hopefully they come back- like you say, when some new Alien news comes out.
Great topic, dk.
I am here because of the people who are here. I've never been and have no desire to be a member of any other forum.
I'd like to see returning the other people from the better days, like Lawrence of Arabia, Vivisected Engineer, Ati, Chli to name just a few. Hope they will return when a new film will be announced or sooner than that.
Until then, we have to keep this forum alive.
SuperAlien, it was the computer that got the "declension" dialogue wrong (Ricks talked about other matters). In which case, shame on the producers for not correcting the computer dialogue!
BWW, yes certainly the supermassive black hole at the centre of our galaxy could certainly be a useful reference point. I touted the use of Galactic Coordinate because they are already established and Sun-centric, which puts our home in a "special place". If you picked the centre of the galaxy as a reference point instead of the Sun, you would still be tasked with the problem of defining where the 12 O'clock position of the galactic plane should start (think of a clock dial with no numbers). Of course, the Sun is a very special place to humans, so its position in the Galaxy would be a good direction to use for that purpose! In which case, just sticking with the Sun-centric Galactic Coordinates is just as good.
The Engineers would have a similar choice to make. They could use the supermassive black hole at the galactic centre as the origin of their coordinate system. They would undoubtedly use the plane of the Galaxy as a reference (because that's easily measurable), but where would they put 12 O'clock on the dial? Why, pointing to their home world, of course!
So far the vignettes except for Perspective appear to be pre Manticore. Maybe they could be bundled as a general prequel somehow? I have no idea. The most important thing is to present it how you want readers to take it in.
Off topic- I don't like listening to a CD on shuffle. It's jarring as I expect to hear songs in order- especially if there is a theme to it. I like to hear it the way the band intends it to flow. Just an opinion.
after all, you can definitely see that it is not the Reticula system because there is only a star system below canis minor or gemini. maybe it was invented for the movie that there are 6 little stars there, or maybe they are just hard to find. only at the end of the movie may they fly to the Reticuli system to planet 4.
Same for me. The topics are intriguing, and so much more interesting than the humdrum mundane drivel I hear in the pub.
Also I'm the kind of person who paid the best part of £100 to get hold of a VHS copy of Aliens in the late 80s.
Hello. :)
Who are you?
Don't be afraid to introduce yourself, you will find this to be a welcoming place. :)
"I stick around because there is a pretty good sense of community imo. Yeah- we heckle and fight at times like many families do, but things get sorted among ourselves and Admin/Mods have always been good at dealing with real trouble makers.
The Forum continues to be welcoming of new members as it was to me when I first uttered a comment. We owe new members as much. We were all the noob at one time.
And we can post questionable pictures with plausible deniability because Giger created it…
I enjoy this Forum and those who participate. Thanks. Just sayin’."
I cannot speak for others, but you summed up why I remain here. :D
Great topic, I have to say. It might not get much attention, but it's a really good Topic!
Thank-You for the info!! VERY useful!!
A thought, and BTW I looked up the Pulsar GPS method, and it is VERY clever...yet doesn't take into account intra-galactic motion of, well...everything is moving.
That however is a minor point and easily factored in based on average galactic movement.
What if you based all nav-points from Galactic Center, then applied the Pulsar GPS?
The emissions from the hypermassive black hole at Galactic core make it a super-lighthouse to gain a Primary Fix from it seems to me.
Or did I miss something?
I am experiencing memory-slips, and thus that IS something I must factor in to anything I do/say...annoying, but such is how it is for me right now.
Hmmm....
Thoughts are stirring.
"We hope it is felt as a compliment to have your work and both Ray Bradbury's and Theodore Sturgeon's work being favorably mentioned in the same sentence. Keep traversing The Silence."
To have my works compared favorably and complimentarily to two of the greatest writers, one of whom is a personal favorite...I think you can imagine how much that means to me!!?? 'Thank-You' is woefully inadequate, so I will just have to trust that the true sentiment is carried on those words and speaks to you of my appreciation and gratitude!!
I am very glad that my works gave you and others enjoyment and helped boost the survival of the essence and character of this franchise!!
I don't write anything for 'glory' or fame...I write because I want to give people something new, special, a mental vacation they enjoy, some time away from real life and it's mundane hassles.
So, when I get compliments, I know then that I hit that mark and helped make life a little bit better and more fun for some folks. :D
ALIEN is special, I write in it also to preserve the essence and character and mystique of this badly abused franchise.
People in the industry always keep trying to hammer it into being what they want it to be and it cannot be.
I just try to keep it alive and true to itself and the intent of it's creators.
And the compliments are comforting to me in that they tell me I am at least hitting the dartboard of my intent even if not the bullseye. :D
So...simply-put...
((HUG))
...Human kind, not the other kind. :D
Ray Bradbury...
Probably my all-time favorite author. I have worn-out three copies of The Martian Chronicles thus far in my life. :D
The ones I read-to-pieces I still keep...they just get retired from service. lol
One day, I'll do something meant to be a tribute and memorialization to him.
The Martian Chronicles helped me get through some tough times and is also responsible for hubby and I meeting each other for the first time. :D
"I hope it is felt as a compliment to have your work and Theodore Sturgeon being favorably mentioned in the same sentence."
It VERY much lit up my day, and Thank-You again so very, very much for that compliment in being held-up alongside T. Sturgeon...one of the most respected and highly-regarded writers there is.
I looked him up, and he was a very intriguing man, so from that I have discovered new paths to pursue as a person...which I never would have discovered had you not complimented my works in the way you did.
You gave me more than a compliment, you gave me some keys to open additional doors in my life for my future!!! (HUG) :D
I always FIND the Mesopotamia Heads of Mount Nemrut Interesting.

Certainly Hox ;)
The Star Charts we use on EARTH are from our Perspective and so if you say Traveled to say Sirius then HOW the Constellations look from Earth would be DIFFERENT from Sirius System. So indeed the with Holloway and his Star Map this could be the View from another Location but NOT taken from Earth.
But the Zeta Reticuli System should still NOT appear below Gemini well to that Area to the Left of Orion.... But Sci-Fi does make Mistakes.
Regarding the OT then despite that Error, it seems that they WISH to indicate to us that LV-223 is located in the Zeta Reticuli Binary System
Regarding Ricks and Alien Covenant they maybe taking the Co-Ordinates from the Current Location of the Covenant at that Time, but i bet its NOT Scientifically Accurate.
Noted. Instinct guides action ;)
We hope it is felt as a compliment to have your work and both Ray Bradbury's and Theodore Sturgeon's work being favorably mentioned in the same sentence. Keep traversing The Silence.
dk don't forget my mentioning of Ray Bradbury in the same sentence :).
hox in the novelization by ADF it is declination not declension.
I believe the script used the correct word but Ricks got it wrong.
Curiosity impels Investigation :D
PERFECT for those in the know lol!
it is strange how reading someone's work can knock cobwebs out of the brain and bring recollections of things from the past. Something in PERSPECTIVE did just that. Besides enjoying the vignette, I hope it is felt as a compliment to have your work and Theodore Sturgeon being favorably mentioned in the same sentence.
