Interesting treatment Snorkelbottom. However I still believe that the eggs were in a chamber beneath the derelict, not in the Derelict. Still works with your story though.
Also perhaps the symbiot derelict could somehow have been infiltrated by the Alien DNA as the Pilot was. As they are conected in the Jockey seat the DNA could have passed from the gestating Alien from SJ to Derelict. You could take this into many strange and horrific areas....

Read Spaith's tweet...they pick and chose what to keep for the canon...so they dumped the stuff they did not like and kept what was important to the story...

I can see the disappearance of the "Prometheus", the malfunctions and Weyland missing causing quite a stir back on earth...
ReplybregoPrometheus Forum"Cybernetic Individuals"Feb 28, 2012
Well the artificial humanoids in blade runner, from memory, did not know they were synthetic until they were told. Memories of growing up, family etc were implanted. They went AWOL after finding out and ran amok. If we remember Call, in Alien 4, had joined a group of AWOL Synthetics who found out about Ripley being Cloned (Alien Queen and all) and is sent in to neutralise the situation. I think there is some conection there.
Interesting.....

I was hoping for a big conspiratorial story involving androids in this movie and touched on it a bit here It looks like I might get my wish. : )

STELLAR acting. If we can expect more from Peter's TED address, then awesome! What a great character. Am the only one who happens to think that we DONT need another more elaborate 'trailer'? If we get something like this every few weeks then I will be extremely pleased as a fan.

Because he's about wealth and power not humanitarian causes. He would keep the secret to eternal life to himself. The man that can live forever can become a God.

Thing is, if he's invented cybernetic beings - why didn't he invent cybernetic body parts that would be compatible for humans and prevent deterioration?

My God Weyland is an anagram for New Lady! He makes a clone of himself but changes it's sex in the womb and has his own baby in the future!
Okay I'll stop now.

The Prometheus an all aboard including Weyland disappear, prompting the android to be used as stated by Weyland himself, in cases as this where he knew he would not come back...so he instilled his memories into the machine and upon disappearance, the android would be activated.
ReplyjrockPrometheus ForumFirst Image of Guy Pearce as WeylandFeb 28, 2012
So "Prometheus" (the ship) was created by this "god" (Weyland) to steal "fire" (possibly the facehugger) to bring back to man.
I'll go along with the old man in the trailer being Weyland.
Reply BiomechanicPrometheus ForumFirst Image of Guy Pearce as WeylandFeb 28, 2012
"maybe so, but Prometheus is set 50 years after this video, and he doesn't seem to have aged, I think guy pearce may be the second android"
Could be the dreaded time travel, he could have programmed his thoughts in to an android the will live forever, he could have stopped the aging process with nanotechnology. He could have gone into hypersleep until the mission. The trip to LV-426 could take this long and the entire crew were in hypersleep and are younger than they should be, It could all just be a dream.

It was referring to my initial assumption, hence the lack of activity in the thread since that post
ReplyMr.JPrometheus ForumFirst Image of Guy Pearce as WeylandFeb 28, 2012
I think he is the old guy in the wheel chair too because in the trailer when the security team are rushing with guns toward the threat, you can see three people from what I remember holding the old man and protecting him...it would make sense...this was Weyland's dream...the fountain of youth for him and to crush all those that doubted him and his work...

Yes, but you wrote "back then I was so sure I was right and then i was proved wrong. Happens to the best of us.", what can be relating to any other of your previous posts and not necessarily your initial assumption. And as I said, since I didn't find any official counter evidence to your assumption in this yet open thread (which I found by Google), I only wanted to give it this final piece of clarification for new visitors (like me) to come.

True. It says "celebrating 50 years of building better worlds", but I'm not sure when the 50 years started. Maybe Peter Weyland's parents started Weyland Corporation? From "About the speaker"...
Sir Peter Weyland was born in Mumbai, India at the turn of the Millennium. The progeny of two brilliant parents; His mother, an Oxford Educated Professor of Comparative Mythology, his father, a self-taught software Engineer, it was clear from an early age that Sir Peter’s capabilities would only be eclipsed by his ambition to realize them. By the age of fourteen, he had already registered a dozen patents in a wide range of fields from biotech to robotics, but it would be his dynamic break-throughs in generating synthetic atmosphere above the polar ice cap that gained him worldwide recognition and spawned an empire.
In less than a decade, Weyland Corporation became a worldwide leader in emerging technologies and launched the first privatized industrial mission to leave the planet Earth. “There are other worlds than this one,” Sir Peter boldly declared, “And if there is no air to breathe, we will simply have to make it.”

@Engr101 - maybe he is only for 10 minutes in the movie, he launches the story, sends crew to space, and..that's all. I'm hope not, this clip just blow my mind. : )
ReplyMembranePrometheus ForumFirst Image of Guy Pearce as WeylandFeb 28, 2012
Snork... you could assume he is going with the crew based on this from the TED Blog under the heading "About the Talk" under the video on the right.
Peter Weyland has been a magnet for controversy since he announced his intent to build the first convincingly humanoid robotic system by the end of the decade.
Whether challenging the ethical boundaries of medicine with nanotechnology or going toe to toe with the Vatican itself on the issue of gene-therapy sterilization, Sir Peter prides himself on his motto, “If we can, we must.” After a three year media blackout, Weyland has finally emerged to reveal where he’s heading next. Wherever that may be, we will most certainly want to follow.
