As stated previously, Xeno's only really go out at night, and in groups usually. Given the nature of night life where I live I don't really think I would lose much sleep. The only thing that would worry me, would be the after effects on the subject matter debated on TV shows like Jerry Springer ( I say debated, gratuitous violence would probably be more accurate). Other than that, It does give rise to the opportunity of turning up the decibels on a few Frank Ifield tunes and seeing what effect that has. Seemed to work for Mars Attacks.

The PG rating in Ontario I think is wrong. I thought it was "AA" [14 or above without an adult]. If it truly got a PG rating, getting a rating of a true "R" for nearly anything would be impossible.
This entire PG-13 ruining Prometheus is kinda crap. If Alien can pass a PG-13 in most parts of the world, Prometheus can be on the same gore/idea level and still get a PG-13. Plus, the average episode of supernatural is gorier then Alien was.

Hey man, it's sooo cool...no worries at all...Your post made me think hard about what I wanted to say and here is a few of the thoughts I wrote down with your post in mind last night in case you are interested...by the way I may have worded it wrong but my intention was NOT to make you feel bad. I apologize if I did at all in any way at all.
#1-IMO in order to be here at all, and if we even realize it ourselves or not...in order to be right here on these forums, we had to have found at the very least, at least 1little thing in each of the Franchise's first 4 films, that we LIKED.
#2-Signourney Weaver's character of Ellen Ripley became so enduring to so many people that the first 4 films IMO should be considered "CANON" as you would say and are what they are in large part due to the popularity, loyalty to , and following that her character/SHE garnered. I have the ultimate respect for the word as it was intended to be used and what it stands for, but to me it generalizes to narrow a bandwidth for so much material to consider when weiging validity and continuity in the Alien Franchise storyline.
#3-The first film in any film franchise that is successful is always because of or on the strength of it's first film in the series. That film is the hook that sets the stage for the rest of them and it is almost unheard of to see a film that comes out 2nd thru 4th in a franchise to be BETTER "per sey" than the original. That said there is much validity to your argument that ONLY the first film should matter. But I loved them all and it hurt me or hit to close to home to read that I guess because I did. I mean I understand why they lost something as we go down the line and I hated the mutation to that creature at the end of Resurrection, but...There's like NO chance in any popular film franchise for subsequent films in it to ever mean more than the original film in it.
#4-O'Bannon I feel is waymore deserving than anyone gives credit. he was/is just a really starange guy who touched some people the wrong way with his bad character.
Buut that does not diminish the fact that his importance to all of this is maybe the only importance that is as important or more so than Ridley Scott's. The Beach Ball of StarBeast was his yes...that's why we have a Xenomorph today folks, last time I checked at least.
#5-Alan Dean Foster wrote out the first 3 films in his HUGELY POPULAR novelizations.
He also wrote in some very awesome stuff that what..."can't be Canon" because they weren't officialy part of the first film?
I guess in the end like I said it comes down to the fact that I just do not like the word "Canon". LOL I rationalize it like this...A "Canon" in my world is a very old and slow incumbered weapon you gotta light a wick on and spray and pray with...it ain't very accurate In and of itself I guess...oh it sounds all big and tugh when I read it and I guess that intimidates me a bit because of that too.
Very provocative post this one was for me, made me think a lot about it.
I like the idea, but still think I am open to accept anything Ridley decides to do with it, for me it'll all be just as vaklid if he includes references from all4 films but I don;t think he will becayse it is after a Prequel so it would be logical that it only concern itself wiht reunning into the first of the franchise films.
Thanks man.

I am really nervous. i am English but live in Cyprus. When Thor came out, for some reason it came out 2 weeks before anywhere else in the world, and also with 300, it came out a week before anywhere else but then it gets crazy here..... movies like Battle LA and Rise of the planet of the apes came out about a month or so after everywhere else. A lot of movies come out at the same time as most countries but it is so unpredictable here and i pray, i really do pray this at least comes out June the Th a day before my birthday. I have searched the internet for release dates of Prometheus for Cyprus but no luck. Can anyone help or advise a trustworthy source for any confirmation. I know if it comes out weeks later than the rest of you I will not be able to control myself and not go on this sight and read the reviews as I check this site about 3 times a day...... no exaggeration.
Anyone else in this sort of situation????

ReplyL.WatkinsPrometheus ForumTHE COMPANY'S MOTIVESFeb 23, 2012
Spartacus. Agreed. . . I was just analyzing the depth of the motives.
Simon. Interesting theory. But the answer might be in the "Head Monolith room" The containers/seeds in the Head Room are different than the eggs in the bowels of the ship. If you look closely in Alien, a decent part of the bottom of the chamber is covered in dirt and sediment leading me to believe that; the Derelict ship crashed and embedded itself in the landscape before the eggs were laid, the Alien being ultimately responsible for the crash. Perhaps the humans in Prometheus turn the SJ's bioweapon back on them setting the events of Alien into place. But who knows other than the filmmakers. . .
ReplyXenophobePrometheus ForumTHE COMPANY'S MOTIVESFeb 23, 2012
In the Prometheus movie, I think we'll find out that Weyland were only aware of this distant world belonging to the SJ's, and NOT of the Xenomorphs existence aswell. As we'll see that when discovering this planet, a Weyland crewmember will find out about the DNA sequencing of this "perfect" species (Xeno's), which would pretty much give anyone who controls them absolute autonomy on everything basically. . .
ReplyGuestPrometheus ForumTHE COMPANY'S MOTIVESFeb 23, 2012
Im not too sure about Bishop. I think he was a company mole acting independently of Burke. The company had to send two people to make sure the plan wouldnt fail like in the first movie.
It may not have been the queen who brought those eggs on board. Bishop was absent for a portion of the film, then pilots in later to save the day.
The egg is seen in alien 3 upside down on the corner of the ceiling. An unusual way for the eggs to be, however, you can argue that the queen pushed up against the wall and laid her last one in such a way because the egg sack was gone?
We know there was at least one egg and two face huggers on board. However, we do not know if there were anymore, nor do we know exactly how Hicks died because his body was so badly damaged.
Maybe both the queen and Bishop are both guilty?
Bishop may have brought a face hugger(s) with him somhow. Face huggers may not attack androids because they cant breed with them. This is why one face hugger is still on the ship when it crashes in Alien 3. Ripley has one face hugger on her, Newt is drowned in crash, Hicks dies in crash, Bishop was left alone. On the basis that the face hugger was hatched at time of the emergency when the first face hugger attacked ripley, that is, maybe it didnt have time to attack Newt or Hicks before the crash.
Sorry if i went a little off topic, just a rant.
ReplyThe CompanyPrometheus ForumTHE COMPANY'S MOTIVESFeb 23, 2012
The company must have good knowledge of what is going on. Ash says his orders were to retrieve the specimen, i think.
Also, dont rule out Bishop as being a company mole working independently of Burke. We know there were at least two face huggers and one egg on board the ship when it crashed at the start of Alien 3. We never find out exactly how Hicks died because his body was damaged badly.
One of the two face huggers seems to just hang around until after the crash. Surely it would have gone for Newt or Hicks if they were still alive at the time of Ripley being attacked by the other face hugger. Unless........ Newt was drowned before the crash and there was a third face hugger already attacking Hicks.
It would not attack an android, so Bishop was left alone. Sorry if i went off topic slightly.
ReplySIMONbPrometheus ForumTHE COMPANY'S MOTIVESFeb 23, 2012
@L.Watkins - true, it all adds up. I just think there is something in the positioning of the ampules vs the eggs that set me thinking this way. In truth, I've not really thought it through in terms of things in the canon which might disprove it - I just really like it as an idea.
@The Company - 'the specimen' could just as easily refer to the ampule/seed thing as to the xeno/hugger/egg. Again, what you say makes sense, but I like thinking through the alternatives. If the 'classic' xeno hadn't been seen before the events of Alien, surely The Company were hunting for *something* but they may not have known exactly what.
ReplySIMONbPrometheus ForumTHE COMPANY'S MOTIVESFeb 23, 2012
and now i'm gonna talk myself out of it...
The company must have known what they were after, as there were no orders to the crew to collect a sample. WY must have known, therefore, that the 'specimen' would make it's own way onto the ship if the crew got nearby. They were therefore not looking for an ampule, or an egg, they were looking for a creature - so yes, they did know.
I'm not schizophrenic, honestly....

Take into account the Alien is meant to be just that, "Alien" don't try to attach per-conceived notions of Humanity on it. Giger created the life form and we know it is a Bio-Mechanoid. Its basically a machine that is made up of organic and not organic parts but fused perfectly into a life form, unlike a cyborg it is born of Organic and Mechanical. Other than that we can not know, more than likely it does not have organs as you would recognize them or even perceive in a manner we could understand. Just because it has a head like a dolphin does not mean it uses ultrasound, its Alien, it was created by beings that use organic ships to fly around. To understand the alien you have to think outside the box. Its a monster, its not natural, its a machine,
ReplyCantSpaceJockTheRockPrometheus Forumxenomorph perceptionFeb 23, 2012
Giger designed the original Xenomorph to have a very human like skull under the face part of its dome. I believe this to be because the "Alien" parasite was ment to adapt to whatever its host was, taking on some characteristics of its host in order to fulfill its true purpose. Since its a bio-weapon that would be warfare and such maybe as large as to carry out planet wide extinction for easier resource harvest by their creaters. It has forward facing eye sockets that are similar to humans in size and shape, now whether they are similar in function is a whole other story. . you can slightly see the skull and eye sockets in this picture as well. "Giger conceived the Alien as being vaguely human but a human in full armor, protected from all outside forces. He mandated that the creature have no eyes, because he felt that it made them much more frightening if you could not tell they were looking at you" as to what ridley thought while filming that couldve been slightly different. any ideas?

this may not help but in the first AVP movie when one of the men get trapped in one of the small hall like tunnels you get a good long look of a xeno lifting its head up and kinda "looking" at the poor fella thats gunna become its next victim, anyway back on track, as its lifting its head up you see, what i would assume to be quarter or nickel sized, holes going the length of the its head along the side. now im not sure if it was a part of the design of the drone type xenos or a costume design for the xenos in that movie but i do think that they use those holes to sence where theyre going, what theyre hearing and smelling, ect, ect. i know in the AVP 360 game you do play as an alien and in the game they can sense, smell, and hear you and they use the smell they pick up to kind of "see" you. then again that is a game and ill probly end up getting mocked and ridiculed for even bringing it up.

I agree, i doubt this is going to be a true "Alien" movie. I may not be the biggest fan of Alien but I have been watching it monthly (all 4 movies monthly) since i was 6 and i do see how people could think this is going to be an alien movie. so lets back up an take a look at the trailer shall we?
At 0:24 in the trailer we see the vehicles that the team is using to get around on the planet, take a look at the logo. Im not going to say that Weyland-Yutani was the only company that did space travel an such but if it was that would probly be the company in the movie consedering that in the Second and Third Alien movies it was pretty much Weyland-Yutani that wanted the Xenos also at 0:29-0:30 you see the main chamber of where ever they are, take not at the giant face, wasnt there in alien and more importantly take a look at the egg like structures around the people. they arent eggs, therefor no xenos, next we'll be taking a look at the "ship" theyre in. (at 0:53 we see the "ship" im going to assume, then at 0:55 it pans out to show more of it) When we first got a look at the Xeno ship in 1 and 2 it kinda looked like a funky plane right? i mean it kinda did to me and still does ill have to go back to take a look at it to be sure, ANY WAY, its kinda completely round...ish.... sorta.... i mean look at it its like a huge ring. now i WILL say this in alien we did see kind of a throne in one of the rooms right well i THINK that at 0:44 (just for that brief moment we see something come up outta the floor) thats what we see and if they try to tie this to Alien then.... well thats probly going to be the thing they use.
im just saying people that if you sit down an look at this trailer and compare it to the Alien movies it doesnt seem very likely that this is going to be one of them. just dont go there with your hopes up. i MAY go see it but i doubt it. in any event if i do im going to see it expecting it to be its own movie not a prequel to alien.

The movie will tie into everything a true fan knows, but remain separate enough to encourage new fans off the back of this original film. I can't see the film being too detached from Alien as it is the film that creates the monster. And remember it's only 'Weyland' in this film as far as we know, the companies have not merged; maybe they will include 'Yutani' maybe not...... I expect Ridley doesn't care less, but Fox might want it......

The link between Alien and Blade Runner is very weak, actually only that both movies have A.I. / Androids in the human society, nothing else.
Prometheus however shares much more with Alien, as it has
the Space Jockey and the derelict ship, The teaser trailer is using the
same creepy sound effect like the egg teaser trailer for Alien,
the PROMETHEUS lettering is building up on the same way
like ALIEN.
Not to forget that Ridley Scott himself mentioned that the last
8 minutes of this movie develops to a quite good Alien DNA.
I think the classic Xenomorph won't appear in this one, but rather
a similar creature and maybe the last thing we might see is either
a xenomorph egg or the chestbursting from the SJ ;)
ReplyhicksandhudsonPrometheus ForumWHY DOES EVERYONE THINK THIS IS AN ALIEN MOVIE?Feb 23, 2012
This is dumb. From the beginning this has been stated to be an origin story set in the same universe. The freaking derelict spacecraft is shown in the trailer, as is a space jockey. Wetland corporations logo is also visible.
When they made the star wars prequels, they were deemed as star wars prequels and the darth vader origin story, yet darth vader only had about 45 minutes of screen time out of a more than 6 hour story. You don't need an alien queen and a chest ureter scene for this to be an alien movie, which it 100% will be based on the trailer

Guaranteed a reboot of ALIEN franchise, branching off to new unexplored territories. Interstellar warfare could be one direction this one is going. Damon Lindelof has written for STAR TREK about long standing inter galactic grudge, Guy Pearce stars in a time-travelling movie called TIME MACHINE where there is a long standing grudge between Eloi & Morlocks, Patrick Wilson stars in a movie where there is an all powerful blue humanoid demigod who lives on Mars, Kate Dickie stars in 2 Old England medieval dramas, HBO Games of Throne & Pillars of Earth, both centering politics between powerful clans, Noomi Rapace is best known for her work in DRAGON TATTOO where she is raped and consequently takes a sweet revenge on her rapist, Benedict Wong stars in SUNSHINE, a scifi drama where a crew goes on a suicide mission to the Sun to save the world (!), Michael Fassbender is in little seen horror thriller called EDEN LAKE, where he & his girlfriend are vacationing in an paradise-like spot before murderous teenagers accuse them of encroaching their territory (!), Idris Elba plays a military type in 28 WEEKS LATER about a quarantined city where all kinds of monstrosities break free (!), Charlize Theron is known for her scifi work in AEON FLUX where she plays a mysterious operative sent to assassinate a man who found a cure for a deadly virus that wipes out millions of people.
The hints are all there in the casting.

Also not sure that the jump off the vehicle warrants a world class diver, therefore I think it's more of an emotional way of how he represented himself physically rather than his ability.........
