ya know... "watch the trailer again" is what I would say to people...cause it's blatantly obivous from it... That's LV-426! That's the Derelict and Ridley Scott Showing us how it got there! That's about as Alien Related as anything anywhere anytime ever could get! In fact I do not even think it;s debateable! It's a "Part and Parcel Of The Entire Franchise" film. And I predict it will be first Sci-Fi film in Oscar History and in SAG history to win both Best Picture & Best Director at Both presentations!!!

I presume he's referring to the Punked-up/mutated bloke whose leaps and bounds have provoked much pictorial analysis on here, like some sort of crazed-looking Spiderman. I rather like the idea of Gervais falling victim to something hideous like the Alien and would pay to see such combination of (reputedly) funny and (definitely) scary & gorey...something for the mooted sequel, perhaps.

i think its fair to say that in any encounter the alien p.o.v would be the favoured one from ricks paste we are food parcels - doomed, due to their multi sensing array id like to know what they think about what they do, but then i remember ash's short synopsis.... unclouded by delusion etc, they only kill and dont think.

Not anymore relocated to Cincinnati just last week.

It's a more powerful film than the other two (proper) sequels. In fact watching the first film again recently for first time in years it is ruined by a totally beserk flashing-lights-& blaring-sirens final 10 minutes that sets the blueprint for the hysteria of Cameron's ending, right down to the creature hitching a ride and Ripley's rescuing of a vulnerable party.

Enough with this Lambert gets raped crap.........Oh and by the way....there never was a rape scene in 'Alien'....for your information, that shot of the tail going through "her" legs was actually a shot from the scene in which Brett dies. The editor and Scott inserted in Lambert's death scene for effect and what the tail actually does can be seen here in 'Heavy Metal's Illustrated Alien' comic from 79'........ There is the suggestion of rape in Alien (Lambert's off camera screams) which has been discussed on various forums. I think Ridley might go whole hog and give us interspecies sex.

There has always been an insinuation (from Ridley & Lindelof in early interviews) and that there are TWO androids and more than one species of Alien in this film.

I hate 3d live action 3d film or at least those produced up till now especially those which were filmed in 2d and forced into 3d! Blurry and obviously effected. Did anyone see Clash of The Titans in 3d I asked for my money back.

Agreed CharlieDontSurf, however the scenes featuring the Alien in full flight are not CGI they created a new tech called Go Motion using a puppet and puppeteers. Unfortunately this tech looks a tad crappy.... Having said that I think one of the strongest scenes in the whole series is in 3. The Alien kiss scene in the infermary is fantastic and truly powerful...

@ GRINDOLF the whole point of this thread was to get people to think outside the box . The suggested notions of perception were put just to stimulate debate . I have no idea how the xeno perceives the world but its an attempt to stimulate a debate that as far as i know has not been discussed before and any ideas from the community are welcome and encouraged . In alien three there was a camera point of view of the xeno but unlike predator as far as i'm aware we have yet to see how the xeno interprets the world so its something to consider if there ever was another film made that reflects the aliens environment and how it internalise's that perception. Thanks rick for that lengthy analysis it makes for interesting reading.

anything that improves the viewing experience should be considered, and think of the potentially amazing visuals that would give the films a new lease of life, im thinking aliens in particular and the more effects/action driven aspects.

Star Wars Ep I -III 3D!!! nothing can improve those travesties,Darth Lucas is just cashing in now....(yeah yeah I know wrong forum),but 3D only works for people with near perfect vision. I watched Clash of the Titans 3D,don't judge me, was an absolute mess, mostly blurry and busy action scenes. Sooooo no I don't think the Alien series would benefit from a 3D make over,it won't really add any thing.

I read it and love it, it was awesome and I think they made a movie of it too which I saw...

I strongly recommend book 'Solaris'. It's deep, dark and tells a lot about us, human beings.

Just to add up to the theory that the Company knew there was something out there in space due to the events in Prometheus. Of course back in 1979 nobody thought about another mission prior to the Nostromo landing on LV426, but it gives now with Prometheus plenty of material to dig: 1.- Capt. Dallas did mentioned that his usual science officer was replaced by Ash at the last minute. 2.- Ash explains Parker that the company contract establishes that if a crew member refuses to investigate the unknown signal, he won't have any money at all. 3.- The Nostromo "mother "not only awakens the crew, it actually detours to the planetoid system. 4.- Ash was very annoyed by Ripley when she visited him at the lab, and when she wanted to alert the derelict team about the transmission. 5.- He stares at Kane at the dinner before he even starts to cough. So my guess is that the Prometheus mission might end up like the "event horizon " ship, that the official statement is that the ship failed and exploded rather than say the ship actually disappeared or was lost without any trace or any lead ti investigate

The reason I believe it is called "Prometheus" is two fold. #1-It's the name of the main protaganists' ship and more importantly... #2-I believe it is named this way because of the main feature of the entire story which to me is 100% GOING TO TURN OUT TO BE THIS IDEA... SOMEONE ON BOARD PROMETHEUS, STEALS SOMETHING{S} just as the mythological figure stole FIRE from the g-ds and gave that technology to Mankind. VIALS !!!

3-D is too gimmicky. Even when filmed in 3-D it can look ok, but I personaly don't care for it and there is a large group of people who actively stay away from them. I'm not gonna see Prometheus in 3-D. I will see one once in awhile. I'm more impressed with a movie filmed in IMAX.

The Alien IS in it...just not in the form you remember it as.

punch fox in the face. 3D can be good, very good, like avatar, tron legacy, and toy story 3, but most of the time it looks like crap at re-releasing them on 3D is just a waste of time and money. also i don't think they would do that, remember, titanic had one of the biggest money impacts ever and star wars has the biggest cultural impact ever. alien is great and all but does not have that kind of recognition to the public.

um....... you do know the space jockey is in it right? and the company? the only thing not in it is the alien itself, thats why its called Prometheus, not alien 5. besides that it is directly related.
