Lol, i dont think so.
Human and dogs have body hairs too
and yet the adult aliens dont have any
hair.
hair would only be problematic to
Fire and the silicon like skin
of the alien is to without
hazardous environment, though
Immense heat like fire still can
Kill it.

That would be interesting to see, especially how gruesome the implantation tentacles would be as they slipped out of the victim's mouth. Also, I like how in Alien, if you watch carefully, there are actually multiple small tentacles coming from the facehugger, as opposed to the bulky fat one featured in the sequels.
ReplyNot_my_intentionAlien Movies ForumWhere is the Facehugger in the Med room?Feb 22, 2012
@Dewey70 that was actually clams made to look like insides, places inside of a horseshoe crab or something, not testicles. also i think the facehuger in alien looks the best when on the face, but the best facehuger insides would need to be the ones from aliens, much more realistic :) and yeah that would be creepy, kind of like the running one from aliens, but up the wall :x
ReplyPOOPMETHEUSAlien Movies ForumWhere is the Facehugger in the Med room?Feb 22, 2012
I wouldn't use the other films to explain anything concerning the first... All the sequels bastardized the 1979 film and took the story off in their own direction separate from Ridleys.
ReplyZeta2Alien Movies ForumWhere is the Facehugger in the Med room?Feb 22, 2012
If you watch the scene just before it drops on her shoulder, you can just see it at top right to middle screen. It's almost as if Ash poked it with that inspection light, stick, or whatever it was, and fell off the other side onto her shoulder. I'll try to capture a screen shot.
ReplyDewey70Alien Movies ForumWhere is the Facehugger in the Med room?Feb 22, 2012
@invaderzim42 Naw, I meant "tentacles," not testicles. The thin tube that goes down the victim's throat. I saw an artist's rendering online not too long back, and according to it, one of the tubes fed the embryo into the throat, while a separate tube went down the victim's lungs. I'll try and see if I can dig it up.

ReplyPOOPMETHEUSPrometheus ForumWho Laid the first Egg in Alien Feb 21, 2012
I've always liked the ideal that the eggs were actually the Space Jockey crew... after being turned into them by the Alien. I figure the original creature that infected the S.J in the chair was the actual cargo that got loose.
ReplyL. WatkinsPrometheus ForumGive your Scene for Prometheus that would be better than Cherstbuster Alien 1979Feb 21, 2012
Humerous Human Fuck Puppets - Possibly a scene(s) reverting back to the sexual perversive undertones of Alien. Maybe human beings were created as the Space Jockey equivalent of a sentient "Fleshlight". Being that human beings were bred as concubine sex slaves to help Space Jockey's endure the woes of long space travel. SJs bioengineered humans to have humerous mating rituals/practices. And were entertained by them.

@craigmore
That's the reason why they choose PROMETHEUS as title.
ReplyPOOPMETHEUSPrometheus Forumwouldnt it be cool if the sjs were transporting a queen alienFeb 21, 2012
I never cared for the ideal of an Alien Queen, I hope that story line gets abandoned all together. I like the ideal that the eggs themselves are a living entity created from a victim.

ReplyXenophobePrometheus ForumWhat is considered Canon in the Prometheus storyline. . .Feb 21, 2012
Oh I don't mind whether this Prometheus movie fits in with the Alien canon or not. It just struck me as odd how this film could possibly take place in the Alien "universe", if it ignores one of the major things from the actual Alien franchise as a whole (The Queen I mean). . . Anyway, I think yes this film will more than likely follow the life cycle that was originally gonna be the basis of the Alien movie. I.e the mutation into a Xenomorph egg etc, as this is definitly a more disturbing way of reproducing in my eyes!

I'm not completely convinced that it's a head, but if it is I'm considering whether the creature is shot from the trunk of the Engineer? or the helmet is opened and the contents is simply released over the examiners in a gooey mess (this scene may have been included to intice debate and re-direct us - although it was a leaked trailer).
Or it could still be a weapon, if the Engineers are benevolent then it may be that they kill each other at the drop of the hat; using whatever we have seen to do the job...................
And, @CharlieDontSurf - yes it does look like the creature pulled from the Ampule, squid like.......

BellaisanAlien,
I think you have the head circled in your illustrations. The one with "torches still in the hands of Shaw and Mudow". The head is turned to the side.

Oh one more thing.. I'm going out on a limb here. You know the "hand" that is shown in the very last image of the trailer? Well look to the right of the "Head", looks like a hand with the palm up. Does that look like the same kind of hand?

This reminds me of a 1987 movie called THE HIDDEN with Kyle MacLachlan about alien organism which takes a human host but has the ability to literally jump to another host through the mouth of the host (!)

If this film does indeed preceed Alien and the Xenomorph in that movie alone, I'd have thought the creature(s) we see in Prometheus will be highly intelligent. Especially if they somehow share the same DNA/Genetic makeup as the SJ's, which appears likely. . .

ReplyTetraDecoPrometheus ForumSo...when exactly can we kill the time travel notion and move on?Feb 21, 2012
Well, convince me the time travel plot point is not already played out. Because it seems to me that using time travel is too easy of a plot device that shortcuts to the big ideas.
ReplyGavinPrometheus ForumSo...when exactly can we kill the time travel notion and move on?Feb 21, 2012
I think the whole time travel element came about with the mention of FTL (Faster Than Light) travel, which kick started discussions into the theories of time dilation.
In my opinion the only franchise that has used time travel effectively is the Terminator, any other time it has been used it has either just been a gimmick (Bill & Ted) or simply lame (Sphere, Timecop etc.).
Looking at Ridley's back catalogue of movies it is apparent that whenever he directs something he approaches it from a fresh angle that most directors would avoid (a realistic robin hood, human androids with feelings, a perverted alien stalking the crew of a ship, a realistic re-enactment of actual military combat). So I personally don't see time travel been used in Prometheus.
ReplyCypherPrometheus ForumSo...when exactly can we kill the time travel notion and move on?Feb 21, 2012
@craigamore, I'm trying not to, but the overuse of old ideas and CGI nowadays is starting to grate on me. The last time I went to the cinema was to see The Thing last year (and I kinda wish I hadn't,) the time before that was in 2010 to see Evangelion 2.0 in Japanese :-P oh and once more that year to see Predators, which I actually thought wasn't too bad. Haven't seen it since, maybe that would be worth a rental.......
ReplyMala'kakPrometheus ForumSo...when exactly can we kill the time travel notion and move on?Feb 21, 2012
From some info I learned through taking a survey asking me about upcoming 2012 movies I can reveal that the Prometheus is the first of its kind craft with FTL capabilities. Not sure if that means we'll be seeing any time dilation, it could just be an explanation for how they get to where they're going so fast.
ReplyMala'kakPrometheus ForumSo...when exactly can we kill the time travel notion and move on?Feb 21, 2012
No prob, there was one site that ran the news at the time last year. I posted in a thread here, AVPgalaxy.net, and Superherohype when I first got the info (looking forward to Avengers almost as much as Prometheus).
Recently I saw an almost matching altered synopsis again so I'm very sure it was true, only now all mention of a start date has been left out.

@ Snork:
C'mon buddy, we all know that using the sun to slingshot us into time travel was used brilliantly in Star Trek: "Save the Whales"... just like you can spin the earth backward and magically reverse all the film in the projectors in movie theaters world-wide.

ReplyXenophobePrometheus ForumPrometheus Crew origin of the "Warning" Transmission in Alien?Feb 21, 2012
Hey Watkins! I can see why you think the signal could perhaps be the Prometheus crew. . . But I believe that IF it did originate from them, the crew must have transmitted it from a Space Jockey spaceship, as the signal needed translation via means of the Nostromo computer. I doubt it would've needed translation if the Promethus (a Humman vessel), transmitted it originally. Just a guess though. . . :)
ReplyGraphix67Prometheus ForumPrometheus Crew origin of the "Warning" Transmission in Alien?Feb 21, 2012
Just fleshing-out the reply from Xenophobe... I too agree that there is a solid possibility that the original "warning" picked up in ALIEN is from one of the Prometheus crew-members who sends it from the derelict. Our english language then gets filtered through the SJ technology and therefore comes out on the other end as a jumble of sounds picked up by the Nostromo years later. (As a side-note: In the original script, I believe it's Dallas that finds a button on the fossilized SJ chair and it's Dallas that simply turns off the distress signal.)
ReplyPOOPMETHEUSPrometheus ForumPrometheus Crew origin of the "Warning" Transmission in Alien?Feb 21, 2012
I really don't think the Prometheus crew are going to be the ones responsible for the signal. I'm getting a vibe that this film is not going to end where the original Alien picked up. Maybe the next film might though.
