Those images kick ass. If only we were seeing something truly alien like these images as opposed to a humanoid in a "suit". That whole "suit" concept has me deeply worried, and as a huge Alien fan of 33 years........disapointed. With CGI technology we could have really gone to town on a truly "alien" and bizzare race of creatures. Don't get me wrong, I hope the story really works and I will come out of the cinema with my mind blown, but.........

watched the meaning of life the other day and pissed myself, heres a film that must have caused some controversy almost 30 years ago, python and co are just having a laugh and anyone would be foolish to get upset over a movie..try making that film today - ha!

@Arctech, I agree with you completely. That little flashback in AVP explaining the reason why Predators breed Xeno, complete with an earnest voiceover explaining what is supposed to be visual storytelling, is cheesy, redundant, lazy, uninspired. It looks spectacular, the special fx and all, but the audiences kinda giggling at the whole video game feel to it. I hope PROMETHEUS doesn't make this kind of mistake.

Arctech your correct but if they could create a film about the Engineers without spoiling the mystery behind them that would be really neat. The idea sounds cheesy but if they could create a horror film out of that, that would be quite interesting. To clarify, no I would NOT want it to be like Avatar, Lord of The Rings etc. Just something weird, unique and ultimately terrifying. What are the Engineers? What are their intentions with the bio weapons they created such as the xenomorph? Did something go wrong in the process and how so? I don't look at it JUST as Space Jockey movie but a horror film that surrounds these creatures births and deaths in their own environment. What started all this horror without giving too much away. Create a film like that with few answers but a WHOLE LOT of questions. Spoiling the mystery would just ruin things ya know?

I agree with Tattooedkoi: why make statues of your uniform? And we know it's their uniform because Sir Ridley has already said it. I hate this picture for the reason Juxtapose has already stated. I don't even think this scene is even in the film, I believe it's merely a publicity shot if anything. I don't think we will see those suits up there like that in the film. I think those are just props that get used on that set, and once they've been used around the set, where are they going to put them? Well let's just store them upright in that corridor section, out of the way. Anyway that's just me trying to salvage what I can from this picture.

Got to be honest, dont like "the suits" never liked the "suit" conept anyway, I wanted the SJ in Alien to be a fossilised skeleton - i.e in Prometheus we would see them bad boys with FLESH!! The worst part of "the suit" is the feet. Completely non alien. Fan boy artwork creates way more alien designs. This image of the SJ has got me very nervous - lets be honest - The feet suck ass!

@'Walterhiller, Like I said I may be way off, this is pure speculation and only based on the scene where Shaw and Vickers are running away from the Derelict. Just makes me wander that possibly females are needed by the Engineers so not targeted as a threat, protected in some way.....

What if Vickers and Shaw are ALLOWED to "escape", with SJ knowing what's inside them or one of them. . .

I still think that in Prometheus we'll possibly find out that the xenomorphs were a SJ creation, that humans unwittingly interfered with which lead to them inheriting some human DNA in the process and this lead to a creature that wasn't suppose to exist in nature. . .

Lyle - bingo It could also mean that it won't be created again..... But that doesn't mean there aren't worse things.

@ArchEtech - True, this combination of human and xenomorph DNA will make that creature so deadly in my opinion. Also look at the Alien movie, the xeno clearly has some humanoid features i.e two arms, two legs, digits on it's hand and it stands as a bi-ped.

Wish their was a game code for that one too! LOL Space Tokeys have the best stuff of course. Been reading some interesting things on space dust...mind blowing! On top of that there are only 12 essential amino acid compounds needed to create life and there is like 120 or more abundantly floating around in space. God snorted some space dust then Sneezed! WOW, I didn't know Giger used Oprium! How inspiring...damn, should of known he was chasing dragons and stealing their eggs. If I found a Jinni in flying saucer and had 3 wishes, one would be to snork with that guy. His biomorphically mechanical universe fasinates me! It is my second wish that Prometheus takes us deeper into that rabbits hole. My third wish would be to snork free with Spartacus and also all the rest of all you snorks and my last: some Silvia Divinorum (which is a Herb, it so hard when you look like a Herb but are called a narcotic) at the last 20 minutes of the movie would certainly add a Mayan 2012 twist and change it from 3D to 8@. But that game code would probably be a better wish. I think I'm gona have to wish for more wishes or catch some UFOs. RUHs

Scott has mentioned a movie in the Blade Runner world, so he better do well on Prometheus, or else the interest in seeing that will be very low.

I'm wandering if the fossilised space jockey in Alien could be explained by the fact that the person in the chair is mutating. My thoughts are: 1. The character (who I belive is in the wheelchair scenes) mutates into the big blue guy, sits in the chair, but continues to mutate and appears to be fossilised into the chair. 2. Or the chair isn't designed to be used for extended periods, the Derelict crashes and the Engineer gets trapped into the chair, the technology starts to absorb him and he appears fossilised. 3. Once the derelict crashes a safety system is initiated and the ship seals vital components, thus the Engineer appears to be fossilised...... I'd welcome any thoughts on this, pure speculation as it is.............

you know not a bad idea it could be a human in the chair and becuase of mutatiom has become bigger and stronger and well jockier

it's probably a combination of a few things. more expensive material to produce the props. the original stuff looked like plaster or rubber. the new stuff might be fiber glass or resin. and the paintings and detailing definitely looks more skilled and intricate. keep in mind the derelict interior was a few decades old and the atmospheric conditions were different. film grain choices also produces a different look.

In my opinion: Aliens was my favorite film of them all. then as I got older, I realized how great Alien is. Two different type of films but great by themselves. Alien 3 was ok, but this is where it fell off for me. They killed off Newt and Hicks, and at the end killed off Ripley. I am not saying they sould not have killed her off but the way they did could have been different. Alien R was just trying to hard in my opinion. Parts were to goofy for me, and maybe not taken to seriously. Prometheus look like Ridley Scott is bringing credability back to the series or to a individual film or "prequel reboot". It does look epic to me and ready to see it already.

i've already forgotten the sequels even exist. if ridley scott wants to redo the whole deal, good for him. it's his original vision, he has the right to do it. lets hope the fanboys and studioheads will allow him.

@Ripley Clone 8, you mean you even liked the "new born" alien in Alien Ressurection? To me that murdered any hope that film had. In my opinion, the reason Alien is head and shoulders above the rest is primarily because of the alien itself: it was cerebral, self-assured, patient, strategic, and nastier than anything you can imagine when killing. Also it went through five people (including Kane), all on its own - granted the humans didn't really have weapons to fight back. Now Aliens is a fantastic movie no-doubt but you have to admit there is a level of dumbing down the alien. Gone is the divide-and-conquer ingenuity displayed by Ridley's alien. Instead we have drones that just come at you regardless. So just on that basis alone, I admire Alien more than Aliens. Alien 3 for me was a failed star. Contrary to most views, Ripley's death was perfect and the best part of that film. Because the series does need closure for it to held in high esteem (Chris Nolan has the right idea). Ripley descending into fire having just daughtered a queen alien was a sublime ending for me: end of a species and it's greatest adversary. Alien Resurrection.... the "new born" alien... need I say more? And AvP trash, well I thin we are all in agreement about those.

The only not stupid part of AVP 1/2 was the end of Requiem when Yutani are presented with Predator tech, indicating how that company became so technologically advanced. . .

i remember going to ALIENS in the Arches in glasgow before Alien 3 came out, was a bit of a laugh....and then, when i saw the movie i was just absolutely gutted that newt had died. this however set the tone of the film for me and gave it a realism and harshness that completley severed it from the normal holywood bs. Finchers debut was dark and desperate,but deeply rewarding in terms of character interest, i think while it may not be the best alien film it has earned its place. previous alien films still stand alone to this day. avp etc is just a bit of fun, and i watch whatever one im in the mood for!! new member enjoying the site and all the crazy theories!!! rgds chris

Alien has always been the BEST film ever!! Cameron's Aliens was the second best film ever, but I had a differing view of the Alien life cycle based upon the "extra footage" of alien that was not seen at the time of its original release. To keep true to Cameron's story line about a "queen" who lays the eggs I had imagined that the original Alien had taken Brett, mutated him into a "queen" egg, and was planning to take another crew member to be host for the queen. Since Dallas was also taken and being mutated I assumed this was so the queen could have two guards and/or mates (I have always thought of the original Alien as a "warrior" of the species). Had Parker not attacked then Lambert would have been the host for the queen. Having killed Parker and Lambert (leaving them for future sustenance perhaps?) then Ripley was the only viable host for the queen, hence the reason the Alien never attacked her, it only stalked an taunted. I imagine the Nostromo would have ended up like SJ's ship in the end; crashed on some planet with an Alien hive filled with eggs just waiting for an unsuspecting host to find it, had the Alien succeeded in catching Ripley (given too that only if she successfully disarmed Mother's destruct sequence). I agree that Alien 3 and Resurrection have a place in the storyline, however I despise the way the filmmakers "perverted" the look of a "perfect organism"! The original Alien was not covered in slime!!! His head, silvery/black and shaped like a mutated penis, was smooth and not slimy. Cameron also ruined the look of the Alien by changing the structure of the head and making the drones so "weak"! Aliens did not have the sadism of the original Alien, it was not very frightening at all, but it did give great action in the end with Ripley fighting the queen. In my mind Alien 3 and Resurrection were merely "dreams" Ripley was having while still in cryo-stasis on the Sulaco. I'm still waiting for someone to pick up the storyline there if there are to be future sequels. They can write off the aging of Ripley, Hicks, and Newt as defective cryo-chambers thanks to Burke. AVP and AVP-R SUCKED and never should have been made AT ALL!!! The Predator was a totally different species from a totally different universe and he should have stayed that way. I am dying to see where Ridley goes with Prometheus. From viewing the trailer (a million times now???) I get the feeling of Alien again and I wish he could release it early as I'm sure it would still be playing long into the summer and beyond!!! I would probably go see it every day (as I did with Alien)!!!!

I'm all for writing off Alien 3, Resurection and the horrificly bad AVP movies. Keep it tight and sweet - Prometheus, Alien, Aliens. Everything else never happened - It was all a bad hypersleep dream.

Fyi Ripley8... the Stones finally released Live in Texas 78... The greatest concert film of all time, that no one has seen. Those of us who are hardcore fans have been waiting for it for years.

@Starbeast Yeah, I loved the new born. I thought it was creepy and terrifying. It showed you how what the scientist did with all that genetic manipulation going on how it can fuck of the genetic makeup of the Aliens and how they breed. How the Alien Queen added a second breeding cycle was interesting. But yes I loved it. I honestly don't see how it necessarily ruined anything, if anything it added more to it.
