In the trailer at 32 sec we see a ship/shuttle entering the atmosphere of the planet (or moon) with a larger planet in the background with a rather close star behind it. Saturn's moon Titan has an atmosphere. It's also smaller then the Earth, bigger than the moon. As for the drastic environmental change... We have any of the space craft. Depending on speed, fuel, and/or mass any of the ships can change the planetoid into a rock... There is one other possibly as for why the planetoid is a rock when we find in Alien; Hades Protocols. The 'Engineers' could have foreseen the dangers of the biomass escaping and choose to sterilize the planet, killing all life, but the suit of the one in the ship protected the alien inside to burst out later.

In alien the crew says that the space jockey is fossilized which would mean it has been there for hundreds of thousands to millions of years which leads me to believe that it is not LV426. That would also explain why Ridley Scott said that it is not a prequel but instead takes place in the same universe. I'm hoping it isn't LV426 I think it would be much more interesting to see space jockeys somewhere else and it would also help to keep the ambiguity of what went wrong to the derelict craft in alien.

I tend to believe the space jockey went through [url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mummy]natural mummification[/url] in the 60 years or so between the end of Prometheus and the beginning of Alien as opposed to [url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fossilization]fossilization[/url] which usually require special conditions that don't seem to be present where the jockey is. The crew obviously didn't know anything about what they were looking at.

@Biomechanic The space Jockey was fused with the chair which is another sign of fossilization, also like I said earlier Captain Dallas states that it is fossilized. I suppose it's possible that the space jockey was grafted to the seat while alive and that Dallas observation was incorrect but it seems unlikely to me.

What if humans steal technology, impregnate sj with xeno, xeno bursts from sj chest, killing it, causing ship to crash on lv426, therefore humans becomes creators of xeno, which happens in last 8 min which is link to alien????

The ship crashes, killing what's left of prometheus crew, all weyland yutani receives is transmission we hear in preview, so entire mission is lost and compnay doesn't know where ship is, fast foward to alien where company receives info about possible location of ship and planet and sends nostromo there to retreive alien which they already know they created and know is there

I know this much, If Ridley saw anything, noticed anything at all that the studios did not want to pay for but he still thought needed fixing, he'd pay for it completely out of his own pocket, no questions asked. He is a Man of above all else...Severely High professional standards and integrity.

it looks like a fossilized skull and lacks the padded look of the jockey helmet(with thick orbitals). and the reason it looks wide is probably because the space jockeys are large creatures. some of my doubts are absolved.

Lets compare the two... Suggests to me that Space Jockeys are in fact an alien race.

it was the 1st leaked cam version of the teaser trailer, some where in these boards and posts I said it looks like two eye holes and is either a space helmet or an engineers head !!! or something like that. I just can't believe it really is that, and Ridley is having such massive BALLS to do all these new things and get everyone's minds jumping just like they are !!! Believe me, he knew exactly what he was doing...and even better...as someone said first..."he's even invented a new art from, the Trailer For The Trailer" !!! I am just so fucking impressed with this 70+ year old hero of mine more so than ever now and and after all these years of loving Alien and the franchise itself, of holding the prototype doll in my hands and my dad saying, "Trust me son, this is going to be huge"...and 33 years later here we are and the best is just around the corner... In the recent Filmophelia article, Ridley states clearly he sees the fossilised Jockey image from Alien as a suit, whether it's fused to him or not (probably the former). I'm not convinced we've seen the actual Jockey yet though...a someone has already pointed, why would they reveal that in the first trailer if at all? I think the humanoid is the "Igor" to the Jockey's "Prof. Frankenstein", and all the more interesting potentially.

I watched Resurrection last week, to revisit it, to get in the mood for Prometheus. I agree with the person who said never mention that film on this site. It is BAD, real BAD, the cinematography is appaling, the script infantile, the characters? who cares!!! No character development or arc whatsoever. It is not worthy of the franchise at all. Like Scott mentioned, its films such as this which have brought the franchise way down. Alien is a masterpiece, Aliens is an awesome action packed rollercoaster sequel. After that it all goes way down hill. Alien 3 - The story is terrible, I mean come on they started filming and didn't even have a script and boy does it show. Fincher has washed his hands of his involvment with this debacle also. the fall from grace begins with Alien 3. Hopefully Prometheus will get the franchise back on track.

the problem with these theories is they disregard facts from alien. think of it from scott's point of view. would he retcon his own work? i dare say he's one of the more intelligent directors and would have the ability and integrity to stay consistent. for example, if the alien acid contained genetic material, wouldn't they have sampled it, diluted it and discovered it? furthermore, can genetic material even survive in acid that burns through several stories of metal architecture? thirdly, how good can an acid of such concentration be useful as a gene delivery system? these are all things from the first alien film.

I don't think the alien acid (its blood) is the same as the "acid" in the trailer. In the trailer, that substance behaves as an acid, but im thinking it's more along the lines of a genetic material, where it doesn't eat through you (well, maybe a little lol) but its more like a delivery method of dna or information. I think the dna "acid" is what's in the urns.
