Alien: Covenant will take place 10 years after the events of Prometheus!

10 years is i feel a bit to early..... i suppose it depends how they are going with this movie, but a new suit design could mean the Covenant would be a newer design?  But hopefully it would be a older design but who knows.

I think the main thing we need to look at is the distance to Paradise or where ever David was going, and we can safely assume Engineer Ships can make the journey faster than Prometheus did to Earth so we should see some timeframe from when David and Shaw get to Paradise, then some event to occur and then for the Covenant to come along some years latter.  If we assume David to be waiting on Paradise after the events of when they land for say 2-5 years that would leave a journey time of 2-5 years to get there and for Hell to break Loose!

I would assume maybe the Covenant can travel as fast as the Nostramo which was first used in the year 2101 so 7 years after Prometheus.....  the Nostramo would travel nearly 47X Speed of light so if we assume the Covenant has similar speeds then it could travel within 5 years a distance of 234 LY but this is all assumption and we dont know how fast the ship would travel or when it departed Earths Solar System or how far away Paradise is.

But i do think that a story that shows the Covenant setting off at some time period to find a World that is surveyed to be Earth Like but when they get to this World,  David has since landed and caused Hell on Paradise.

I think that Paradise could be very, very far away, and it also might have taken the company a few years to piece together where Shaw and David were going.  Launching a new mission from Earth is costly and might delay things even more, so the colony ship Covenant is diverted from its current assignment in the colonies and sent to Paradise.  Some of the investors were mad about the secretive Prometheus project's failure:  it already cost trillions just to return to LV-223 and learn a few things..  A deal is made between Weyland corp and a Yutani representative not to inform the crewmembers why they're setting up the new colony on Paradise.

So...Is there another David on the Covenant? Is this David newer or older? David 8 Mark IV(or something)?

10 Years is more than enough time for LV-223 to be visited or settled...maybe a colony has started.
