BREAKING NEWS: A new Predator movie is currently in development at the new Disney-owned 20th Century Studios! Not only that, Deadline is reporting that 10 Cloverfield Lane director Dan Trachtenberg has been hired on to helm the new movie! With this exciting announcement, we have to wonder - is a new Alien movie in the pipeline as well?

The new Predator movie will reportedly not be a sequel to Shane Black's recent The Predator and will likely explore a completely new plot line separate to the established film chronology. However, at this point we know little about the details of this new Predator movie besides who will be directing it.

10 Cloverfield Lane surpassed expectations and created a remarkably chilling and uncomfortable sci-fi atmosphere. We can only hope Trachtenberg brings the same atmosphere to this latest project.

Previous to this announcement the last we heard about a new Alien movie was that Ridley Scott said a new film was in the works at Disney, but would likely veer away from the Prometheus angle he established. With a new Predator movie announced, we hope Alien isn't far behind!

Let us know what you think of this news and who you want to star in this new Predator movie by sounding off in the comments!

Your rumor sounds more exciting than a new Predator movie. I hope it happens.

"The Predator" truly was a rotten and uninspired movie. Let's hope this new one brings things back on track. He doesn't have a large track record, but I liked 10 Cloverfield Lane. That movie was more about suspense, whereas a Predator movie needs a lot more action. If nothing else it will be a litmus test to see how squeamish Disney will be when it comes to a blood shocker.

Well there was Potential with  the PLOT of The Predator but its Damaged by some of the Revelations inc Technology and Especially the Pred-Killer suit.

Its a case of WHAT do they do NEXT?

A kind of Reboot! thats always the LAZY COP OUT!

I think they are BEST to go and Explore the Future as Eventually we will go and Discover Worlds for ourselves and HOW would the Predators feel if we ROCK UP at one of their Hunting Grounds?

So maybe a Time-line of 2075-2175 could be the way to go?

That would probably depend on how good the Predator-movie does. As far as the Predator-movie it depends, they could do a spin-off, so they don't need to worry about continuity and the time-line. Making a movie that is independent of the official time-line is what I would go for if I was the owner of the franchise.
