With so much uncertainty surrounding the next Alien project Disney plan to pursue and with no concrete direction being suggested by official channels, we are left to grasp at any possible and probably leads. Although we learned recently that before Disney acquired Fox, that studio executive Emma Watts had shut down attempts by FX to create an Alien TV series, there is still a possibility that Disney will revive the project and adapt it for their upcoming Disney Plus streaming service. Of course, there is so much uncertainty currently, but a recent interview with Prometheus / Alien: Covenant concept artist Carlos Huante suggests the TV pilot might still be in production...
Speaking to HN Entertainment, Carlos discussed his work on Alien and if he has any insider knowledge regarding the future of the franchise now that it's positioned at Disney. Huante speaks fairly candidly and admits:
I have no idea where it’s going anymore. I think they’re doing a TV show or something right now. Nobody has called me about that even though I have no confidence that TV could pull something like that off I’d still like to work on it because that world is a fun place to play around in.
Suffice to say, not even Carlos seems to be in the loop as to where Alien is going next, but he seems to think a TV series is likely, despite his doubts that a TV series would be the right direction Alien should take. This could be due to all the news regarding the possibility that's been posted all over the web these past few months, but it's hard to say.
Are you with Carlos on this one? Is a TV series a bad idea? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
