Production is underway for Ridley Scott's highly anticipated Prometheus sequel, Alien: Covenant. With filming set to begin next month, production crews are finishing up most of the practical prep work required for the film's first few months of shooting. One of the film's actors, Demian Bichir recently shared a photo of himself being fitted with a facial mold for Alien: Covenant to his personal Instagram account. By the looks of things so far, we can assume three possibilities for what Demian's role will be in the Prometheus sequel:
An Engineer - The actors who portrayed Engineers in Prometheus also were fitted with molds to accent muscular body parts and enlarge the skull.
An Android - Looking at this mold (below) the first thought that came to mind was Ash, from Alien, when his disembodied head is lying on the table. It's possible Demian could play another Android. The only possible contradiction to this possible character role is that Michael Fassbender will be playing two "Davids" in the film. This would suggest that David is the current Synthetic model of the time and thus, Demian would represent a different model. To argue this point, it is also possible that if Demian is an Android, it is possible he could be from a different company - Yutani, perhaps? - Who acts as a mole on the Covenant mission to feed info back to Yutani, under the nose of their competitors at Weyland Corp. Remember, the two companies have not yet merged as far as we know.
None of the above - It's also possible this mold could be a fitting for a brutal, practical effects death scene. If this is the case (mild spoiler) we can expect Demian to meet his demise in a very horrible way - similar to his fate in The Hateful Eight, for those who have seen that film as well.
Regardless of his role, it's exciting to see production on Alien: Covenant being shared with the fan base. As more details make their way online, we'll be sure to keep you posted!
