Alien: Covenant may not have been the box office smash hit we were all hoping it would be, but the film still brought a lot of talent to the big screen and gave us Prometheus fans a taste of what we had been craving more of since 2012. One of the more fascinating aspects of Alien: Covenant was the affect the Black Goo Engineer pathogen had on the local ecosystem when unleashed by David upon arriving at Paradise. During Covenant's marketing run, a few pieces of artwork created by concept artists Dane Hallett and Matt Hatton were used, but unfortunately not realized digitally on-film.
We reported on some of these works back in June, but most recently Dane Hallett has taken to Facebook via his artist page to query fans on whether or not pursing an art book to better chronicle his works would be something worth considering:
Would anyone be interested in a whole book of these micro organisms?... Depending on how popular these kinds of posts are, well - you know where I'm going with this...
Of course, we're completely supportive of the idea and hope he does pursue such a project, because although Fox did release an official Alien: Covenant art book of their own, many incredible concepts created for Covenant were not included.
So, if you're a fan of Dane's work and would like to see more of his micro organisms and other creations he conceptualized for Alien: Covenant, be sure to like his artist page on Facebook and let him know!
To top this post off, here's a spectacular piece of unofficial artwork Dane shared not too long ago, this time of the Runner Xenomorph from Alien 3:
