MemberOvomorph12/29/2011Am I the only one who does not like this idea?
I think it could ruin the whole franchise. That to see the xeno's as possibly their children, or their evolution is greatly influenced by them - one of them being a mere crewman. The essence of them would be seen and felt in every alien film (i.e. whenever I'll see an alien now, I'll see Shaw and Holloway).
As perverted as it sounds, I think the sex between Shaw and Holloway (unfortunately) will be the turning point in the story. I can't even see the attraction anyway but this doesn't matter as it's been said.
If Shaw births a hugger, egg or whatever, it'll have an influence in paving way to the beginning of the alien race. I do not like this idea, even if it might be engineered by the Engineers/SJs etc.
I don't like the idea of the alien being partially a product of man - or should i say between this swede and american. I wouldn't mind if the pregnancy turns out to be some miscarriage or failed experiment.
Besides, at the end of the film Shaw is running from the derelict - i.e. healthy enough to run. And such ideas would make Holloway an equally important character but he's not ranked high when looking at cast lists. Let's just hope the consequences of the pregnancy is merely to hurt the crew and not turn into something greater like starting the alien race - otherwise Ridley has done more than just tampered and interfered with Alien (he would have completely ruined the mystery to it all and being that it's my favourite film, I can never enjoy it the same way again).
edit: I'll be honest. This is only just a film, mere entertainment, not even fact. But it greatly bothers me because Alien is my favourite film, and being a scifi fan, can never see certain things the same way again. That this sex could have such huge consequences (spawning a superior unstoppable race). It'll also cheapen everything given that these are two 'pretty' actors according to western film standards.

MemberOvomorph12/29/2011We need to stay with what Scott has been saying from day one. NOT A PREQUEL but in the same universe as Alien and some tie in in the last eight minutes. Let that guide us. He doesn't bullshit.
Nobody is going to give berth to a facehugger or anything resembling it. Possibly an egg of some sort.
Lots of surprises none of us can imagine and unrelated to Alien.
Leading to a new story and a sequel based on more unanswered questions going in an entirely different direction to Alien

MemberOvomorph12/29/2011If AVP is considered in this "Universe" then Xenos already exist before prometheus and have been on earth. This movie would have to have timetravel to explain them having humans origins ie born from Shaw.

MemberOvomorph12/29/2011Even if it's an 'egg' or strand of DNA that could lead to the creation of the alien race, Shaw and Holloway would be deemed as their gods, their 'Adam' and 'Eve' so to speak. Even if it was against their will (i.e. driven by the infection), I do not like to see this happen for reasons stated in original post.
What does interest me is the 'mythology'.
I hope that while many regard it as a 'prequel', it's merely a story happening elsewhere in the alien world that does not have direct influence in how we see the alien and its race. The SJ and derelict, I'm not too bothered about.
Either way, by the time this film is out there, all the mysteries that made Alien great and powerful will be gone, and the film itself can never be enjoyed the same way again (we'd be thinking, 'oh that Holloway's and Shaw's creation, their baby' etc).
The wait until release can be painful as I want my questions and worries answered. I really need to get over it and see there's more to life than some silly film. GRRR!!
(thank god i still have my love of star trek which remains untarnished!)
