MemberOvomorphMar-02-2012 2:22 PMIf you had to chose to either be in the "Alien" situation where you have a hand full of co workers on a space craft that has limited capabilities (in terms of offense, defense, and fortification), or would you rather be in the "Aliens" situation where youre stranded on a planet with a hand full of remaining Colonial Marines, a fair bit of weaponry, and a whole bunch of E.Ts that wanna say hi instead of just one.
Which would you rather prefer if you had to chose and why?

MemberOvomorphMar-02-2012 2:24 PMIll Start, Id like to be in the "Aliens" situation or scenario. To me it just seems more fun, ya get to kill things, fortify and barricade yourself in places and, i mean, youll die yeah but... We're all gunna die any way right? Its all about the way ya go so why not have a little fun ya know? At least thats how I feel

MemberTrilobiteMar-02-2012 2:29 PMAlien, but I would have used the mentality they used in Alien 3 to push the thing to the nearest airlock and then whoosh, bye bye alien. Go home and blackmail W-Y with special order 937 and retire to my own little colony LOL

MemberOvomorphMar-02-2012 2:36 PMI hadnt thought of that, thats actually pretty smart lol. Id still prefer to go down in a blaze of glory tho just seems like itd be worth it. I mean, what else are ya gunna have to shoot at?

MemberOvomorphMar-02-2012 2:38 PMPersonally I choose neither. The xenomorph has proven to be a versatile life-form, and I believe that even if you're in a ship orbiting the planet, you're still in a gigantic risk.
The "versatility" of the alien is especially true of the Queen. However there are some exceptions to it; the Queen will come after you if you kill her brood, because once she loses her children, she'll stop at nothing to satiate her revenge, and you won't even see it coming. For all I know you could arrive safe at your house and before you know it she'll be there to eat your face off.
Though I will say that the Aliens scenario would be more fun; I will die before I get a chance, but at least I'll get to have some guns to play with. (:

MemberOvomorphMar-02-2012 5:07 PMIf you take a very hard headed look at the 2 films you could argue the Alien gives you better chance fo survival.
The xenos is Alens are actively seeking out prey once they know the Marines are there. Where as in Alien I never actually felt that the xeno was doing this, it could actually be argued that it simply feels the need to defend itself against a large group of aliens who are trying to hunt it down and kill it?
The crew of the Nostromo go into panic mode (as a collective) and decide to go on the offensive, it is worth considering what may have happened if they had simply stuck together in one place with plenty of food and set course for home? The xeno looks like it has a short life span in that movie and I actually feel it is dying when Ripley discovers it in the shuttle. The deleted scene with the eggs suggest that more xenos could have been created but we dont know for sure, was it simply acting on instinct and cocooning for the sake of it or trying to re produce?
I reckon that if the crew had sat tight (and of course chucked Ash out of an airlock) they may have survived.

MemberOvomorphMar-02-2012 5:38 PMSnorky, wasn't that what they were trying to do in 'Alien'?...force it toward the airlock.
I'd choose 'Alien', 'Aliens' has too much goin' on too many variables....

MemberOvomorphMar-02-2012 6:42 PMbetween these 2 nightmare scenarios...
i'd choose to be in ALIEN, not only for the fact that film (i feel) is far
superior, but also for the fact, that in spite of having SO MUCH fire power,
and solider power at their disposal, they still got their asses handed to them
on a plate, so it would have to be ALIEN for me, given the fact the odds of
surviving would be a bit better i feel
then again, if i were to wake up in that world, in that setting, completely
unaware of what to expect, i suppose i'd be either jettisoned in a body bag
Caine style, or i'd end up alongside Brett and Dallas stuck to the underside
of the Nostromo's landing gear
EEEEEKS...!

MemberOvomorphMar-02-2012 10:32 PMI'd go with the Aliens scenerio. The Nostromo's shuttle only took one and I wouldn't know how to pilot it anyway.
Of course I'd have no chance being the last survivor on Hadley's Hope either but at least I might be able to save a bullet for myself.

MemberOvomorphMar-02-2012 11:12 PMDefinately Alien. At least I could lock myself in the porn cabin and batt off during my final hours. I would feel wierd doing that in a room full of soldiers even if I was firing a gun at the same time.

And I'm sure the Alien would look at you funny if you were beating off, because the alien in Alien gave off more sexual undertones whereas the aliens in Aliens were basically instinct-driven animals (despite some advancements here and there). Not saying the alien in Alien wouldn't kill you anyway.

F--- it - lets go for it!
MemberOvomorphMar-03-2012 12:41 AMdefo alien scenario, i'd bide my time watching fellow crew members being taken and realising my fate would settle for a spot on the narcissus, preferably in the space suit clausit so when ripley enters i will enjoy my last few moments whilst (to use convict dillons words) taking care of her.

MemberOvomorphMar-04-2012 12:38 PMI guess I would prefer to be in Alien 3 assembly cut, they captured it at least. Crazy ol Gollic let it out though. I always thought Gollic's dragon worship was a great concept and I would have liked to see more of that, like the alien using him as bait instead of outright killing him. Gollic walks down the hallway drunk with insane revelations about his dragon while the alien follows him in the shadows and when the rest of the cast finds Gollic and tries to restrain him the alien attacks with Gollic watching with fascination. Gollic follows the beast to the hive it is constructing falls to his knees worshiping it and is promptly killed since he has served his purpose and is of no more use. I know I went off topic but sometimes I just gotta write it down lol

MemberOvomorphMar-04-2012 7:38 PMI would have to choose the Aliens scenario. An Alien scenario would be to easy in my opinion. I would want to stand next to my fellow brothers in arms and fight to my last breath, whether it be standing back to back making our last stand or working together to escape.

MemberOvomorphMar-04-2012 8:35 PMAlien would be the better scenario for me. Dallas was easily manipulated by the rest of his crew. He was a wash out, and pretty much open to any suggestion. I might have had to hit Ash over the head with a blunt object and discovered he was an android a lot earlier. I know for one thing I would not have let him deter me from examining Kane in that med lab as he did when Ripley wanted to see what he was looking at through the microscope. To satisfy Ripley's foiled attempt at quarantine I would have put Kane in the airlock for observation, Then after he woke up, in the Narcissus for 24 hours. We live in the 21st century, we are fully aware of how rapidly potential biohazards can spread out of control. I know it would have made for a very short film, but Ash be damned there would have been only one casualty onboard the Nostromo, I don't count Ash because he was a synthetic with a hidden agenda. The question being, if he informed the company that we had the Xenomorph isolated in the shuttlecraft, would he have found a way to release it into the Nostromo? Just how deep down the rabbit hole did his directives go...

MemberOvomorphMar-06-2012 7:17 PMAlien over Aliens hands down. Aliens, if you think about it, is unrealistic and requires the sort of suspension of disbelief and "dumb luck" that no one ever has ... except in movies. Your chances in Alien are phenomenally better for survival just by getting the hell out of there.

MemberOvomorphMar-07-2012 9:34 AMI prefer the scenario in Alien, but trying to stick together. 6 vs 1 in a well known environment would mean more chances than few soldiers well armed but outrageously outnumbered in an unknown place.
But honestly, I'd rather be Jonesy in Aliens. He's the real winner.
Ridley Scott will eventually tell us how the Queen was born.
Right now we have the Deacon; coming soon the Mercury, the May and the Taylor.

skyguy1054
MemberOvomorphMar-08-2012 3:03 PMYeah, but nobody checked out Jones. I still think whomever adopted him, after Ripley left Gateway Station, had a little surprise in store.

Spartacus
MemberOvomorphMar-08-2012 3:09 PMIf I am allowed to base my choice on what we know today, I would take the first scenerio knowing The Lone Xeno would die witin 4 days on it's own anyways and just hide out witha nice bottle of Chablis, a decent BBQ Pit, and a good screenplay to read or a pen and some paper so I could try to write one myself.

MemberOvomorphMar-22-2012 4:26 PMFor me it would have to be Aliens. For no other reason than I'd get fire a pulse rifle and smart gun
