I would like to hear more talk on why the planet LV-462 looks so much different in alien compared to prometheus? Im sure its safe to say it IS the same planet from alien because of the crashed ship. Maybe the dust cloud we see in the trailer has something to do with the change in atmosphere.. would be cool to hear more

The planet in Prometheus cannot be LV-426! Van Lewen said in Aliens that LV-426 was an unsurveyed world at the time Ripley & Co arrived. And I for one believe him! Case closed!!

Company cover up, the SJs were in the middle of terraforming and after the human interruption things went south.

My original theory is that some horrible disaster set of by the derelict caused the actual crust of the planet to get blown off, then the mantle would explode out hitting space and cooling instantly, causing the strange lave formations me see in alien in aliens, and then the old atmosphere and all the dust from the past crust get pulled back, making the new very dark atmosphere. and as much as i think this sounds awesome, and if done right would make one hell of a scene, there is one gaping plot hole with it, how is the derelict still okay?

See the topic, earlier, about LV-426 mutating. But don't tell Gocustard you looked at it

@Preston yes it most certainly is, everything matches up perfectly with lv426, and if it wasn't lv426 then there is no point in making this a prequel to alien, change the ship design and take away the space jockey for a different alien.

@ukalien Sorry dude I don't know how to insert links. But the topic is easily recognisable - very long title, should be on same page as current topics, or one page backwards. Onlu topic title which mentions LV-426 mutating

@Ross You'd seriously believe a Company suit!?! He's basically from the same corporation as Ash and Burke!

@Ross your going to believe a guy from the company? just!!!!!!!! mjsdygcrbskjdgvykjhcj hbfa kerjfgvkhGSRVBGFjhB gjmfv nJHABZSKJGVBJHSDGBV!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! why?!?!?!? it is very apparent that they lie!!!! LIE!!!!!!! to cover up what happened and to get there hands on the alien!!!! and if it was an unsurveyed world then how did the company know about the ship?!?!?!?! sorry for being kind of mean, but any mention of it not being lv426 just kind of bothers me...... it should be the only fact really.

Dropyourlinen (nice name btw) my sarcasm is clearly lost on you! Obviously a cover-up. Prob someone of Van Lewen's pay grade would not have access to the truth though!! So he prob wasn't necessarily lying but the company was lying to Ripley through him.

@Ross, That was the company talking man. They were lieing. Considering that they worked for "The Company". It wouldn't make any sense to believe their bull. Plus you figure out that the Company was lieing to the Nostromo crew in ALIEN. Saying that the crews priority's were secondary to the Xenomorph and then MUTHUR saying, "Crew Expendable." The Company wants the Xenomorph for the bio-weapons division. Ripley emphasizes this many times throughout the series. Mainly in Alien 3. The Company would never let anybody interfere with their plans to subdue and capture the Xenomorph. Coporate Greed. Pretty nasty stuff.

There are people here who get really angry if you even suggest Prometheus is set on LV-426. I for one believe it's got to be. However, I am willing to admit there are obstacles to this theory: -different landscape and atmosphere -'daylight' - clear daylight here in the trailer, yet in Alien, even when the sun comes up, the sky is black -steam vents I personally believe the planet underogoes some kind of cataclysmic change. I could, however, be 'sooooooo wrong'..

The planet in Prometheus is not LV-426. Lindelof stated in an interview that a prequel are events that lead up to the beginning of the first story. Prometheus is not this. Although Prometheus happens a few years before Alien, the story line has followed a completely different path and away from Alien. Prometheus will not end where Alien begins. We're fooled by the images of the "derelict" ship crashing on the planet, but this is not the same ship from Alien! It is the same TYPE of ship, but not THE ship from Alien. This movie will develop a whole new mythos in the Alien universe! Very fun, very exciting indeed!! Think of all the new monsters that can be introduced from Giger's mind! Ooops, I wet myself.

"Van Lewen said in Aliens that LV-426 was an unsurveyed world at the time Ripley & Co arrived." Do we really think Weyland would have told anyone if they had surveyed LV-426? That colony was placed there with the intent that they would "accidentally" stumble upon the Aliens and therefore Weyland-Yutani had hosts to birth the ones they wanted. They knew what was going on there LONG before ALIENS as I'm sure the Prometheus story will validate.

when it is lv-426, a possibility is that after the events of Prometheus the terraforming project just suddenly stops ( SJ are dead) and the whole planet decays.. till the Nostromo arrives..

@Galaxy Dave then how do you explain the fact that it is orbiting the same planet as in alien? and like i said, if it isn't a true prequel to alien, then why use the same imagery like the derelict and space jockey? why not just make a whole new movie with its own universe instead of nailing it to alien? if it is a different ship and does not explain anything to the back story of alien, then i will be pissed off that they used stuff from alien without doing anything with it.
