MemberOvomorphApr-06-2012 6:38 AMI enjoy all the plot ideas here but think we are being too literal with some of the things we see in the trailers. For example, a king has his reign and then he dies doesn’t mean we’ll encounter a king. It could be a referral to a species being dominant one day and history the next. The phrase is like saying every dog has his day, or 15 minutes of fame.
Because the movie is called Prometheus doesn’t mean that it’s based on ancient Greek mythology any more than Red Dwarf features small red people.
Also, RS has gone to great lengths to distance himself from Aliens 3 and 4 because of their silly plot lines, even so far as to have them ruled non cannon. I would be surprised if after declaring a movie about alien cloning (ie resurrection) as fan fiction if he goes down the route of time travel, ancient atlanteans, Weyland being an SJ, androids evolving in to xenos etc.
I’m not dissing the theories that are posted as they make great reading but I think they are wide of the mark. I think the movie will be set within believable realistic parameters that all audiences, particular the older generation like me who grew up with the film will believe and not on a way out there sci-fi premise.
Having said that, with my luck the I will be completely wrong and the film will be about an ancient time travelling xenomorph from Atlantis called Prometheus who becomes lost in time following a time travel experiment, temporarily taking the places of other people to put right what once went wrong and hoping that each leap will be the leap home.

For all we know, there was a "blueprint" for something that could have been nothing more that a "SOLDIER" version of something if one wants to explore the HIVE idea?
But, I really see the Xeno as the completely UNINTENDED consequence of unforseen events.. IE.... People showing up in a place they were NOT intended to be.
There may very well have been a proto-Xeno whos purpose was not yet clear yet, but for all we know.... It could have been a tarantula sized "termite".

MemberOvomorphApr-06-2012 9:08 AMas for the xeno you are referring to in the trailer it is clearly 100% possible that it is an image taken near or at the end of this film in which this monster has already developed, could even be the same one that the crew is struggling with earlier on, and their is absolutely no proof that it is not, not that I believe it is, you could be right and it cold turn out that the entire XENO idea will have nothing to do with this thing, but as I have said many many times, that would be Naive IMO, and what Ridley said was "Gosh No"...that it was a "TIRED OLD FORM", and that "We go Forward in this thing Not backwards" but he never once ruled it out of the storyline at all.

Your idea is very interesting. It's something I haven't considered as a possibility in the film.
I remember in two of the scenes I saw some bodies lying around in those caves. It looks as though there might have been a confrontation perhaps. I don't think they died of starvation. Perhaps they were at odds with the space jockeys.

If the xeno doesn't appear in the film, my hope is that the film will at least shed some light on the connection between the sj and the xeno. Like where did the xeno come from? Was it created by the SJ? Why would it be on an SJ ship? I hope the film will give answers or at least some hints.

MemberTrilobiteApr-06-2012 9:19 AMI for one am against this whole idea of proto this and proto that, this all started thanks to a leaked FAKE script, same with the bio-former idea.
I personally do not see Ridley returning to this universe just to do what has already been done, instead of doing what he has always said he wanted to do, which was explore the SJ's.

MemberOvomorphApr-06-2012 9:19 AMalso there is zero evidence if you ask me that the Xeno bloodline contains SJ or Engineer DNA...I say the XENO, is in fact a BIOLOGICAL TERRA-FORMING WEAPON CREATED AT WILL BY The Engineers and who's genetic encoding can be contained in one of the Engineer's vials.
My problem Snorky is your ideas are sometimes so damn fantastic I love them and start thinking they are part of this thing, it is hard for me to stick to my guns and up to you and say wait a second what about all this....?
I agree to dissagree with your take... respectfully... I think that thing on board [i]is what eventually develops into the first Xenomorph[/i] as far as Mankind goes.
Exactly what it is, and that it is naive to think otherwise at this point.
Would just make no sense after the eventsin Alien that it turned out to be something else entirely.

MemberOvomorphApr-06-2012 9:21 AM@ Spartacus - Actually youre wrong. Aliens: Colonial Marines takes place ON LOCATION of Aliens BUT during the TIME LINE of Alien 3, so they are using direct tie-ins to that movie also.

The worm(which was taken out before it fully developed) is a premature chest buster.
The squid could be a premature face hugger?
The bigger thing could be the middle stage of a xeno, seeing as weve never seen how they grow from a chest buster all the way to a fully grown xeno.
This is just one of my guesses and Im most likely completely wrong as I havent thought this through.
Actually, I wont be surprised if we dont we ANY "alien DNA" and like someones else said, if Ridley gives us something original, BRILLIANT! Im all for that too!

And also, after the xenos have wiped everything out, the space jockeys will then have to wipe the xenos out! But like you said, maybe Ridley can prove us wrong.

question for you: Why do you suppose the Derelict is Trying to Leave Lv-426 for Earth and Do you not suspect that the Engineers have made a decision to TERRAFORM IT? That this is Why??? And what do you do you suppose their means are with which to Terrafrom Earth? Has Ridley Himself not stated over and over and over that the Xenomorph is a Biological Weapon Created By The Race Of Space Jockeys to Terraform Other Planetoids? That their Eggs are a form of dropship cargo???

This is why that concept always ends up falling flat for me. Its just like a completely lame idea that has been done poorly in a million b-grade slock sci-fi yarns.
Seriously, we are talking about beings that have literally harnessed the POWER TO CREATE and manipulate life down to the MOLECULAR level!! and they have mapped the ENTIRE UNIVERSE and have been travelling to all these places for thousands of milenia it appears.
If they wanted to wipe out life on a planetary scale, they could do it in a million more simpler ways.. They surely would have the knowledge to create a virus or contagion that could simply be dispersed.
Why would beings of THIS KIND OF POWER have any need to create a race of BIG BUGS ((for lack of a better description)) that need to have 1 LIVING HOST (that is almost their same height size!!!!) for every 1 of them they wanted to create. Surely a HIVE species that simply emerges straight from EGG to nearly fully formed adult is more desirable is it not??
Sorry... It just doesnt jive as being a "planetary bioweapon". More like a junk yard "guard dog".. or "local enforcer"

I've always seen them as just another species that rose to sentience long before the core stellar mass had stopped forming. They may have been first, but I suspect they were not the only cards in the deck. As evidenced in the trailer something happened to that world, it's lifeless. There are signs that something chaotic occurred resulting in those piles of bodies/suits. The mystery is the face, and I don't call it human since that is a TERRESTRIAL referrance, if it depicts the creators it's whatever they call themselves. I only use the word Mala'kak because it's part of the CULTURE and CANON. Since it's Ridley's film I'll have to accept whatever he lays out, willingly, or begrudgingly.

How does the elminating an "old child" with a new favoured child jive with "TERRAFORMING" a planet.
How exactly are 8ft tall Xenomorph bugs terraforming a planets atmosphere.
I can accept that a Xenomorph is a sort of a weaponized biosoldier that is programmed to say eliminate a specifc lifeform that maybe the "Overlords" have deemed to need a correction of sorts, but just how are they TERRAFORMING??

And it also fits beautifully with the "AA" theory, which I remind people is a Theory, Von Daniken never said it was all a FACT, just that these were his Theories. In this same way I agree and accept whatever Ridley lays out for us in the film.

But I am also beginning to believe they were created to eradicate us, and the other firstborn that the SJ's created before they were superseded by one of their firstborn
GS - Firstly the term Mala'kak is not canon, it comes from the comics, which aren't canon. My reference to the SJ's creating the universe wasn't meant to be taken literally. They were most likely one of, if not the, first sentient races that sowed the seeds of life throughout the universe. But in time were superseded by one of their creations.
Angry they created a second batch of children, specifically designed to eradicate the firstborn children and were imprisoned. Then along we come and open the jail cell, unaware of the events that have transpired, thinking we are greeting a kind god only to unleash an angry, wrathful god and its new batch of children designed to eradicate us and the other firstborn children.

This would be the initial purpose of any Biomechanical Weaponized creature such as a Xenomorph.
It's entire design seems created with this sole purpose in mind.

It may be completely logical and sensible to them. They don't have to be more efficient than us in everything, just in enough ways (in relation to their world) to make them overall more advanced than we are.

MemberOvomorphApr-06-2012 10:14 AMMaybe wipe out the general population with a virus or with deadly microbes (such as the ones that infect the crew in Prometheus), and use the xenos to get rid of the remaining survivors hiding in holes. They're there for clean up.
