we do not know that the Jockeys had a bloody thing to do with ANY of those artifacts, that whole thing could even be a PLOY by the TED company to begin with to get more guenny pigs into space and do their bidding for them. It is inf act still the same old "Greedy" corporation that The Good Dr. spouted of in Alien Resurrection, and it's now even farther back in time when it was more likely to be even far more sinister in it's intentions. and another thing, not one of those tablets shows anything similar looking to a Space Jockey, we don't even know what a Space Jockey even looks like yet, and neither do they when they suddenly all of the sudden on earth find tablets we have all missed for the last g0d knows how many hundreds or thousands of years...I think that whole meeting over the tablets in the trailers is yet another example of The Company's sinister agenda to acquire a TERRA-FORMING WEAPON and lying to get "expendables" to do their bidding for them and their intentions. !!!

Amber, not so much a literal God being, but a flaw in the intelligent design from the engineers that pushes their creations to become God themselves. That they are created in God's own image, and therefore are of, or like God. These posts are all just Saturday morning conjecture by me and nothing else...

We may find out the truth soon enough but what could be the reasons and who is to say they want to wipe us out? They may just want to use us as hosts. I would find it strange that they want to wipe us out just for the sakes of it but wait till we get there, why? Surely they could wipe us out before then. So here are some reasons i think it could be... 1) The Engineers left clues for us, so that we would one day go to their world, as a trap. They need mankind for some purpose to further their own agenda. But why wait so long? a) Did they need us to evolve to the level to be able to venture into space? b) Maybe something happened to to their race that meant they could not harvest us, so they indended to come earlier but just could not, but that dont make sence because even with few left they still set off to go to Earth in this movie. 2) Maybe some Engineers had gone off and created us, without the other Engineers knowledge or permision maybe the set of Engineers who created us had died out or was punished by the others. Therefore. a) Maybe the other Engineers do not know about us. b) They never thought the other Engineers creation would ever be able to venture and find the Engineer homeworld. 3) Was the Engineer race nearly wiped out by some Bio Weapon or other creation they created, eventually they managed to contain that threat but, the Crew and Weyland etc Unleash that threat again or simular. Maybe they vistit Earth to Seed us after the event that wiped them nearly out (Xenos) knowing that some day that they could use us to repopulate their race. Why go to that hassle and let us find them, well maybe because at that time only a handfull of Engineers are left and their resources low and thus they hybernate and wait for us to go to them. Who knows.....

@Spartacus But the dilemma in your position remains? If we were, "CLEARLY never EVER meant to go anywhere", how would you account for the communications that were left, in the first case? And how would you account for the interpretation of those communications as an invitation, in the second case? It doesn't seem to stand. @Necrofan You were not referring to a literal God being - and neither was I. I was only pointing out that in what you said about the Promethean curse, you have simply raise the stakes by one Super being level, with the Divine, above the Engineers...

Then pretty much, yes. The engineers didn't know it at the time ( maybe because they, too stole the technology ) ; the fact that each civilization they kick-started would at some point show up where THEY live to challenge them, wishing to become like them. This is the curse of the gift of intelligent life. The bird that shows up to eat Prometheus' liver / The spaceship that shows up to steal their technology and basically take what they can for their own means. Same allegory, maybe.

Spartacus, I agree with you, in believing most of we are being shown in these trailers so far is more eye candy than plot elements, more of a diversion from its true story line than anything. Whatever it takes to keep us fans from dissecting the movie before it's released!

@Necrofan I see. I think is is very interesting and corresponds exactly, in principle, to what I have been thinking about the Order of Things. I considered that, in that Order, the point must inevitably come, when the Created, surpasses the Creator.

All of our theories are valid at this point. And we all deserve credit for defending them vigorously. The movie cannot possibly live up to the hype we have created for it in our minds. I will settle for a happy medium. And hope for much, much more.

I think we are going to find out as Scott has said of us that the whole idea here is HOW ARROGANT WE HAVE BEEN AND CONTINUE TO BE and HOW INSIGNIFICANT we are in this UNIVERSE. THAT WE HAD BETTER REALIZE THIS and fast !!! That we are making too many mistakes, Raping this Earth of ours in the process and almost always with a Religious Like Vigor it is done in the name of some "God". To Me The Space Jockey's are the "G-d Wanna Be's" who have gone ten million times further in their search of this kind of immortality then we have {The Derelict is Thousands or Millions of years old!}. We come along out of the blue and meddle, do what we do, investigate out of curiosity except in this case, everyone was so busy thinking about how all we want is answers, that we forgot how there might be an Alien race out there that misinterprets OUR intentions...we didn't even think of it. We were so arrogant in our belief that we must be Unique and maybe even the ONLY species of "alike" Intelligence and culture in the Universe. We forgot we might be pissing on someone else parade. We didn't really forget actually, we were so closed minded we made bad assumptions. We deliberately have Had Blinders on about our place in the Universe and the teachings or Religions about our own origins. I think we may certainly find out in this film that Mankind was Created by this Race of Space Jockeys. I also think we might find out that We Did have something to do with the process, but that we were somehow, out of desperation forced to do something, that mingled with their overall plans and intentions and thus changing it's intended outcome to something else entirely. because of this, at the same time I think their will be this suggestion, and I think Naoomi Rapace's character will be the very symbol of this, That Manknd is an Enduring species, and different perhaps than every other species the Space Jockeys have encountered in their Terra-Forming Travels, WE FIGHT BACK !!! For all of our arrogance and meddling and misplaced Intentions, we FIGHT BACK !!! We Survive !!! I think if nothing else, we EARN that races respect somehow.
