I have analysed the Prometheus ship and see here as another analogy I drew upon a few days previous was the fact that I speculated that the Prometheus ship was loosely, o.k. "LOSELY" based upon Gigers Turkey Burster 'first draft' (if you will) design of the Xenomorph's birth faze. Is the Prometheus ship in fact the metaphor for the Eagle? But the metaphor it represents appears to be hidden in plain sight. It IS the ship: Prometheus! And the 'Liver' it pecks out is the Ram manuver the crew of the ship itself impliments when it collides with The Juggernaught. For example of the Eagle metaphor: Here you can see the 'Eagle in flight' or in a 'Nested Position' or could be in a dive-bomber mode. The Prometheus ship is a metaphor in plain sight... Yet subtly concealed... But its is once again clear to me that the producers of this film are interlacing it with layer upon layer of subtext and metaphorical bordering on subliminal visual yet subtle 'language' for us viewers to digest ... ...or indeed, peck at! lol!

You don't know me, or this film. You speak about this film like some kind of expert... and you haven't even seen it yet. You haven't seen the film once, let alone multiple times to have a clear understanding of it. Yet here you are telling us all how the ship Prometheus is supposed to represent the bird that pecks out Prometheus' liver like as if this is a fact. It is not at this time a fact. It is not a metaphor for the eagle. You drew an eagle outline around the ship yourself. The eagle is more likely a representative of the aliens the humans will come in contact with, than the spaceship.

In any case, how in this world do you not know that perhaps I DIDN'T work on the film? Please tell me Hollow Way? How do you not know that? You don't know that I DIDN'T either! Do you!! Use your deductive reasoning...

Because if you worked on the film and then joined a website and gave away details before the release of the film, and got caught for doing it, you would be fired and never work with Ridley Scott again. And if you did that... you would be a fool. How is that for deductive reasoning? Any more "brain busters" for me Einstein?

Id Rather Be Eatin Something Else... don't take any of this personally... I'm actually having fun with this right now. I apologize for comparing the idea to a 5 year old. That wasn't nice. I just sometimes get really frustrated with "fan fiction". I'm sure you yourself get frustrated when people have crazy ideas... but act like it is fact. No one can say that BEFORE seeing this film, and even then... somethings only Ridley Scott and his writers will know for sure. Right? Your argument against me obviously is how do I know the aliens will represent the eagle? Well I don't know for a fact. No one does at this point. No of us have seen it yet. I'm just saying you also don't know that the ship represents the eagle... and I'm telling you... it is a STRETCH. I really think it is more likely that eagle will represnt the aliens. I do agree with you on something though. Symbolism will play out in this movie. The Prometheus story will no doubt relate to the film. My prediction though is that a spaceship is a spaceship. We will soon see who is "wrong. who is SO wrong." But again this is all in good fun. Who knows maybe on other threads you and I will be on the same side... we just aren't on this thread. lol

You seem to have instigated this tit-for-tat intellectual ping-pong match between us both. It appears to me that in some way shape or form, you perhaps. o.k. PERHAPS feel somewhat threatened by my scenario/hypothosis otherwise, why take deliberate and knowing steps to try and go out of your way to poo poo it constanly? Its as if you are projecting onto me YOUR own set of insecurities and unwillingness to accept what amounts to be near-enough blatantly staring you in the face and you don't even know it yet! Or see it, or even WANT to see it for that matter!... Shame...

O.k. Hollow Way, as you came back with a fair and balanced retort I will conceed in part to your reasoning here and about the general themes of which we are both I would dare to say: "analyzing" at this point... yes... : -)

Yes of course Hollow, and I do equally apologies for my, shall we say: CURT rebuff of your responses to myself. I will say this to all who read the threads I post, in particular this one. I've asked the question: "Could the Prometheus, COULD the Prometheus in fact be a visual metephor for the Eagle myth itself?" I then went on to give evidence, suggestive evidence it could be argued or debated upon, but a visual hypothosis to back up my reasoning. I then went on to make a case for my presentation and left it open for scrutiny and debate. But as often happens upon these matters, two sides or more become 'entrenched' within their own subjective reasonings until each side begins to 'get personal' with the other doing the reasoning and the other doing the doubting/de-bunking/rubbishing until the ACTUAL point of the original 'discussion' which then became an 'animated disagreement' then escalated into an all-out intellectual trench-warfare the point gets lost and two sides have thus become enemies, sniping at each other for no real good reason, you know... Its so unnecessary...

Yes I am a 30 something male. Got that people? lol That's why when people start talking about things like Transformers, G.I Joe, and TMNT, I'm right there with them. :) I also have read the Bible (still do) and ironically learned how deceptive religion can be from the Bible itself (example: Christ's enemies were the religious leaders)... but I fully believe in God. One God as the Bible states. You believe it, or you don't. Which is why I find the idea of this Prometheus movie so fascinating! I really do. I expect it will be my fave movie of the year... but yes in my own words... I haven't seen it yet... so that remains to be seen. I love that it tackles the big themes... and the arrogance of man as one of them. I love it!

In addition to that... I love smart horror films. As we all know... MOST horror films lack intelllignece... so the smart thrillers/horrors are just true gems. Alien is one such gem. A Sci-Fi horror of the highest calibur. Is it the best sci-fi horror ever? Well if you said it was, I would not argue with you. I really think this new hammerpede creature is horrific... I'm glad to be watching it safely from a movie theater when I see it. And there is more than just that. So I'm just really happy about this film. Last year we were teased that The Thing (prequel/remake) would be amazing... but it fell short... I suspect Prometheus will be the real deal!

Yes, and as Sci_intelligent films go The Thing (original) is a very good film as is Predator and Aliens. Alien of course but you already mentioned that, I do love the gigantic themes both 2001: A Space Odyssey and 2010: The Year We Make Contact have to offer and would very much like if not LOVE to see the next two book instalments 2061: Odyssey Three and 3001: The Final Odyssey realised upon film as I ABSOLUTELY LOVE the ideas and concepts behind those themes raised about life evolving upon the tiny sister world of Europa and Earth system now having a second Sol star: Sol 2 as a sister star to our own now designated Sol 1 (the Sun). We are now a binary star system and since you touch upon religion explored within that of film it is interesting to me that the giant themes of God, religion, Angels and powers of a Higher Being are all addressed and attempted to be answered yet in a very scientific sort of portrayle. As is indeed the case for Contact, another facinating film about the collisions and rebounds of religion and science played out upon our piblic conciousness when we recieve an alien signal from the depths of space. Independence Day was brilliant in its first twenty to twenty five minutes in to it dealing with the actual threat of a suprise alien invasion from outer/inner space. I say inner because how do we not know that they did not just come out of hyperspeed/inter-Dimensional Star Gate of sorts just prior to our detecting them? The Day the Earth Stood Still (remake) was good too as was Star Trek: First Contact and Star Wars films. I like most things you know.. What about yourself with regards to what I have added to your last comment! ?

I have to say, I agree with people who say that everyones favourite acid blooded baddie is the Eagle(pecking out our liver or bursting out of our liver?), humans are Prometheus(ie discovering things we shouldn't have and advancing too far, too fast) and SJ is the God who punishes us(by genetically creating said acid beastie out of some of the crew in the new film). I think the planet the film is set on is LV426, as it looks like they deliberately crash Prometheus into SJ's ship, thus stopping him taking his'cargo' to earth to punish the rest of us. It just looks like the weather has got a bit nastier when Nostromo sets down 30 years later. I think the skinny looking 'eggs' in the film are modified by SJ once he has the recipe for nasty critter perfected and they are the cargo that poor old Kane finds in Alien. How SJ gets infected? Dunno. But is the Space Jockey the android modified or taken over??? We all know they can be... 'a bit twitchy" What do you think? Can't wait. This will be the first film i'll visit the cinema for for a very long time...

Id Rather Be Eatin Something Else... yes I agree with your last comment... we only differ with the eagle spaceship stuff lol. I agree the original Thing is a smart Sci-Fi horror... and it wasn't until I watched the making of the movie with John Carpenter comments that I realized how thoughtful it truly was, and how he didn't make things obvious in it so you pick up new details with multiple viewings. That is great film making! Predator & Aliens are fantastic. Funny that a bit of backlash happened against Aliens after fans saw the scene in Alien of what happened to Dallas & Brett. We realized then that as great as Aliens is... the "hive" scene would have been different in the hands of Ridley Scott... and we probably would have been more interested in that one! Humans actually becoming eggs? WOAH!!! crivvens... yes I'm in agrreance with you about the eagle more represnting the aliens. We shall see. Id Rather Be Eatin Something Else... here is more powers of deductions from me... I believe that crivvens is not American. Why? Because of how the word "favorite" was spelled (favourite). So am I right crivvens? Where are you from? Or is it a spelling error? lol It's all good. I'm American born, but my family is from Ireland, or Canada. So I pick up on different spelling of words.
