super-massive black hole
MemberOvomorphMay-20-2012 6:01 AMThe dark secret or hidden aganeda that Vickers could be harboring is the fact that during their five year hypersleep David tampered with the travel logs and course trajectories and made LV 426 appear to read as LV 223 and they wind up at the Zeta Reticuli system only a million + years in the past.
The Prometheus, during those five years enconters something, some annomolous effect during its intermittent flight. This would then tie in why the Juggernaught crashlands behind them when their running and around them. The reveal is like in the original Planet of the Apes the discovery of the entombed, fossilized Statue Of liberty thus reveals that he has been on Earth ALL ALONG, only thousands of years in the future! The reveal here in this case is some how the Prometheus and that of its crew some how ends up making a jump back in time a million + years to LV 426 in the past.
No traces explain why they will never find anyone in the future because weathering, geological planetary forces, temperature and the slow erosionary processe would thus erode awy any evidence for a future expedition to this world would find. May be the Juggernaught is made of a different type of alloy that makes it impervious to time for ALL TIME!
The Prometheus goes into orbit around what it thinks is the designation LV 223 but it has been tricked. Somehow it will transpire that it is indeed LV 426 all along and that they are upon it millions of years in it past when it weather was perhaps alittle better to tollerate. Working idea....................

If you understand M-theory, Super-String theory, wormholes, black holes, relativity (general and special), gravity, light speed, time dilation and the big bang theory then you should understand, theoretically at least, the idea of using M-theory to achieve FTL travel, while circumventing the effects of time dilation.

MemberOvomorphMay-20-2012 12:58 PMWait Snorkel, a worm hole leads at times back into "A" universe you said "ours" yes at often times it may head into ours but maybe into others as well and many others after that then into ours again and so on and so on. Not JUST into ours. Theres many hundreds of trillions, google-plex ammounts of universes and there Branes out there many more perhaps.

MemberTrilobiteMay-20-2012 1:01 PMwormholes are still theoretical, thus this is all theory talk, thus we do not know if wormholes even exist, never mind where they can or cannot go

That may be - and it may be why I am asking you the question.
I don't understand, it seems quite simple:
What you are saying does not seem to be supported by one thing I've read?
With that, all I have asked, is on what are you basing what you are suggesting?
I'd like to read it?

MemberTrilobiteMay-20-2012 1:07 PMThis whole thing is using theory to explain fiction - like they did all the time in Star Trek.
Theoretically it MAY be possible, or it MAY not.

MemberOvomorphMay-20-2012 1:07 PMGentlemen (and, of course, ladies),
I believe we have been gamed by SUPER-MASSIVE BLACK HOLE, the originator of this thread...
Indeed, this very THREAD is a Super Massive Black Hole!
All of you have been drawn, inexorably, into it's clutches, and if you don't awaken to this, you will all be reduced to a singularity!
As Dan O'Bannon quoted, "How fast does a spaceship move? It moves at the speed of PLOT!"
I beseech you - abandon your course before all forum threads collapse into this one!

If you want a laymans explanation then watch Event Horizon.
But if you want an in-depth explanation read up on everything you can, and I mean everything. Even then, you will probably still have more questions than answers, just like Alien.
If you really wanna read up on it all, message me back in... say 20 years time. I have been following these theories most of my life, as is usually the case with such things. If you want to read up on it go right ahead, but it'll take a LONG time my friend.

This sounds like another non-answer.
However, that is an answer in itself.
@beyondthebloodplain
I think you may be onto something and I, for one, intend to heed your warning.

Let me put it another way... I would be typing for next few months, even years to find and post all of the links you are requesting, and it would take you years upon years to read it all, never mind understand it.
What I'm saying is - if you genuinely are interested then read up on it, all of it, I have been following it all my life, pondering, going through the equations, the logic, the theories, and there is still more to learn, read and figure out. Its not a non-answer is an honest answer... there is no one source that says it all

MemberOvomorphMay-20-2012 8:12 PMOh my God, I can't believe it. The technobabble came to an end.
Maybe we now can return to the topic of this thread: Moving backwards in time for plot's sake.
I say: No chance to move backwards in time. Scott damns this, me too.
