Do you think Prometheus dialogue will have any added camp value?

MemberOvomorphMay 27, 20123692 Views88 RepliesThe latest clip from Prometheus has the following line of dialogue" Vickers asks repeatedly "What did he said" to an overwhelmed David (background of ominous music), who says "It's Confidential", but after shes grabs him from the throat he replies "He said Try Harder", as she releases him he asks ironically "Cup of tea, Ma'am?", and she pushes him away from the face threateningly . I know Ridley Scott asked David to see Joseph Losey's "The Servant" in preparation for his role of his android "butler". But the dialogue sounded pretty overblown and campy to me. More like a dramatic confrontation right out of a Dynasty or a Dallas episode. I know the clip is out of context and I know I am risking excommunication from the Overlords of this board, but I would like to know what the rest of you think about this snippet of dialogue and clip.

yea yea Svanya, like I said....and in any case... to each their own...I call him "Sham alam a Ding Dong" anyways what more do ya want?
I did not say it was some Great film but it certainly isn't as bad as all that I have seen way way worse.
& believe me I have seen a lot of films !

If you pointed a camera at wall and record it for 107 minutes it to me would still be more enjoyable then "Signs". Many would have a different opinion on that but if I gave a shit what other people thought then I wouldn't do anything in life and I would be working for the Canadian Government and living in the burbs [and I'd probably be happy and more well adjusted but that is beside the point].
I'm as far from a passive viewer as you can get. If it isn't doing it for me it is wasting my time. Time that can be spent working on my own projects [mostly musical stuff], or reading or watching film that might be better.
There is nothing I hate more then feeling like I am wasting my time. I have too much to do, and too little time to get it done [work 3 jobs, endlessly going sort of person].

@Wesen, It's a curse, trust me.. :P
Ok, Spartacus, I will agree it's not the worst film ever made...
And let me reiterate, David is very passive aggressive...XD

Hi Shane, but WHY don't you like it and what are some of the other movies with bad plots (apart from Transformers) and what are some good movies in your opinion?
Just asking because you seem like someone who thinks about these things a lot and your opinion would be interesting.
I only saw a few minutes of signs on TV and they never made me wanna watch the whole movie.

What do I like?
Lately all I have been watching is horrible Italian ripoffs of Star Wars and Mad Max. Um....I watch "Pandorum" last night. It was a functional film. Not great, but good enough for me to keep one while I worked on other things. Plot hole galore but meh.
I'm trying to think of the last "good" movie i watched and enjoyed and I am drawing a blank. "Moon" was moderately well reviewed and I loved it, mostly because it filled me with '70's scifi nostalgia. Um....Seriously, I haven't watched and enjoyed something new and critically acclaimed in years. If I have I can't think of it right now.
I like crap. I am the first to admit it. I know what I like is completely trash cinema.

@Spartacus I think its time for some B movie fun, I'm going to check it out to see if I haven't watched it yet :-)

Shyamalan is very hit or miss. I liked "The Sixth Sense" and "Signs" and [i]loved[/i] "Unbreakable." None of the rest of his movies have really worked for me.

The concept of Pandorum was an interesting one but the execution of the movie was flawed.. I almost fall asleep in the movie theater.. the ending was kind of cool though... there should be a lot more movies about interstellar travel.. and to think Jon Spatihs said human kind will never reach another star... shame on him lol

stumped all of you didn't I ?
You all MAY have seen RANGO... MAYBE !!!
LMFAO ! & each one of those films is a 9 or 10/10 IMO !!!
May 27, 2012
Yeah, I don't remember why I hated Pandorum. I think it was partly because I expected something entirely different. But also because it mixed and mashed up so many different ideas and it didn't know what it wanted to be.
but I agree, the ending was good.

I love "Gaillo" film.
I love Lucio Fulci Flicks.
Honestly, I just had to go ask my roommates to help me with this. And it boiled down to these key phrases "abstract" "visually striking" and "weird".
I love "The Beyond", I love "Tetsuo the Iron Man". "Electric Dragon 80000 volts". I love Jodorowsky's films and his comics with moebius [which read like what I like in movies]. I like really bad 70's sci-fi like "Logan's Run", "Futureworld" and "west world". I like "THX1138". I LOVE the original "Solaris" and I adore "Stalker". My favourite Planet of the Apes film is "Beneath the Planet of the Apes" because it gets so random and insane near the end. I like really nihilistic scifi like "The Quiet Earth". I love shit like "A Boy and his Dog". I still love the first "Terminator". "Robocop" is a hilarious black comedy. I like a lot of stuff for pure nostalgia value. I like "Krull" and shit like "Battle Beyond the Stars" more then I like Star Wars. I love pre-1997 Hong Kong action flicks.
Seriously, i don't know. I like mostly crap. Cheap garbage. I do like some classics...."Deer Hunter", "Raging Bull", "2001", and that sort of thing. I love Ozu and Kurosawa. But I also love shit. If anyone can put a finger on it hey, I would like to know.
And I said Pandorum was function, not good. I have seen way worse then it. I have seen Infinitely better. Again, I watched it because it was on netflix and I was practicing scales. It passed the time [netflix canada is barely worth the 7.99 and I am kinda at the ends of what I havent seen on it that i have interest in when I am unwinding and practicing on the couch].
