@Deckard That's what observed in my last reply about the derelict...sometimes, when things are unexplained, they're better because they create a certain suspense/mystery...have you ever watched "Cube"? Excelent film. Mostly due to the mystery...it's about a group of men that wake up inside a structure/building made of several cube-shaped rooms...they don't know how did they get there, who planned it, nothing...they just know that they need to get out of there...it gets more and more interesting as you're watching...
But, there are some basic things that need to be explained, like, for example, the engineer's reasons to attack earth. If they didn't explained them, then it would have been a really vacuous movie, don't you think so mate?
Have you heard of phoenix asteroids?
They glow in every color of the rainbow...they travel endlessly through space...

I know I may be in the minority here, but I think that after returning to the franchise he left thirty years ago, Scott should have given the fans of Alien what they deserved: some answers. Otherwise its just him cashing in on the Alien fan base to ensure a bigger box office opening for his new science fiction movie.

ITs getting better .... still there must be a few flaws..but overall the vibe is getting better

@BigDave That sucks. I don't know too much about Lindeloff. I know I liked what I watched of Lost but stopped watching it for some reason and I know what he's said in interviews for Pro. I have heard alot of complaints but didn't know he had a "habbit" of doing it.
What are other examples?

THERE IS A KIND OF SPOILER IN THIS POST! NO SPECIFICS THOUGH!
@Xenomoroph64 Yes, I've seen Cube. Pretty good.
Also, I simply gave in on another forum and pretty much read every spoiler I could. Don't think it'll "ruin" the film for me. In fact, I know now that I WILL LOVE IT as pretty much all the stuff I wanted to happen does plus all other kinds of great stuff too. With that said I can say that the reason behind the engineer's wanting to attack earth IS explained so rest easy there.

@Drakeequation...What questions were left unanswered or explained bad in those films? That's what I meant. BigDave said he has a habbit or track record of leaving things ridiculously open or not being able to tie loose ends properly. I was asking about those instances besides Lost. I've seen Star Trek and Cowboys and Aliens. I liked Star Trek very much and thought CAA was ok. Don't remember any of these bad characteristics in those.

@ Deckard You really didn't see anything unexplained in those films? Like why an advanced civilization has to come to earth to steal gold from cowboys or why the black holes formed from dying suns magically take ships back in time instead of tearing them apart at a subatomic level like everything else?

For some reason I can't edit the post above the post above this one if that makes sense. When I go to edit it there's just a bunch of gibberish. What I wanted to say is that the spoilers I read may be BS. With that said though, if they aren't, this film is GOING TO FUCKING ROCK! I didn't get the feeling they were BS but they could very well be. I'll see soon I guess.

Well if Lindelof worked on Abrams Star Trek then that's a plus for me, I loved that movie.
I'm sure there must be a central storyline that the film follows but I'm guessing there are lots of small side plots in there leave interpretation open to the viewer.
For example lets say the snake/cobrahugger creature, which has a head remarkably like the Weyland logo, is a direct result of David dipping his insignia'd finger in the black goop then that would kinda work for me, suggest a lot of possibilities re Xeno creation. I'm not saying it is but if that's the type of ideas they my be sowing then I would get it.

@Deckard There is a difference between unexplained and "Lostian" lol.
The definition of Lostian is: piling up red herrings left and right, claiming every detail is important - psyche! It was all about the characters.
Ummm, fighting for survival on an isolated island doesn't give you a rich enough backdrop for conflict and character development? Lol.
But if it's unexplained things a la Cube, the fountain, Donnie Darko and other movies mentioned I will be happy. Most of the times when the mystery is explained it loses its appeal (and the explanation ends up being ridiculous).
Still looking forward to it.

@Drake TBH I only saw them once. Didn't notice at the time. That's why I was asking. But I do realize that in some movies you just have to go with the flow and suspend disbelief. Hell, especially in STAR TREK and a film called COWBOYS AND ALIENS. Those kinds of unaswered questions are, imo and estimation, totally different than the ones which will be in Prometheus.

I feel personally that the avp stuff was soo piss poor that R.S. almost had to take the film in different direction and if he gave the audience more of the same he would be torn to pieces for doin just that.

@Deckard
Agreed. When I first saw the trailer for Cowboys and Aliens I thought it was a joke ;D

Okay, somebody's obviously lying, because I just checked with my sources and it turns out Ridley Scott IS, in fact, a penguin.

@ Orangecat, @John D. Manchot also means one handed man.. I guess it means that Ridley Scott is not clumsy or unskilled :-)

First off...all this concern AND prejudgment based on reviews is beginning to irritate me.......Drakeequation...you're making a lot of negative assumptions about this move with no basis other than what a few reviews have said and that I find disturbing and, frankly, qutie hilarious considering the history of Alien to begin with...at first, the original was crapped on left and right as being a run of the mill disappointment in its earliest reviews...and as to this that you siad, "but I think that after returning to the franchise he left thirty years ago, Scott should have given the fans of Alien what they deserved: some answers. Otherwise its just him cashing in on the Alien fan base to ensure a bigger box office opening for his new science fiction movie. "
I find this bit particularly sad, "Scott should have given the fans of Alien what they deserved: some answers." None of us is OWED or DESERVES anything.....It's a movie..it's his movie and as the last pertinent individual PRIMARILY responsible for the original, he has every right to decide what questions to answer and WHAT WE DO NOT NEED TO KNOW........This sense of entitlement is more irritating to me than just about anything...I'm as big a fan of Alien as any of you will find and I'm going into Prometheus with an open mind as I would with ANY film...as a member of the audience I owe that to any fimmaker...
Anyhooo....there is one bit from one of these reviews that I find rahter fascinating:
"I was saying on Twitter (the translation of my tweets was not totally good) that the Ridley Scott film, written by Lindelof (LOST, don't forget LOST !) was about... A love story. Well, not a love story... But a Love History.
Have you ever felt in love with someone and not being able to understand why you did have these feelings ? Not being able to understand your own body about that ? Your own emotions ?
That's the parable of this film.
And what if I told you that the one you love doesn't love you anymore... What if I told you that the one you love plan to destroy you... What if I told you that the one you love plan to replace you by someone else...
Have you ever had these feelings ?
THIS is the film is about.
Anyone else feel as though or Think he's refering to the love between God and man and man being replaced by his creator?...interesting....

Thanks everyone for sharing and posting early reviews of the film. I'm really excited for this movie more so just to have something tha actually looks amazing come out in theaters. I'm going in with an open mind and just enjoying the experience not taking anything too seriously. Honestly, there have been reviews on past flicks that have come out lately that gave good ratings and i thought was crap. Being a video store girl for six yrs i've seen or ignored alot of crap the studios have been throwing out to make $$$. Bottom line i love sci-fi and i love horror. I love David Lynch films and Dario Argento and if its a lil different and leaves stuff unanswered i'd luv it all the same.
