Alien tie in

Initially it seemed the Alien would not return as a character. In the April 2012 issue of Empire magazine, co-writer Damon Lindelof implied that the original Alien creature would make at least a small appearance. Apparently, it is confirmed that a small Alien creature does indeed appear. Taken from IMDB FAQ'S If mastermind Lindelof says this than we can pretty much say it's the same kind of alien. However... Ridley Scott said that he didn't want any kind of xenomorph in the movie (This was probably another marketing stunt, remember that he said that weyland wouldn't be part of the movie about a year ago) Eventually he said that we wouldn't see the xenomorph from the Alien we all know and love but a precursor of that same kind! So Lindelof says yes and ridley says yes/no I saw it and hmmmm didn't look like a 100% xenomorph but I guess it's a precursor of the so called one!

"precursor" implies that it can create, through some process, the alien in the first movie. Is that really what he said? Because as little as we know about it... that seems like a huge stretch to me. Then again, I STILL haven't seen the movie. :/
