Answers given on Blue Ray

This thread is about hypothesizing 1) what will be answered, 2) what will be included in that 20-30 minutes of additional footage.
and 3) WILL THEY SUBTITLE WHAT DAVID TOLD THE ENGINEER!!?!?
discuss :)

So we have to buy a Bluray Disk to get answers to a sci-fi plot?
Nope, Sir! Maye this will be one of the most illegal downloaded movies ever - or the people lose interest and watch sci-fi classics again, awaiting the next big bang movie...
Still waiting for Chris Cunningham to do a sci-fi movie... really.
June 20, 2012
Don't really want to know what David said...wait...taking that back haha..but I don't think we will learn that.
Don't care about the Elders at all...better in the beginning with one Engineer.
20 to 30 minutes of footage will probably expand the Shaw/Engineer scene and fill out several pivotal scenes....probably no new FX shots

I find it a little amazing to see hopes piled so willingly and yearningly upon a Blu-ray.
As if that were some longed-for Ark of the Covenant as far as making everything, "add up", or otherwise filling what seems a quite significant, central kind of hollowness at the heart of this business - that some, charmingly, seem to refer to as, "deliberate", this, and "intentional", that, and, "requires thinking", the other - apparently without realising how odd that seems:
it's all, so, "deliberate", "intentional", and, "requires thinking" - but people are hoping a Blu-ray will, somehow, address those same things?........?!......
So, then, is it an actual, functional, film; in the sense that we understand Film - or is it some kind of gag: where, having bought some questions in 3D, you then also have to buy the answers on the Blu-ray in order to come to terms with what the Hell you just paid to watch?....
I may be out of fashion, but I take the view that a Blu-ray should add depth, not be the depth that was missing in the first place and, personally, when I pay to see a film like this one, I have no intention of compounding that by then paying for a damned Blu-ray of the thing. Oh no.
I don't care if the Blu-ray promises to blow the Story open wider than The Hitler Diaries. Which, of course: it won't.

Agreed...pirated content sucks ass and bleeds the artists...then we get less. It's that simple.

I hope they explain why the Human Resources Dept at Weyland Industries completely failed at hiring a competent geologist, biologist, scientists, security and most disasterous mission lead & worst case of nepotism ever.
Where f*ck are the robots/robotics dept. in this corporation (minus the detrimental and extremely experimental David)?
Bwah.

this says it all.....(source. Red Letter Media facebook page)
It was worse than a disgrace. It was a calculated, cynical film designed not to tell a story but to confuse the audience so that they can make sequels, prequels, special editions, video games, comics, novels, etc. in order to answer (or not) the million questions they raised. Prometheus has no beginning or end. And I won't even go into the plot holes, one-dimensional characters, moronic dialogue, confused tone (actually absence of it), or the overall stupidity of every action taken by every single character. Prometheus is not designed to exist in cinema. It is designed to start its life OUTSIDE cinema - on discussion boards and all the channels I mentioned earlier. This is anti-cinema.

I don't like it any more than you but I recognize that the business model for some works has changed..I'm resigned to it, that's what we got now in this day and age in some cases and that's it...it is what it is.
I would like nothing better than self contained films that don't rely on salting the Internet pre release or sequels and home releases to provide further clarity...I would love to park my ass in the theater for a 3 hr film that covers the story beginning to end.
Sadly, maddeningly.....that isn't the case.

@mr Yutani
I don't hate anybody dude - I just feel sorry, deeply sorry for Ridley contracting GLS.
Poor fellow.

The Red Letter Media Youtube video on "Prometheus" was pure hilarity.
They read my mind when I sat there in theater with my heart breaking and soul in mid-crush.

Yo party people, we can all talk till 2094 how nice this Prometheus was, what a big epic, what nice metaphors and hints...yo yo yo.
Well, the more often i see Prometheus - the more i get bored.
I can watch Alien and Aliens 1-2 times a year since years, without beeing bored. THATs the difference.
So i think i am on a good way to get this disease behind me, though still unresolved.
If it would have not been from Scott / Alien Universe, i dont think anyone would give a big shit about it.
The way of storytelling and fooling the audience with pseudo-intellectual farts is so poor that i really feel frustrated about this big chance and the wait we all had for it and the happyness when we did follow the developement of the flick, some interviews here, some leaked pictures of the set there.. that was such a nice time.
But in the end, when we finally sat there in this huge cinema, and the drama started - we can really say that a DRAMA STARTED!
The drama of a wasted opportunity to do a masterpiece.
What went wrong?
To many cooks? Lindelofs riddler style? Postproduction Edition? The studios? Unreachable expectations?
Maybe a mix of all this.
And most of the reviews speak the same language, so i dont think WE ARE ALL SO WRONG... but it seems some people love to put lipstick on a pig.
Its like the most appetite looking cake in the world, and you really love to enjoy it and cant wait - but when you do your fist bite, you think "oh, thats something different..", but when you did eat it all, you realize, the cooks mistaked salt for sugar... Bähh...
Sad, sad, SAD!

@The High Priest
I think that assessment actually has depth and insight missing from what we were served. "Anti-cinema". Perhaps: and, if so, perhaps profoundly.
@Jett
I believe there is wisdom in your words. However, I am still furious at how we are now all treated simply because, in this context, most people seem happy to complacently enter into and onwardly support a contract that states: "This is what we deserve".

The negative review section is in another place. If you are lost, I can link you to it. In here, we are discussing about the blu ray release of Prometheus.
Where are the mods in this website?

Even IF this film had absolutely nothing to do with the "Alien" xenomorph, was NOT directed by Sir Ridley Scott and was some grand re-telling of the Sumerian myths using HR Giger designs, I would still loathe it on a logical, scientific, literary and casting level.
It's cinema alright. It's just a beautifully bloated, poorly written, over-handsomely cast, scientifically-challenged, mish-mash of Sumerian mythos tailored by Scott, warped by Lindelof, back story of the "Alien" universe mess of a movie.
It's really been Lucas'd up proper.
June 20, 2012
Truth, don't ban me, "bro".
All crap talk said, I do hope the Blu-Ray explains a lot and gives us ALL the film we wanted and deserved as explosively entitled fanboy xeno-nerds.

^ Nah man, its just amusing how every thread in this website turns into a Prometheus hatefest when the topic isn´t even about that. There are sections in here for that. You didn´t like the movie? Well good for you, I don´t give a fuck. There are threads here to discharge all your rage if you want to. When I enter a thread I want to read actual responses to the op, not "this movie is bad because of this, this and this." If I wanted to read that, then I would just go and read "Your thoughts on Prometheus"

Well, with every post comes forth a perspective and unfortunately for some of you all, mine comes from a place similar to a self-deprecating sphincter that smells of bitter hot dog farts.
I pray to the Sumerian pantheon of Gods, the Blu-Ray and subsequent sequel re-energizes my confidence in this franchise, Scott & Lindelof and makes me feel whole again, so I can learn to love myself.
