I got permanent psychosis from playing Doom 3. Inebriated on things that grow in the forest, I could only get to the middle boss that was a giant warthog with rocket launchers on it's back. I don't play videos games as much as I like to watch better players Poon Noobs! So, I watch some friends play the rest of Doom and it was great. It's really the ultimate entertainment to watch your friends go to Hell, and fight some demons for you.

Doom 3 was beautifully built, it had no weapon-mounted flashlights and a lighting system which had no regard for your brightness setting. Shadows were shadows and you were stuck in them with the zombies looking right back at you.

I have always thought, even before rumors of Prometheus, that the Alien was some sort of the biological weapon. It's just to perfect to be a naturally evolved being. It adapts to any DNA it encounters, has caustic blood that is universally corrosive, is hostile to all other lifeforms, and can adapt to any environmental condition. The Jocks either created it as a weapon, a terra-forming device, or maybe even a defense mechanism against other even more powerful races out there in the galaxy. It is also possible that the reason the Jocks don't come along and destroy Earth after their encounter with Prometheus is that they were also destroyed by their own creation.

The big head is the alien engineer prometheus finds in this movie what I`m guessing. Maybe there were aliens from the past who worshipped the engineers and gave their dna in the urns and placed it in front of the big head. Those scarey looking suits function is to scare off unwanted visiters or even protect themselves from hostile alien life form. Obviously, there are these engineer alien and humans that exists there got to be more different aliens. Maybe, aliens that lived but no longer exist.

I can't wait for this film, but this seems like a project that wouldn't be very helpful. I'm with you on your enthusiasm! Prometheus will be an outstanding film, no matter how over-hyped it is in our minds. Everyone here is going to dig it.
I also think its funny that folks talk about not wanting the next trailer to reveal much, but simultaneously over-analyzing every single leaked photo and still frame from the trailer.
Ultimately I can't wait for the next trailer, if there is one (I don't think there needs to be another one to be honest).
ReplyEnhanced EddiePrometheus ForumWhile we waitFeb 3, 2012
I'm not sure what you mean by helpful. I'm only suggesting a fun activity during the current dearth of new material. I don't expect it would reveal plot secrets or anything profound.
ReplyaintnozenoPrometheus ForumWhile we waitFeb 3, 2012
I think it would be interesting to see some extrapolation on the pictures as well. I enjoy all the speculation, and hope this movie is better than we have imagined it to be.
I just hope we haven't already hyped this film to the point that no matter what, it won't live up to our expectations.
ReplyJCAlien Movies ForumWho bought the Alien Vault Book and what do you think of it?Feb 3, 2012
I ordered the book through Barnes and Noble just after Christmas and got it for $24.00. It's nice to have, but it's pretty much a one time read. Not enough technical stuff, drawings, or photos of the Alien. Will probably give it away to my Uncle, who is a huge fan. I owe him one letting me watch Alien at his house when I was a kid. My parents would have crapped a chestburster had they known!

@ craigamore - as usual everything that you say makes sense bar one thing, didn't Burke say that Weyland-Yutani had 'influence' throughout the 'board' such as seats on the ICC, funding the USCMC, co-funding the ESCA and their 'shake and bake' colonies across 300 surveyed worlds with their own manufactured atmosphere processors.
Surely they have done this, not only for the power and influence it allows, but also to allow unseen passage of any required specimens they manage to obtain. I find it difficult to believe that WY would be part of the mechanism that prevents them from attaining their goal.
P.S. I is a he my friend
ReplycraigamoreAlien Movies ForumCorporate Behind the ScenesFeb 3, 2012
True Snorky....but even with that influence, I get the sense that there's still enough governmental control in place to prevent trafficing of something like that easy....either way, some official customs barrier has to be in place for these plot points to make sense....you know?

The box band says the project was supervised by Chris Willis. Academy make up/vfx winner. He worked on the Fly 1&2, Gremlins, and Scanners. Not sure why they picked him... The inside cover is a summary of Aien. (crew, setting, creatures) Also some info on the production.

The suit is a bio - mechanical weapon? Should the suit malfunction on the life form using it, it could fuse both suit and bearer DNA permanently, creating a hybrid? The suit has become parasite like, and therefore needs a host (i.e. other life forms) to survive?

Whether the SJ is a suit or not ... or the head is actually a head or a helmet ...
I sometimes look at this SJ creature's head and see a large facehugger with the elephant nose being the tail. A dead face hugger that did it's deed and died but never left The face of the SJ and throughout time fossilized onto the skull of the SJ.

I think Ridley Scott, who seldom makes a light-hearted movie, would go for a more pessimistic view of the Gods.

here here Jeystone. I saw in an interview Lindellof pussying out. Saying you can up the tension without upping the rating, sure you can - I agree with him. But I think we all want utter terror beyond belief. Really shocking shit. Thats why we need the R. Boundaries on acceptability need to be pushed in Prometheus. NOT Pg 13 Diet Horror tension.
ReplyEGR101Prometheus ForumThe Prometheus HypocrisyFeb 2, 2012
Start an ANTI-PG13 campaign people! Boycott Fox if they release a PG-13 Alien Prequel.
I remember AVP is rated PG-13 but it does contain quite a bit of stabbing, impaling, decapitating especially during the Clash of Titans moments. But the way I remember it, the movie feels safe, toothless, despite the amount of violence in it. It takes a great filmmaker to film violence that make an impact I guess.
ReplyRipley Clone 8Prometheus ForumThe Prometheus HypocrisyFeb 2, 2012
yeah the big problem today is that everyone is so entrenched in a world of action and instant gratification. We all want everything "NOW". Movies tend to over do the action, the story sucks, the cgi is overdone, movies rip off from other movies, ideas are constantly recycled, every scene is spoiled through the trailers so that movie studios can draw in an audiences easier, audiences are always comparing one movie to another, studios are too afraid to produce anything original due to budget constraints and financial risks. Movies just don't leave an impact as they once did. Film studios and filmmakers alone are looking to just please the audiences and make films that will bring in a large profit. Nothing is just "story" anymore. Its all about pathetic and overdone cgi and action. Everyone goes to the movies to be entertained but nowadays its like their spoon feeding us rushed and overdone crap. They put everything in the trailer just so we can spend our money and increase their profits.
A good director knows that they have to fight for their vision. They can't just let studios walk all over them just to get what they want. Film studios don't care about the creative content of a film, they just want things in a film that they know will draw in an audience. What a good director knows is that he will have to fight for his vision in order to convince the film studios to up the budget and thus giving the director more room to expand his vision. It seems like either directors nowadays either depend on too much cgi or they just want to remain "friends" with the studios thus giving the studio the opportunity to take advantage of whomever may make the film.
In the end I feel like over 60 percent of the films we get nowadays are done in small amounts of time, rushed out the door and milked dry for advertisement purposes. Very few films, if any leave a lasting impact anymore. Originality has been thrown out the window for cash and cgi is overdone pathetically to the point where we have just accepted it. What happen to miniatures. What happened to "REAL". Is everything just going to be done in cgi one day? I really don't know. All I know is that film itself has taken a turn for the worst and the biggest problem is, it doesn't seem to be getting better anytime soon.
I know Ridley Scott has a plan up his sleeve. There's not a lot of directors out there like Scott who know how to advertise properly and ultimately keep things under wraps until the release of the film. Look how heavily guarded 20th Century Fox is about Prometheus. Obviously some of that has to do with Scott's advertising techniques. They haven't spilled all the beans yet about the ENTIRE film in their trailer or through interviews like some filmmakers tend to do. What's lost in today's society is secrecy and mystery. Everyone wants to get the word out RIGHT AWAY. They don't ever want to wait until the primeire of the film. One of the biggest damn culprits of spoilage is trailers themselves. Editors and studios milk the films dry of all the key scenes within a film. Honestly, "WTF" is all I have to say. Its a cheap way for audiences to get enticed to go to a movie and spend their money just too see everything they saw in the trailer.
I think Scott will be able to dodge most if not all these problems. Obviously 20th Century Fox respects Scott and his ability to make a film. So there's a good tell tale sign that things are on the right track for Prometheus.
