I do get the feeling that the facehugger and the alien are a product of the sj race. Possibly from the sj's own dna. This would explain how the eggs could be on the ship and the pilot unaffected. (someone had to load them). the facehugger is too perfectly fitted for the human head. It must have been a creation for the destruction of the human race. The ship found by the Nostromo crew had a human aboard. The seat/suit they find "fossilized" was probably a crew mwmber from prometheus who highjacked that craft. The pilot had been infected and crashed when the alien burst out.

Many thanks for the very kind feedback. I love the idea of a movie poster. The new one is great. It shows just enough for you to wonder what the film is about, but it is perhaps the first in a series of posters. That's what I would do, the closer we get to the release date the more exciting the posters should get. That's not a new idea but it's a great way of keeping interest. I think Prometheus is going to be a game changer for the movie industry. It will show how a movie, the director, writers, artists, actors, engineers, developers, and most importantly the fans can make something special.
Prometheus is a carefully crafted production that I feel will address some of the disappointments of later films based in the Alien mythos. Sir Ridley Scott put so much effort and risk into Alien I bet he felt very frustrated with the directions it went into. I've got to say that Aliens was amazing. A different direction presented from another legendary director - James Cameron. Alien 3 was such a sad let down. IT was sad because of a bad script and a director (David Fincher? sorry - writing off the top of my head ;-) ) who at that time just had such a hard time with the accountants I seem to remember.
To name drop, I wrote to the great Fred Hole, the supervising Art director, he was brilliant and greatly missed. I spoke to him a few times and he was very helpful. Any case I meander. The point was I think the Hollywood bosses got nervous. It had too many writers on it and got chopped to bits. You realise that no one wants to make a crap movie, it's the fallout of problems in the main, rather than artistic miss-firing. Well I'll leave it there. ;-)

Oh yes, did I say I'd have a go at developing a poster? Ok.

Reply to OP:
Perhaps Kane did manage to throw the facehugger off him, but the acid had already started melting through his helmet. Once it melted through, he would go unconscious in a short time (a couple of minutes, according to Google), which would leave him at the facehugger's mercy.

Holy Crap that looks so good. I am with Ripley on this one, collectors edition for this one. It really looks like they put a lot of great effort into this one. Looks just like Aliens. I hope it lives up to the hype. Thanks BugHunter!!!

This is actually quite a good idea and I for one think we should urge Fox to do this. yeah, granted, they'll make even more money off us but at the same time it will allow those that weren't born or were too young first time round to see it in all its splendor, while at the same time showing newcomers to see what happened after Prometheus (so to speak).
ReplycraigamoreAlien Movies ForumTo see Alien on the big screenJan 28, 2012
I would love to see it on the big screen as well. It's my favorite film of all time also. Granted, I saw the 2003 re-release with "director's cut" in the theater, but Scott has said that it was more of him adding stuff at the studio's request, so....I'm glad for that, because it totally recked the flow of his film and I was very disappointed. To see the original cut in its proper format would just be wonderful.

Some enterprising soul at Fox is bound to suggest a cinema double bill of Prometheus and a digitally remastered Alien.
I saw Alien in the cinema when it was first released. By that time I'd seen Close Encounters, Star Trek, The Man Who Fell to Earth and probably others that I can't remember. But Alien was in a class of its own. Ridley Scott has an extraordinary ability to create a universe, full of detail, that draws you in and stays in the mind for a long time afterwards (at least with his science fiction films). It's a shame that I've already seen Alien in the cinema because I would love to relive that experience of my first viewing of it.
After that I knew that Ridley Scott was a name to watch. And he didn't disappoint with Blade Runner. I sat down in the cinema, the titles came up, and with the first view of LA in the 21st century, my jaw hit the floor and stayed there for the whole film. I've seen BR 40 or 50 times, and probably the same with Alien.
I often wondered why he never made another sci-fi film. Perhaps he felt that he couldn't surpass Blade Runner, admittedly a very difficult task. That's why I have high hopes for Prometheus. If Ridley can achieve the same amazing blend of beauty and terror as he did with Alien, I'll be happy.
There are very few films I've seen that have had the same level of impact as Alien on first viewing. That list includes Blade Runner, Pan's Labyrinth, The Prestige, The Matrix, V for Vendetta, and that's about it.

Hi there. First timer here. Like many others that have contributed on this forum I was too young to see Alien on the big screen when it came out (Although I do remember my parents sending me out of the room when it appeared on TV the first time - and sitting on the stairs listening to what i later was to find out was the scene with Dallas in the air shaft!! Just listening to it was scary enough for a 12 yr old)
Anyway, the thing i wanted to say was several months ago (when I first started getting the "Prometheus virus" I decided to contact my local mutiplex cinema and emailed the manager requesting the re-play Alien before 2012's epic hits our screens. I didn't expect a respons but to my surprise I was contacted several days later to say they would indeed. look into it. I suppose it more likely to happrn if there are plenty of requests so i let's go for it...if we don't ask...we won't get!
Failing that everyone feel free to send requests to Vue Cinema Stirling Scotland and at least i can have a watch myself!!

i would appreciate seeing alien again at the cinema i think there was a certain amount of cinema screenings when the remastered directors cut hit the screen in 2003 but alas i never saw it i did see it in 1980 but the picture quality wasn't anything like it is now so yeah i think a double bill would get me to put my hand in my very shallow pockets.

Shambhala, woah! I never thought about the similarities between the Space Jockey and the Hindu god Ganesha. I wonder if it gets a mention in the movie?
Also, although this may not be appreciated, I couldn't help but notice that Cthulhu must have been an inspiration for Davy Jones from Pirates of the Caribbean:

Good point Ripley Clone! I mean if Ridley Scott wants to show us this expanded universe in Prometheus, more than just the corporate greed show in the Alien franchise then introducing a new deadly alien species would be a good move. As in a galaxy of billions of planets, more than one "perfect" deadly species would exist I'd have thought. . .

@bigbirdjimmy --I wasn't really thinking of the Borg when I mentioned that, but thats a good point.
Actually in another post awhile back I had another theory and made another comparison between the Space Jockey and the Borg. My thought was that the Space Jockey Species, with all their assumed genetic manipulating, is searching for genetic perfection. The Borg are also striving for perfection (although not necessarily focused on the genetic aspect).
The big difference is the SJ's are builders, growers, and engineers. The Borg are strictly consumers :)

@Cervantes: I've sculpted before using everything from clay to fiberglass. For the money, I prefer a chicken-wire base covered with masking tape. I know, sounds too simple. All the detail work on the roach is simply curled-up/bunched-up masking tape covered with more of the same.
Most of the stuff I make, I also wear (not this one though). And I've found these materials to be cheap, extremely versatile, and most importantly light to wear. I either cover it with resin if I want it frozen in place or spray it with a clear poly if I need some give. (I cheated with the roach and used half marbles in the eyes).
i was inspired by a chicken-wire and paper-mache' artist back in my San Francisco days, but the paper mache' eventually rots. I've found masking tape to be the "poor man's" fiberglass.
