"The Giant Blue humanoid is not the SJ and does not wear the SJ suit. He is the GOD/creator being. The Space Jockey's are his servants and/or slaves".
Anyone read Childhoods End by Arthur C Clarke? I see some parallels with this idea that I was thinking about over the weekend i.e. the jockeys are servants of some higher power.
1. That nostromo figure is further away, perspective wise than the blue man.
2. The blue man needs to be raised, because his knees are level with the platform.
3. The blue mans build and posture do not match the suit (compare against new picture) - shoulders, neck, length of arms.
4. Blue guys eyes dont match eyeholes in SJ mask, and then theres mouth shown in the mask.
5. Most important this one. We dont see the blue guy sit in the chair and put the suit on, nowhere. This guy could be anything and there could be many reasons why this guy is in the room.
1)Not by much at all and the position is almost correct.(look at the chair)
2)Exactly, that makes him bigger in comparison to the human.
3)Yeah it does??
4)You haven't seen a front profile of the blue guy yet.(?)
5)Don't see how that is relevant, we do see him operating the chair.
We are never going to agree, but hey, that's what forums are for ehh?
Guess we will have to wait and see in June.
Here is what the complainers really want..
26-30 foot tall jockey.. But no CGI.. Needs to be run smoothly by a group of 50 pupeteers.
Jockey captures crew of Prometheus and exposes half to face huggers. Face huggers become chest bursters, and grow into full grown Xenos.
Xenos chase the other half the crew around until end of movie when everyone dies.
The End..
@Jeffomorph
I'm not complaining or whining about the Jockey, I have my opinion and you have yours and Snorkle has his.I won't be upset if that big blue guy turns out to be the Jockey and I won't be upset if it turns out to be something ele either.
ReplyJeffomorphPrometheus ForumMore Space Jockey SpeculationJan 16, 2012
That wasn't aimed at you Theusprom. I was just generalizing after reading all the complaints on about five different forums. Complaints about a movie nobody has seen. It sounds like a broken record.
-No Xenos, huggers, or chest burster! Arrrrrgh!
-Space jockey is can't be a suite! RS is stealing my childhood dreams
-This has to be LV-426
-This has to be the derelict from the first movie
-Mutation sucks
-Movie will blow if it's PG-13
-Cameron sucks-Queen sucks
Blah blah..
A lot of people like their movies just like their food.. Bland and predictable :)

what do you guys think about the idea that the eggs in the opening below the SJ ship , each egg were put in a enclosed capsule to transport out of there area of space , but something happen when they landed ??? .
i keep looking at the trailer were the earth crew are walking around the eggs , but the shape of the eggs are not right..

@ Macs... I am with you.
An interesting article here that Ridley may have drawn some inspirtation from:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-16265519
"START...
"The one that most intrigues me is the possibility that the aliens may have engaged in some kind of biotechnology - if they had come to Earth and tinkered with terrestrial micro-organisms, or even made their own from scratch, the products of that could still be around."
In other words, if aliens came through our neck of the woods long before we were here to see them, they may have left deliberate clues tucked in the DNA of microbes that have faithfully copied the message for millions of years.
Prof Davies reckons that, since we're sequencing the DNA of life of all sorts anyway, we should keep an eye out for this kind of "message in a bottle".
...END"

well i honestley think he would have told her everything. think about it he is an android. he probably has information downloaded into his main memory or whatever. from black box voice records. to flight plans to even visuals from helmet cams or somthinor other. he knows about the prometheus mission and i think he would have told her. think about it she already knew that she was screwed over some pissed of life form. and i dont think he would have done anything. he knows no matter what happens if you survive maybe the company will kill you. if you escape well it did take 57 years to get back home. and if you do nothing well we youll turn into an egg or cacconed or tail raped or whatever youll be quiet for a while. as for ash attacking ripley i think that was just a malfunction like his sexual urges took over and just went all wacko on ripley. shuvin magazines down her throat and grabbing parkers man boob. poor ash he malfunctioned cause he was jelous. no lovin makes an android a problem

Maybe sports fans should have to watch reruns of Voyager to get their sport scores.

Replydb73Prometheus ForumFlying saucerJan 16, 2012
I'm fascinated by the saucer/waterfall scene. It doesn't appear to have any resemblance to the jockey ship/derelict. It's more like the traditional UFO shape from what we can see. I don't think it has anything to do with the space jockey ship.

The thought of that message travelling across eons of time and space
really send shivers up my spine. I like the idea too of it being the message
the Nostromo crew receive albeit garbled and coded, but it may not be the
case, at least not in this film, assuming a further installment is in the works
which may tie in with Alien.

I think that the people that are compairing it to Halo and Dead Space are the younger crowd. All of the people on this website know where a lot of these movies and games got their insperation.
ReplyCBT1979Prometheus ForumDead Space and Halo NonsenseJan 16, 2012
I would rather say that dead space is
influenced by the thing (with kurt russell)
while halo got also inspiration from Aliens
in terms of the marines and dropship.
ReplyJuxtaposePrometheus ForumDead Space and Halo NonsenseJan 16, 2012
Someone on here claimed that his brother worked on the set...his brother mentioned that we should expect something like "The Thing"....(except in space)...he was also asked weather their will be any Xeno's and he said something like "kind of yes".
That was a while back and u cannot take any rumors to seriously....but I do hope it was more than just a rumor... It ties in well with the crew members transforming or metamorphosing into something else....so their might be plenty of new beasties running amok....in which case i actually don't mind seeing plenty of animatronics combined with Cgi....as long as their is plenty of variety.
I am already confident that the story will be nice and diabolically disturbing enough... and acting will be up to scratch...the cast is very promising!.
ReplyJuxtaposePrometheus ForumDead Space and Halo NonsenseJan 16, 2012
I suppose it is an inevitability that people are gonna compare Prometheus to Dead Space and Halo....as long as they know witch came first....sadly it seems they don't!
It does not simply end with the basic look and feel of the trailer....some are also trying to point out that the score was stolen from Inception and Transformers...truth is that the score found it's roots in the original Alien trailer....very upsetting... this juvenile ignorance!
ReplycraigamorePrometheus ForumDead Space and Halo NonsenseJan 16, 2012
Ahhhh yes...juvenile ignorance. Where would the human race be with out it?.....literally and figuratively.
ReplyCBT1979Prometheus ForumWhatever happened to the original ship?Jan 16, 2012
I agree. Aliens was a good attempt to
Make a sequel into another genre.
Alien 3 tried to be alien but failed
By breaking alien canon as the
queen is not supposed to lay eggs without
her belly and face huggers only
Come out from their eggs if sensing
movement of a possible host
Nearby. How could the face huggers
crawl so long and find the cryo chambers?
Totally nonsense.
alien resurrection.....was reason enough
to call it a backstab to the franchise.
ReplyGavinPrometheus ForumWhatever happened to the original ship?Jan 16, 2012
@ Frantz - your forgetting one thing, by 2179 (Aliens) Weyland-Yutani had influence and contracts throughout all of the humans boards, commities and establishments including the USCMC (United States Colonial Marine Corps). They didn't ask the military for help, they ordered them to assist.
Replyred hoodPrometheus ForumWhatever happened to the original ship?Jan 16, 2012
Lv-426 atmosphere contained Methanol. A light volatile flammable gas. So if you ignite a nuke, and the atmosphere contains the above could be bad news. But to start a fire you need oxygen.
"Totally agree....that's what made both 'Alien' and 'Jaws' work so well. It's always what we can't see that we have the hardest time understanding and thus, spend the most time fearing."
Absolutely spot on. The problem has been that CGI advances have changed this concept. But however the beasties are generated if you see too much of them they loose their mystery, suspense, fear inducing qualities etc. I think this is why Scott says that the Alien as a shape is worn out. We've seen too much of it now. It's about as scary as a party popper these days. Less so in fact! Less is more ;-)

Good subject craigamore. I'm visualising tall aliens not 'xenos'. The
things in my mind's eye are a blend of Carlos Huate's and Giger's phantasms
- wondering if the Gods and aliens in this are what will 'scare the living shit
out of us' to quote SRS. That and the mind-bending horror of being stranded
with these things on a bizarre planet many, many light years (centuries?)
away from home. It really f**ks with the mind that does.

Hey bud, yeah…it kinda reminds me of H.R.’s “Sil” from SPECIES as well. To answer your question…I’m pretty new to computer drawing and painting software (like in the last 8 months), so I haven’t actually purchased any yet. I’m a “freehand” old school type of artist. Last May I downloaded a free Photoshop…kinda thing called “GIMP” 2. something or other. It’s pretty cool…and I’ve learned a lot from it. Just wanted to find out if I would be any good at it, before I laid down any real money on the real thing…like Photoshop…or whatever. I’m 44 years old, so I’m sort of playing catch up with new “tech stuff.” Mostly…I write these days, instead of painting…mostly…
Thanks for your interest,

The 'skull'/'helmet' on the medical table in the trailer is partially obscured, making it seem smaller than it really is during that brief glimpse. But I reckon it's the same one that we see in this pic here, and this certainly seems plenty big when compared to the 2 human heads inspecting it, considering we're only seeing the top-half of it - http://imgur.com/y9tZk.jpg
So I have no worries about the scale not matching the ALIEN one.
And the 'big, bald humanoid' in this shot here is an unknown size at the end of the day, so I also have no worries that the 'chair' will be similar in scale to the original one in ALIEN either. We don't 100% know that this guy will be the one to sit in the 'chair' eventually, but if he *does* put a 'helmet' on, I've no doubt it looks in scale with what we saw in ALIEN.
What I *will* be bothered about though, is if this PROMETHEUS 'chair' and 'Derelict' are supposed to be the exact same ones seen in ALIEN, as there are just so many differences in the actual design details of these between the movies...and these have been brought up in the likes of these topics -
'Continuity Errors' in PROMETHEUS Designs?' - http://www.prometheus-movie.com/community/forums/topic/915#7610
Two Different Space Jockey Vessels...Or The Same One? - http://www.prometheus-movie.com/community/forums/topic/537
But as some of these differences seem so distinct on the PROMETHEUS 'chair' and the 'Derelict', I'd be surprised if it turns out to be the actual version seen in ALIEN. I hope I'm not wrong.
ReplyspacejockPrometheus ForumSJ Inconsistency Between Alien & PrometheusJan 16, 2012
Indeed these Jockeys look smaller than they should be if we look at Alien, and if theyre bigger it is more dramatic and original. I stopped being concerned about anything, just going with the flow, trying to have as few expectations as possible. I think the movie will be more enjoyable that way.
But yea in Alien, if we stood up a human and a Jockey next to each other, the human would reach to the jockey's knee or a little above, right? So they better come up with something here because it will look pretty silly if theyre much smaller with no reason.
