Guys what do you say about the code David uses in this video? D964ZB, is it a reprogramming of David? Is David controlled via patterns of characters from the cinema? As I mentioned earlier and none said anything about it, D stands probably for David, 964 for 1964 the year Zulu was released, and Zulu Brother probably for the role of the colonel Michael Cane played who resembles David too! Maybe the role David played as Lawrence took its course and another more aggressive role will come into play.
oh dear....
this could get messy....
Lilly (Svanya) Fair point. The thing for me was that the spoilers did not change my opinion of the movie. We had spoilers and speculation but the movies themselves were different- I realized how spoilers were edited and manipulated to make me think a certain way and it all changed for me seeing the main event. This is why I will give into everything released for Awakening. It will be a fun ride picking stuff apart while knowing the actual movie will not be what I expected. That sounds pretty strange but it works for me and I am tired of guessing what a director has in mind knowing the track record of changing his mind and .........who really knows what we will see. I am ok with that and am too old to really care that a movie does not meet my narrow personal notion of how it should be.
Looks like the little dude on the table was chestburst too. Nice post Ati, i'll feature it awhile. x
I avoided almost everything regarding Alien:Covenant after following everything regarding Prometheus, then being super disappointed by it, and honestly it was the best thing I ever did, I was able to have no expectations and actually enjoy the movie this time around. I'll be doing the same for Awakenings.
Thanks for sharing the clips.
sherris Those might be good reasons to delve into the spoilers and speculation- except do it knowing you will likely be wrong in some ways.
I thought I could avoid but it became too much and I just gave in and wallowed in the spoilers! Besides, it was the only way to stay engaged on the forum- I actually enjoy that more than the movie itself. Thanks for the input!
I will try again.
I think i will be exploring the marketing, trailers, pausing, being a geek, general stuff.
However it wont be the same. i really thought my time invested would reward me when i watched the film. It didnt happen and i left the cinema a bit numb.
However i really enjoyed the time researching so i will probably do the same. i wanted to piece the story together and i pretty much managed it but the lack of reveals hurt.
This time round i will know that there is little reward for your time. will probably be another A-C type film. My interest is with the Xeno and Engineers not so much the crew
Hey ATI - Thanks for the mention in the opening ;)
Now waiting for Phobos and Advent. They're nowhere to be found sadly.
Good to see you again! Username is upside down. My copy/paste function does not work with your name. If you feel compelled, you can explain it here: http://www.alien-covenant.com/topic/46080
I won't make the same mistakes again. My expectations killed the movie and i blame it's marketing. I'll completely ignore the film once the first trailer is up.
Thank you dk. That'my point exactly and for me they handled the script/characters in a very believable way. A good reason to set Jacob on fire.
Yep, not to be rude, but shit happens and sometimes a Commander has to make real time decisions since nothing ever goes as planned. You are correct that ultimately Oram was responsible. I also assume it is a competent commander or at least one that cares. If a commander has a mindset to complete a mission by the numbers no matter what, that invites dissension and possible mutiny among the crew. Not easy to command and I could not blame Oram completely since he was not prepared to assume command- but like I said- shit happens.
Michelle Johnston thank you for you thoughtful replies, you always set a high standard of conversation. It is reassuring to see you back on this forum.
Regarding your question, I usually use my phone and when I click on the person's name the menu opens, then I click select and copy then paste it into the reply field. I'm using Android 6 on a Samsung phone, not sure how it works in other environments.
@Daliens
I think you do well with these films to take an emblematic top down approach to "Whats Going On". The broad strokes are there and then like Alan Dean Foster you can apply your own literal interpretation.
Take David one of a kind who had suffered apartheid at the hands of mankind. The one person who showed kindness to him was Shaw but in the end she wanted to get away and so he used her literally . David immortal could live on on Paradise knowing that eventually something would happen which triggered the next part of the story.
On the other hand some want to join up the dots and suggest their are clues that David baited the Covenant. ADF may even indicate some linkage in the prequel novel.
The way we solve these conundrums tells us more about us and our needs rather than what precisely happened.
On another topic you always reply with the persons name in the Green of the header which is a nice elegant way to start the reply . I have not figured how to capture that how do you do it ?
Except Daniels all the crew was in favor of a closer look at planet 4 and that helped the hesitating Oram to make his decision. The captain is overall in command and fully responsible for the fate of the mission. That's why Oram felt not fully equipped for the rank, being a huge responsibility.
auximenes There would be protocols for things like that- command chain and all. That said, it is pretty common to seek the sense of the crew and weigh that against the mission- the mission comes first for a disciplined crew. It can be complicated.
Another consideration is that everyone knew they were on a one way trip. If they decided to change plans against the original mission objective, how could they be held accountable and how would it be enforced? To me, the long and short answers are that they couldn't be held accountable nor suffer any administrative consequences bar a self destruct sequence of the Covenant engaging for straying off course.
A L I E N 4 2 6 from what we were shown so far the motes interaction with a humanoid host ended up with a bursting neomorph. The Trilobite looks and behaves more like a facehugger. We can consider Shaw the egg that sheltered the Trilobite. I would say the motes are evolved compared to the Trilobite because they can infest a host without being noticed and they have also a considerable life span. Not sure what would be the result of an Engineer infected by motes but it can be something above the Deacon.
Could the fact that David took the small facehuggers on Covenant mean that he cannot replicate them himself? Were they created by Engineers and David found them and started experimenting with them? It would have been more practical to take an ampoule of the pathogen and with all the scientific means fitted on Covenant he could have perfected his creations. Or the future script is as cheap as facehugging Daniels and make a giant ant queen of her so she could lay as many as 2000 eggs?
I don't think Ridley Scott would go for the Cameron's idea of a giant ant alien queen although he was polite at the time Aliens was released. It may be another mislead from Fox. I hope David will fail with his experiments and next movie will not feature Daniels or an ant queen. They are both overcooked.
daliens, I understand that it's not typical to let all of the crew of a ship in on the decision-making process but this is far from a typical crew and mission.
Thank you joylitt. I could not keep myself from watching them. Imo none of them are worthy to be in the movie, even the Neomorph moves like the 1922 Nosferatu. Not to mention Daniels scenes. I believe Waterston was not the best option for Daniels as a lead and surviving character. She did not convince me and I hope they don't plan to connect her to Ripley
Kethol, thanks for sharing.
it reminds how the Alien loses its arm in the novel during the airlock part
Maybe RS is allowing for the queen idea to keep options open for future films?
Plus, now we have one more question answered: David shared the info, so Weyland Yutani (or a section of it) knows everything.
"Dealer's choice". I expected to hear "Wagner wrote no such song".
airshaft_surprise It must taste like chicken since chicken tastes like everything.
It looks like an earlier experiment with the same method considering how the chest cavity is opened.
He is gone. Hopefully someone will scoop up and throw away that turd of a comment.
Not too much new in the deleted scenes. Glad Daniels' scenes were left out; we got the fact that she is depressed from what it is in the movie already. David's explanation of the Valhalla mythical story gives away too much of his sentiment toward humanity to be included at the beginning of the film, and also makes him look very different from what he was in "Prometheus". That scene show us David the way he is after he goes mad. Apart from the citadel segment we already know, the only other scene that stands out in my opinion is the one with the neomorph in the cave... there should have been more scenes like that in the film.
does it taste like chicken? lol!
Sorry, I just could not help myself.
That's a pretty good concept on how the eggs for that line of beast was created.
A definite nod to giger, bigdave, I remember that chicken burster artwork from gigers alien.
Interesting video. I'm surprised Scott would go for the Queen idea, then again he did say he liked Cameron's idea. Not sure if this means a literal queen by gestating one in Daniels or turning Daniels into a pseudo-queen like David did with Shaw, which perhaps didn't work correctly because Shaw was dead. It's such a sad story for Shaw, what a horrible fate.
RRiquelme95 you're stay here will not be long talking to members that way. No need for unwarranted comments like that over an opinion.
goodbye
@Starlogger, I just signed up to say you are a retard. 3D is a scam? how can you be so ignorant? Do you walk around the world with a pirate eye patch since you hate 3D so much?
We have been advancing so much in technology yet we STILL watch things in freaking 2D then when the industry start finally pushing for 3D, people like you come out whining and spilling nonsense.
If you are so delicate that 3D makes you sick then your are SOL...does not mean the rest of the normal population is like you....
feel free to ban me now since the last thing I want is be part of a place where ignorant people like you are moderators
Thanks, Dave, I'm going to slow down...
I'm simply stating that the Trilobite is an evolved version of the Motes, which can be seen moving inside the drop that David has on his finger in Prometheus. I'm fairly certain it's the same organism, just airborn. These tiny critters however, incubated in Shaw's uterus to evolve and become a Trilobite. David recreated this process, but made it better/more efficient, and made the facehuggers we know today.
On a serious note, it may just be RS "changing his mind" on some aspects of the alien.
Yes!! This confirms my theory XD :P

I was having a hard time finding a way in which a xeno and Walter could have come into contact.
Darn forgot to mention, when we as fans go into theory crafting talk take what we say as our opinion, in my opinion I think the tie in would be amazing, and the fact that david easily picked up the language in Prometheus leads me to think that being stranded on that world for who knows how long that he would be able to pick it up as well.... in any case its just fun to think about. as my first and maybe only post on here its been cool seeing everyone reply and pitch in ideas, I should come here more often ^_^
