🤣 so spot on LOL That's brilliant!
This one by loikbihan on Instagram. Pretty spot-on depiction.
This is a tough one, but while I wouldn't mind any of the options, seeing that Sigourney Weaver wanted to cooperate with Walter Hill in an interview really invigorated my interest in having her back, coupled with the fact how well she played the teenage(!) Na'vi in Avatar 2 recently. She's still got it no doubt.
Additionally, I've never sensed a desperation from her side as she's always struck me as a person who's cleverly picky about (and maybe/rightfully a bit tired of reprising her role as Ripley once again at the time) her roles.
A new sequel I say, but I'd be no less happy with another prequel. Ground rule is, a good script just like Weaver touched upon in said interview.
Also, thank you Chris for not adding a fourth option "Alien Earth: The Movie. In the Beginning" 😂
It’s an interesting thought to consider Ripley's escape ship from Alien still drifting through space during the timeline of Alien Romulus.
I think Ridley is partly to blame. Not that I mourn them but it started with Prometheus retconing the AVP movies. For the best to be certain (in my opinion anyway) but it set a precedent. He's produced Alien Earth so he's definitely fine with it ignoring his prequels. He could have made sure Earth didn't ignore them. He allowed it to happen. Same goes with Blomkamp's movie. It would have ignored 3 and Resurrection and Ridley was producing. If Walter Hill's treatment moves forward Ridley will more than likely produce. Ridley is most certainly not concerned with continuity.
I am happy to hear Sigourney is interested in making the 5th. Love her response on the answer and really hope the whole thing becomes true.
I do appreciate her response too, it sounds like she’s very selective with the manner in which she would reprise her role. I pray they’d do her character justice and not merge her with some contemporary woke nonsense…
Hey I'm totally down with that 😆Anything would be better than children commanding Xenomorph pets at this point. Beggars can’t be choosers. LolYeah they actually succeeded with one thing, that is setting the bar for Alien projects in the deep sea trenches! They checked so many boxes on how to NOT make an alien show imo, which is quite a remarkable achievement in its own way 🫣🤦😅
True we should be thankful we now have a crystal clear outline of what NOT to do with an Alien film / show 🤣 silver linings, love the positive outlook Neomorph!

Great topic and you're absolutely right. The Alien franchise seems to be splintering off in multiple directions and its going to lose its coherence if something isn't done about it. It feels like storytelling is going out the window and in its place is a manifestation of ADHD incoherence – each new director / writer cherry picking their favorite timelines and aspects and making their own story with it instead of acknowledging and keeping the story tethered.
That being said it is very very possible to at least maintain film canon with all these offshoot projects, they can make a Ripley story, Ridley can make a new prequel and Romulus 2 can also exist and all respect the same architecture of what came before them. It just requires a little more thought and consideration.
Studio execs should give us the keys and we can build them an outline! 😂
Interesting piece of trivia i left out. When writing Alien Sea of Sorrows, author James A. Moore was initially supposed to ignore Alien 3 and Resurrection then Fox changed their minds. The novel then had to be altered to acknowledge those particular entries. Moore welcomed the change because he enjoyed them warts and all. This is a 2014 novel so it predates Disney buying Fox but even then the desire to retcon 3 and Resurrection existed.
🤣 If I could’ve shared this cake with you I would have! Thanks Nebula!
Nice. You lucky sob, and happy b-day!
(Insert portal cake is a lie meme here)

No it was Fondant, but yes it was delicious! It was really well made and the cake itself was good quality as well!
And thank you so much! 😁🙏🏻
Alien Turdth, can I borrow this name? Pretty please :D
Of course fellow member! 😄👍
No way!! That is baking masterclass. Was it as tasty as is it looks awesome? Is it marzipan?
You're one lucky lad, and congrats on your birthday🎉🎊

😆🤣 I’m still laughing at Alien: Turdth lolll You know what though, last year there was a rumor circulating that Disney were developing another Alien project with a digitally de-aged Riley being at the forefront of it… 👀 You joke now but… lol
I had a different opinion on this a while ago and I've changed my mind thanks to Alien Turdth that left me with a clinical shit-eating grin. Continue where Resurrection left off...

Bring back Sigourney Weaver and digitally de-age her. She's still a stellar actress and actually keeps herself fit, and regardless of what people think of A4, a new chapter could be something completely different, preferably darker. Have Ripley 8 internally struggle with her identity and fragmented memory while Xenomorphs either infest earth as David arrives to unleash them, or have them already roaming the streets since 100 years ago.

Will she be lost to her Alien side and become a villain, or return as Ripley Re-Resurrected the way we knew her from A1-3 and parts of A4?
*Petition started to remove internet access for Neomorph*
I agree, I think Ripley's story should remain concluded. However I wouldn't be opposed to cameo appearances, like crew of another ship discovering video logs left behind by Ripley, or some other small role in that sense. But a complete new adventure where we have to properly arc her rise and fall would feel exaggerated and unnecessary.
I love Ripley and I think Sigourney Weaver is the absolute GOAT, but out of respect for her legacy and the work she's done, I would rather the Alien franchise focus on new stories rather than regurgitating old ones.
Please no!
Even though every alien-movie after 3 have been bad to average it's time to give Ripley a rest and come up with new ideas. You need interesting ideas, good writing, and well-written and executed human characters for it to work. What if a eventual Alien 5 would suck? That would put another bullet into the franchise and we don't need that.
Alien: Earth poster by Mickael Journou:
Everything wouldve been better than what we got lol
I can't believe that is the Xeno design they went with... Makes no sense.
I stopped caring after the 5th episode, only watched for Kirsh after that.
Episode 5 was definitely the best of the series and it was hard to keep that momentum. Was a very soft finale by comparison.
It seems like the main android has too much of a role, so that's not very interesting to me.
Check your video settings, make it public so we can see it 🙂
It says that the video is private so I can't watch it. I think that Alien 3 is fine the way it is
It seems like a dumb idea, because it makes the Xeno into a joke
Not too sure about that, I would probably grow tired of the androids if I would watch it.
@Chris that's interesting! I'd love to meet Ridley Scott and James Cameron, two of my favorite directors.
For sure, sincere passion to the work usually really shows. I've certainly always had the impression based on countless interviews that Ridley and James indeed come across as a bit egotistical, particularly James who loves to brag about what he's achieved in many interviews.
This is however not necessarily a bad thing (but rather a sign of confidence as you pointed out) and neither is the fact they're demanding. Actually, I'd argue that a grand vision and a demanding and perfectionistic approach coupled with education, knowledge and talent can make for a fantastic product.
On the contrary, I certainly felt like Rian and JJ Abrams didn't care about directing SW, not mention Noah Hawley's "take" on Alien.
I think the issue is lack of passion. If you take the job cause it's just another job, it won't be special. At least Ridley Scott and James Cameron attaches their egos to the projects they create. Some think they're pretentious but honestly, I think that level of confidence and perceived ownership leads to better productions.
I've met Ridley Scott in person and got to chat with him at the Covenant premiere back in 2017. He might night consider some details as deeply as us fans do but he's serious about the projects he makes and seems to not be influenced much. He was influenced to change direction with Covenant and that flopped compared to his truly passionate endeavor which was Prometheus.
The moment Noah Hawley said he's always seen the Xenomorph as more like a bug and wanted it to mimic a cockroach in the series I knew, this guy ain't passionate about Alien. He's just another guy doing another job.
Weyland-Yutani Corporation. As long as your not in their way of acquiring a xenomorph I think you'll be fine.
Prodigy on the other hand, no thanks. Between your boss being a manchild and having to work with children in adult android bodies that could kill you because you didn't believe their pregnant, I'll take my chances with Weyland-Yutani.
Alien Romulus was decent but yeah I do see a pattern with Disney
I don't know what happens to directors once thet make films or series under Disney. I mean, Noah Hawley did Fargo and Legion previously after all, then he does Alien Earth and you ask yourself wtf happened?
Then there's Rian Johnson who made Looper, a phenomenal sci-fi film. He directs the last Jedi for Disney which is a considerably worse film.
As a final example we have J.J Abrams who made Mission Impossible 3, Star Trek (remake) and Super 8. Hardly masterpieces but generally considered quite good. What happened? He made SW episode 7 and 9, with the former being a mediocre rehash of episode 4 while the latter is pure trash.
What said directors Disney works respectively have in common is horrible writing, which leads me to believe that Disney- through too much involvement perhaps, negatively affects otherwise good directors job and maybe even the writers.
Noah Failey can't even get his own stories straight, he reminds me of Paul W S Anderson.
Sorry for triple posting but I will reject any contributions Hawley makes to this series. Alien RPG is the only canon for me.
Well we need a new topic, "ALIEN EARTH", the worst "ALIEN story" ever
