So much talent, i love them all!
Love the pencil art.
That camera angle on the xeno makes it look even more terrifying..
That practical Xenomorph looks amazing.
It looks like this film will have many visual callbacks to the first two films.
Always remarkable the capacity for Human empathy towards machines throughout films but especially Alien, the fact we can have compassion for artificial life. It's like feeling bad for a toaster for being used on bagels every day lol. Foreshadowing a bizarre future where man and machine coexist and the lines become blurred even further.
Hard to see what's in the background, but something tells me it's a hive.
Also, according to Entertainment Weekly: "Alien: Romulus is set between the events of Alien and Aliens, and Alvarez was a stickler for communicating that through specific details. The gun that Spaeny is wielding in the photo above, for instance, is meant to be halfway between the flamethrower Ripley wielded against the original Xenomorph and the pulse rifle used in Aliens.
The same scrutiny was applied to the Xenomorph’s design, which Alvarez promises is closer to H.R. Giger’s original creation than any other iteration."
Well we dodged a bullet on that one
I would like to see a fully grown Deacon, maybe one day in the future we will get a more fleshed out understanding on the Deacon and Neomorph lifecycle
Via V Scooper:
"It's the name of their colony, just like "Hadley's Hope", JACKSON would be part of the name in this one from ALIEN: ROMULUS A heavy militarized and gritty city with a inherent hate to the synths, we'll see a lot of their lifestyle."
Poor synths.
Nice, thanks for sharing! A xeno once again lurking in low-visibility environments, the perfect set up for scares!
Maybe we'll get some Alien Isolation-esque POV scenes while the protagonists are hiding. That was one of the most terrifying aspects about the game imo, stuck in a room under a table with only one way out (medical level for instance) and the xeno's lanky legs walking past the table, in and out of the room at irregular intervals. Slightest mistake and it's game over, at least on nightmare mode.
Agreed, the aesthetic of this film looks perfect and very on brand. Haven't seen anything yet that makes my eye twitch!
Yeah I'm not sad Alien 5 got canned, especially now, lol.

What a bummer, not.
thanks for the video clip. Love this shot from Romulus. The lighting really gives me ALIEN & Alien Isolation mood. I am excited.

Front paged this as well for ya Nebula!
Annnnnd now I'm very glad we never got Alien 5 hahaha Xenomorphs creating the Derelict with Human DNA would have totally gone against Prometheus lore and the establishment of those ships being Engineer creations... unless the suggestion was that Engineers were a genetic succession to the Xenomorph by splicing Human DNA... Nope, too messy lol. Blomkamp had me in the first half but after hearing this, I'm glad we got Romulus instead.
I like Covenant because of David/Walter characters development. The opening is good but afterwards it kinda trying to copy the ALIEN/ALIENS formula. But overall it's still good and I like how this movie somewhat is the only one in the series that takes place outdoor (minus AVP lol).
I know I'm a total ASS now but I wouldn't mind if Neill would quit making films whatsoever. Elysium and Chappie left a lot to be desired and his films just got worse imho. His strength solely lies in the vfx.
It's good that they still see the potential of the Engineers. Hopefully they will be in a future alien-movie in some way, even though I doubt it.
No thanks, so glad that it wasn't made. To me, it sounds like Alien Resurrection in quality, if you disliked Prometheus then I wonder what you would have thought about this one.
It looks interesting, but who knows what it would have been like. Didn't care that much about David or Shaw, but I know that to me, Covenant was a let-down in general, even though I liked some of the details. The problems with the prequels to me were mainly crappy characters.
My thoughts exactly.
Eggmorphing dialed up to 11.
It kind of reminded me of one of the unmade Alien 3 drafts, I think it was Eric Red's draft, in which an army of Xenomorphs fuse to form a giant Xenomorph creature, like wtf.
Wow. I had to re-read that quote 5 times to understand it! LOL!
Smart xenomorphs? Building spaceships? Sounds like a predator ( Yautja )
Yeah, no.
I kinda love the second picture
Happy Alien day!
Was hoping for more news/leaks on the day.
I guess this will do....Nice they aren't CG.
Looks okay...But not very inspiring. A lot of CGI green screen. I don't see them building these as sets...I just didn't care enough about Shaw or David to watch them wander around an alien planet.
Character development is so important.
They look nice. These are from around 2015 when the story was shifted toward the Xenomorphs. The concept pieces created by Khang Le were from 2014, so I wonder if we will ever see an early draft from 2014 before the story changes.
Curious to see what they made when the film finally comes out.
It's a bummer that Carlos Huante didn't work on Romulus.
Love this topic, great stuff! Love how they incorporated Engineer environments into the game. We need to dive deeper into this side of the lore one day! So much untapped potential.
Great spot Nebula! Indeed we've got some clues in the background...
