Communication is not instantaneous, but both ship travel and communication is faster than light in the Alien universe.

Timmy the ultramorph no nothing special or profound. Basically latin for The Last Stop.

It is a fictional star-system in the Alienverse, out beyond the Outer Rim. The last named system that humanity has penned. Beyond it is just the void of unnamed systems.

Omega Terminus has not been settled because it is like the Bemuda Triangle of space. I will say no more, because I don't want to ruin the surprise :)

Kethol Yes, I stumbled onto that on IGN yesterday. Thanks for posting. 

I also thought it was a good movie. I just felt that too much was cut out of the movie. When the blu ray was announced and I saw all the deleted scenes it made sence. Those scenes probably should have been left in.

There is a sticky for reviews; however, this is a look back after the dust has settled. Point taken Starlogger but I will leave it unless another mod wants to move it.

I imagine we will see another wave of reviews when the DVD is released.

Walking out of A:C i gave it a 6.5 or a 7/10.

After many watches i have upped it to an 8/10

The lack of answers caused an issue for me but i am over that now.

Put A:C against any recent standalone action flick and it fares very nicely i think

Yes, I agree with you, Deep Space. It wasn't that bad and I look forward to the blu-ray release and extended/deleted scenes. There seem to be two big areas that RS wants to discuss in these films:

1. Where do we come from? Who created us and why? This was to some extent dealt with in Prometheus and will probably be back in focus in the sequel?

2. AI (artificial intelligence): What if synthetics surpass us (in everything)? What if they develop feelings? What if they develop a free will? What if they become dangerous? This was to a large extent the focus in Alien: Covenant.

I believe that Stephen Hawking has warned us from contacting extra terrestrial beings as well as the dangers of AI? AI evolve much faster than humans . . .

Just watched it again. I think David is saying that the organism works better with(in) human/engineer tissue, mentions the Engineer ritual (shows picture of Engineer with Giant Face Sucky Thing on it's face, insinuating that the Humans and Engineers as hosts is the perfect way to create the "wolf" has he calls it. And now he's creating the queen. He warns Wayland that "if you do this there will be no turning back. My creatures should be set loose to rule this galaxy"

 I enjoyed alien covenant a lot. it was a bit predictible and was way to short though. 8/10

just wondering, is there any special meaning to omega and terminus? 

Teriminus was a world war that happened in the blade runner universe. is that at all related?

I have to watch again, but they also quickly mentioned an ancient Engineer ritual, which might explain why there are alien murals in Prometheus.

Considering the Advent video, WY company knew about David's creation and could, therefore, have sent The Covenant in that direction (and a fake neutrino accident), saying it was on the way to Origae 6? Might Branson even have known about it and was killed?

There is a problem with communication and time (information can only travel at the speed of light. But, this is the future and sci-fi, so perhaps the engineers had found a way?).

The Advent will be on the DVD release. It would be good to assume that David set the whole thing up, though I think he just wanted a ship to come by. Having the Covenant come made it even better, knowing that there are over 2,000 colonist, his lambs that he could use to advance his perfect organism. IN the Advent video, he makes clear his intentions to create the 'perfect organism" to the company, so the company now knows his intentions and perhaps this will play into LV-426 and lead into Alien and Ripley being the next ship to be used to acquire David's creation.

The event that leads the Covenant to Planet 4

David knew about the colony ship and devised a plan to get them to stop on Planet 4 by sending a neutrino burst or shock wave or something that is processed by MU TH UR as a random event. Unless MU TH UR is in on it and reported that it was something it wasnt to the crew.

Basically he set the burst knowing the crew would pick up the message and head to Planet 4.

IMO it is just a massive intricate plan that David is acting out. He knows how it goes....

Yes, since all the information we get, in the novelization as well as in the movie, is through David, we can't be sure what he's been up to since they left LV-223. As you point out, he might have travelled elsewhere for some sinister reason. What do you mean by David causing the event that leads The Covenant there? He attacks Shaw and she tries to escape, crashing the juggernaut?

Is this "Advent video" going to be in the blu-ray/DVD-release?

So my theory, and i posted a thread detailing why I believe this is that Walter is not gone and will make an appearance in Awakening. TLDR of my post is this, there was no final blow seen for walter and we know he has self repair systems... not to mention we have confirmed that engineers return to the planet.... im betting the info he can provide on what david did, and where he is going will be valuable to them, and he wants to get back in space to stop him before he can twist and use daniels.

Here are a few snapshots from the recent videos.

Michelle Johnston in Prometheus the seeders used a discoidal ship. I believe the Juggernaut was their military craft as it seems all of them were loaded with the pathogen. Not sure why they kept the Juggernauts in the underground hangar because none of the Engineers from Paradise seemed able to fly them. They rather looked like a primitive society, kind of country roads folks that planted wheat and carved in stone. They could not have all died in the bombing and still they were unable to at least send an SOS message. Meaning they were not more than briefly shown in Covenant. The arrival of a Juggernaut was however a big event welcomed by most, like the homecoming of war heroes or a visit of a powerful ally. So why was Paradise important to the Seeders or the Space Jockeys Engineers? Why did they keep their ships on Paradise? Was it like a base, kind of the NATO bases across the Eastern Europe?  For me, I repeat, the engineers from Paradise are a archaic society, maybe by their own choice, that could not fly, not to say build, the Juggernaut. 

The Advent Video that is a transmission from David to Weyland also gives more in-sight to his motives. The fact that he shared his research with Weyland-Yutani is very interesting, but perhaps a threat to them to keep clear from him. He goes on to say that his creation will eventually rule the galaxy. 

In answer to the thread starters question it is clear from the editor of Covenant that the dilemma he and they were faced with is to what degree do we answer the Prometheus questions that they have chosen to carry forward and to what extent will that slow the movie down so that the real time narrative and the basic proposition (Paradise is like the haunted house) is undermined.

This scene opens doors on the nature of the Engineers role in the mythos and to what extent the intergalactic space seeders view this as their home and how do they the travellers relate to the ecstatic crowd that gathered to meet the home coming of the seeders. In other words once you seriously start to answer the questions posed by Prometheus you kill the routine ALIEN prefix movie dead in its tracks. Like the 12 minutes which include the crossing which are lost, this scene belongs to that thinking. 

Act 2 was rich with possibility but equally represented artistic jeopardy from the point of view that this was to be remodelled as a series about David, his journey and his impact on the creation /recreation of the Xenomorph.

If the next movie gets made and if the Engineers/seeders are involved it will be to act as protagonist to David will include a greater sense of where they might fit in but it will not answer the questions which are all for the taking on Paradise if they had wanted to take that route.  

@daliens, It's one of my aims to visit the Giger Museum and Bar in Gruyeres, Switzerland. Looks like a lot of fun.

hox yes, even if the survivors from Covenant could not care less about the surroundings in the given circumstances, we, the fans, would have enjoyed wandering an hour longer on Paradise, even after Covenant left the orbit. Hope Ridley Scott filmed a lot more and it will all be put together in a special bluray release. There was so much artistic creativity around this project that Fox should consider opening an Alien Universe museum. Or there is already such a museum?

Indeed we do only have Davids word that the Engineer ships were disabled to stop the virus spreading to other world. The novel gives us that much.

I am surprised that no one is considering that David is not being honest ;) and this lets us envision another scenario where David HAS been off world. Perhaps bombing other Engineered planets ? Maybe sounds a stretch but if he is lying about the ships then there is every chance he has developed other things that will pan out in A:A

I am certain David caused the event which led the crew to Planet 4.

It is all part of the plan. 

We must remember Prometheus - Engineers ships working after 2000 years. Holo appearing after 2000 years. The Jugganaut works too lol

In A:C there is some sort of power working for the lights. There is every chance the Jugganauts work too
